"he shouted in anger. “ I do" she answered, a little scared. “Then what is it? “ he asked with a scowl on his face. “umm it's Cole sir" she answered in a little voice. Cole shook his head. How in the world had he landed himself in this situation? Of course, he knew how. Miranda had become sickly and people assumed he was close to her in the hopes of getting her family business after she died. No one really cared that her family business was something he was never interested in and his wealth was fifty times over what her family business was worth. To dispel this rumor, he had married Amelia, his maid. She was a quiet and submissive woman and didn't ask any questions or try and change his way of life. He shrugged as he picked up his keys to leave. "i ..i .i . I made breakfast " she stuttered, which was something he didn't like . It's not like he abused her. If anything, he made it his mission to stay out of her way unless it could not be avoided. He had started eating breakfast as a favor to her, but he had actually started looking forward to the meal, so he didn't disagree or make excuses. He quickly went to the dining table, excited about whatever food she had cooked, as everything she made was delicious. Amelia didn't eat in the morning or that was what she had told her husband. The truth was, her mother-in-law had told her she would not eat until the household chores were done, given that this was a very big house with only two other people to help, it took a very long time . Easter was the maid who hated Amelia because they once worked together as maids and she was in love with Cole. The fact that he had chosen Amelia over her had made her hate Amelia and she went out of her way to make things hard for her, even though she knew the Edwards family didn't like her. Paul was the Edwards' butler and the elderly gentleman would sneak food for Amelia as she was not allowed food breaks until the chores were done .Amelia was in charge of the bedroom floor and the kitchen. The bedroom floor consisted of 9 bedrooms,four of which were used by her mother-in-law Susan, the twins from hell, Lisa and Harold, and the fourth one, which was hers and Cole's. The rest were guest rooms and all of them had ensuite bathrooms. Lisa and Harold made sure she had more than her fair share of cleaning by making sure each and every room was as dirty as possible. She swore they took dirt from outside just to give her more work and, on top of that, she had to make sure she provided 5 star meals at least four times a day which she barely ate herself. Amelia finished her work when it was time to make dinner, which was the time she mostly finished and she was thankful to Paul as he had managed to sneak her a lot of food today. She was hurrying to the kitchen when she accidentally bumped into Lisa before she could say anything, Lisa had slapped her face. " This outfit costs more than your family household. How dare you bump into me? Do you not have eyes?" she shouted. "I'm.. I'm sorry " she said, tears welling in her eyes. " sorry for yourself, a useless thing like you touching my clothes brings down its value.. Now I have to burn this outfit. I cant wear it for the party anymore" she said, her face looking like she was looking at the most disgusting thing she had ever seen. Amelia ran to the sanctuary of the kitchen as she had vowed to herself that she would not let them see her cry.Easter walked in soon after she did and saw her crying and she showed glee in her face. " being part of the Edwards not cracking up to what you thought it would be", she laughed. Amelia quickly wiped her eyes and started to look for pots and pans to start cooking. " Come on, I have already seen you. You thought you could steal my Cole and enjoy him too, didn't you? Let me tell you something, a thing like you can not hold on to a man like Cole . I mean look at you and how pathetic you are", she sneered. " if you were in my shoes, do you think it would have been any different? You are just a maid like I was. If he had wanted you or married you they would still treat you the same way they are treating me ", Amelia answered. " That's the difference between us if I was married to Cole. No one, and I mean no one was going to treat me like a door mat the way they treat you." she answered with an air of authority. " That's the difference between you and I , you always thought that you are something special , something that you are not, whereas I have always seen the reality as it is. There is nothing special about you. If you were in my shoes you would be living the same life as I am now ", she answered Easter with a sneaker. She went to slap Amelia but she grabbed her hand in a painful grip. " I may let them treat me anyhow because of Cole, but I will not let you lay a finger on me. Try that next time and I guarantee you i will tear it from your body . Do you hear me?" she said with anger in her eyes, and Easter nodded with tears in her eyes and she let go of her wrist. " I will make you regret this , I swear " Easter promised, as she ran out of the kitchen.
