Hook: She won the project. But she was about to lose everything else...
The next morning, Anna arrived at the office early.
She had won the project. Her designs were approved.
For the first time, she felt proud.
But on her desk was an envelope.
Inside: DIVORCE PAPERS.
Her hands shook.
At the bottom, her father-in-law's signature.
And a note: "Sign this. Or we will ruin you and your family."
Anna couldn't breathe.
That afternoon, Miss Chen walked past her desk.
"Oh, what's this?" she picked up the papers.
Her smile was cruel. "Trouble at home?"
Anna grabbed them back. "It's nothing."
"We'll see," Miss Chen whispered.
That night, Lane came home late. Again.
Anna was sitting in the dark. The papers on the table.
"What's this?" Lane asked, his voice tight.
"Your father gave them to me," Anna said quietly.
Lane picked them up. His jaw clenched.
"Anna, I..."
"Don't," she cut him off. Tears fell. "I know you didn't want this marriage."
"It's not like that!"
"Then what is it like, Lane?"
He couldn't answer.
The next day at the company, rumors spread like fire.
"The CEO's wife is getting divorced."
"Miss Chen is going to be the new Mrs. Lane."
Anna worked in silence. Her heart was breaking.
But she refused to cry at work.
That evening, Lane found her on the rooftop.
"Anna, please. Let me explain."
"What's there to explain?" she laughed bitterly. "Your father hates me. Your first love is back. And I... I'm just a farmer's daughter."
"That's not true!"
"Isn't it?"
She looked at him. The man she loved.
The man who chose her.
"Lane, if you sign those papers... I won't stop you."
She turned to leave.
But Lane grabbed her wrist.
"I will never sign them," he said. "Never."
Anna froze.
"But my father will keep coming," Lane said.
"And Miss Chen won't stop."
"Then we fight," Lane said. "Together."
Anna looked into his eyes.
For the first time in weeks, she felt hope.
But downstairs, Miss Chen was watching them.
And she was smiling.
The war had just begun.
