Ch 1 Quinn Hilton
Quinn heard her alarm go off at 4:30am. She groaned. She was tired this morning. A late night with her friends, but she needed to get up as she trained with her father every morning. Then, with the elite after lunch and junior warriors in the afternoon before evening meal. 5am till 5pm, 5 days a week. Dad made her have the weekend off due to being wolfless. Most wolves trained 6 to 7 days a week. She would always train harder, longer than anyone else, to prove she wasn't weak and needed to be protected. She got herself up she knew she shouldn't have gone out last night. It's Friday, so there was no training for the next 2 days. The full moon was here tomorrow she would happily hide away and sleep, but she knew her mother would want her to dress up and find her mate. She's 30 years old and she wasn't going to find a mate. She believed the goddess was trying to save her the rejection of someone not wanting a wolfless mate. She headed for the training grounds. She was dressed in her normal gym clothes. It was always pattern capris or shorts with a matching sports bar. Today, they had on black with gold stars. It would put people off if she wore bright, colourful patterns. It would make them think she didn't take training seriously or could fight, but they got a shock when she round kicked they face. She was trained in kickboxing, mixed martial arts, and wrestling. She did gymnastics as well for flexibility. One thing about being wolfless is that it didn't mean she had that skinny muscled she wolf body. Not that they were anything wrong with that. It just was her she liked her toned curves. So did the men. She stepped onto the training grounds. Her dad stood with swords. Really, dad swords? "Well, you never know you might one day come across something sharp in battle, and then you'll know how to use it," he said. He throws a sword at her. Fair enough, let's go. We'd practice with sticks before so same method just pointer. Her dad laughed. "Yes, very let's go," We had a good session. A few cuts to her arms where he dad caught her on purpose to get her to move quicker and bend her body away from the sword. Mom is going to kill you, you know that. "You'll be fine. You've had a lot worse. Just go put that cream on. We got you, and it will heal quickly with no scars. " Dad said. Our Alpha knows a medical pack in the human realm, and they created a cream that would heal her skin without scaring. She healed better than humans but not as well as wolf. She was walking back with her dad to the pack house he mom stood on the steps, her hands on her hips. "Quentin Hilton. Look at her arms it's the full moon tomorrow, and I was putting her in a strapless dress. Now it's ruined. " She said. Yes thanks dad what were you thinking. You ruined mom's plans to dress her up like a Barbie doll and parade her wolfless 30-year-old daughter around the mating ball. Quinn laughing. "You are not funny. We have a new pack coming your mate could be in it. " mom said. Mother, give it up, please. You are a broken record. She's good being single. She can kiss who she's wants, dance with whom she wants, and have s*x with who she wants. Let her live her life. "Oh, Quinny, please don't talk like that it's not very lady like," Mom said, putting her face in her hand. Oh sorry mother she didn't know we were having tea with the queen. Quinn is putting on a british accent. She'll watch her manners. Father was laughing. "Bree, come on, let up. She'll look beautiful no matter what." Dad said. "Oh, I know that." Mom said sharply. Well, she's going to leave you two this very interesting debate. She is sweaty and hungry. Goodbye. "I've left a dress for you in your closet. " Mom shouted back. She headed straight for her suite it was a nice suite. Alpha's and his unit lived on the 5th floor. All the heads of each department in the pack lived on the 4th. Alpha wanted us to live on the 5th, but father said he'd prefer the 4th. His words. If invaders would have to get past him to reach the 5th floor. Her suite was bright and colourful she had a different colour and theme to each room. It looked ridiculous to outsiders, but it helped her mood. The kitchen was bright yellow. It woke her up for the day. Her bathroom was blue like the ocean, calm and fresh. Her bedroom was green and brown. Just like the forest where she found it peaceful and relaxing. She loved to sleep outside. Her family always went camping twice a year. She loved it. She headed for the shower to wash the sweat, dirt, and a bit of blood off her. She put her healing cream on she could feel and see it working straight away. As she went into her closet and saw the dress, honestly, mother really. "Yes, really, " Her mom made her jump. She really wished you wouldn't do that. Her mother was the only one who could mindlink her. Mother was born a fairy. Not that the pack knew she kept it a secret. Only father and their children know. When Father marked her, she received a wolf. Pixie a cute little light brown wolf. Mom doesn't talk about her past. She finds it too hard, not even with dad. All we know is that she was born a fairy in the Wicken realm and that she had to leave due to pain and sadness, and dad marking her severed her bond with her kin. Whatever that means. Mom could still use that fairy magic. She could link all of us without a wolf, even as children. She always seems to know when we are complaining about her. "Come on, Quinn, it beautiful. Why are you reluctant to find a mate?" Mom questioned Why are you so eager to get rid of her. Mom gasped. "Is that what you really think. I don't ever want you to leave. I want you to be happy. " She is happy. So back off, please. Mother was quiet and cut the link. Oh, she's going to pay for that. Mother was very good at the silent treatment. She headed down to the pack dining hall. It was massive fit all 800 of us inside if need be. We had a selection of everything. Chef Billy and Chef Bonnie. Yes, twin chefs made sure we had the best food. She saw her mother sat with her father. Her long brown hair tied up in a bun. She was wearing sports wear. Great, she is going training as she pissed her off. Mother did train, but we noticed more often when she was mad and didn't want to shout at us. She got her plate and sat with her friends. Her brother came over. "What did you do. She hasn't spoken a word, " he said. She unintentionally said she was trying to mate her off to get rid of her. She didn't mean it the way it sounded, but she's always on at her to find someone. She was getting silent treatment from her mother, a lecturer from her brother. She stood up and stormed away. She couldn't be bothered with this every month she dealt with it. She was bloody 30 years old and still had this crap about having a mate. She felt a hand on her arm. She knew who it was someone she would have hoped would be her mate, but never would be. The Alpha's son Julian. "Are you okay?" he asked. Hi, yes, she's fine. Please get on with your day. Thank you. "You know they mean well, Quinn. You knew I wish things were different," he said. Please don't go, they. It won't help anyone. She removed his hand and walked away. Julian was about to take over as Alpha in 1 year time. He'd not found his mate, but a new pack was coming, and she knew his parents hoped his mate might be within it. Julian was 34, and still no mate. Once upon a time, she thought it might be her, but no, maybe a mate wouldn't be a bad thing. She knew the real reason her family wanted to mate her off. All were hoping a marking would break the curse that was placed on her at birth. She's not that lucky.
