An heir?..... I am never going to settle for a child with Ann never. My child is going to be from Sydney and that's going to happen.... I don't know how but I know it will.

" Good morning sir.... you have a lot of things to attend to today. It's indeed going to be a busy day." My assistant John said as he came into my office.

"Ah... yes John.... let's have the agenda of things today shall we. " I responded

"Well to begin with sir.... there has been rumors that Miss. Sydney Jenkins is back in town after her vacation to get away from you know what reason" he stated...

"Sydney?.... like my Sydney?... John I need you to find out if the rumors are true. I need to see her . The last 1 year has been hell without her " I responded

Sydney is the woman of my dreams.. we've been dating since high school, but when the news of my marriage with Ann ran wild, I heard nothing from her. Sydney blocked me everywhere and I couldn't even dare talk to her father about it. Few days after my not so blissful marriage with Ann , new spread that she had left for Florida, and since then no one heard anything . But now I get to meet my baby, I get to apologise and I get to explain that I never cheated on her with Ann

"Sir I'm not finished yet...... the Gala is coming up soon and we have to prepare well as we have opportunity to attract better investors "John continued.

John's tactics always seemed to amaze me. He just had a way of making everything work out for me. He had been my assistant since the company was handed over to me and now he wasn't just an assistant but a friend too.

"John... have I told you you're a genius ?" I said making us both laugh.

"Ohh stop... " he replied

"John you know I love Sydney right? I asked

"Ofcourse sir I do" he responded

" Then please help me find her. I need her in my life....I need her again" I said looking like a lost dog

"Liam.... what of Ann? He asked again

"We'd talk about that on unofficial hours " I responded

"Alright then sir.... let's get to work so the Gala event would be one to remember " he said as he walked out of the office....

I can't wait to have Sydney in my arms again.... she was the only source of happiness a man like me had and Ann took that away from me with her ridiculous plans and obsessions but now I can have Sydney back. We have a lot to talk about.... I need to tell her a lot like the news of our favorite beach being shut down. I tried my best, I even almost bought it but none of the efforts paid off.

" I have good news Liam" John said as he approached me ..... it was a early work morning and I was quite stressed so good news from John would really help my day.

"What's that John?.... Good news is really what I need right now" I said to John

"Take a guess friend " .

"John... I don't need some trivia now right... my day isn't going quite well and I feel like the pressure on me gets worse every day" I said to John.

"It has been confirmed..... Sydney is here in Geog..".

"John... no.... Sydney?.... here in Georgia?". I interrupted .

"That's not all sir.... she's going to be attending the Gala event " he continued .

"The Gala event? You mean the one we're preparing for? John is this news confirmed? Are you sure?" I asked .

"As sure as I could be possibly be sir" he responded .

"John we have to make it count..... to begin with Sydney favorite flowers are Lilles. They're quite hard to find so go to the flower shop and make an order now to be delivered on the eve of the 29th ... thats the date of the Gala right?" I asked.

" Yes sir that's the set date." He responded .

"Okay then. I'd think of other gifts she likes and how we'd get them." I said.

"Okay sir" John responded as he walked away.

"John , hold on" I called back.

"What's that sir" he answered .

"Thank you my friend. You have no idea....what this means to means to me." I said as I moved closer to give him a hug.

"It's fine bro... we are brothers " he responded breaking off the hug and went on his way.

The day I had patiently waited for was finally here . It was the Gala night. I was here for the event and networking tactic John had set but I was more interested in seeing once again the love of my life. Sydney Jenkins.

"Be on your best behaviour sir" John said as he let out a laugh.

"As long as I get to see Sydney,I'd do just that" I responded with a little smile too.

"The flowers and other gifts are in the car , make sure to get her" John continued.

We got into the hall and it looked beautiful.

"Good evening sir, I do love your suit Where's it from?" I heard John begin his networking .

I waited and hope and waited but I never saw Sydney, or was John's news source fake? Or did something happen to her while coming here?.

"Good evening good sir" I heard a thick voice.... a voice that sounded quite familiar I turned and it was just as I thought , Bob Jenkins, Sydney’s father.

"Oh it's you Liam ... how're you doing this evening " he said after finding out it was me.

"I'm very well sir...... " I responded

"Did you hear.... Sydney is back in town.... She'd be here soon even... you almost destroyed her but you didnt." he said letting out a sacarstic laugh..

"All I can do is apologise for that sir. I'm really sor...."

"Never mind it boy, I understand your parents and the business world. If I was your father I'd do same too" he interrupted .

"I truly am sorry sir " I pleaded agin

"Oh it's fin......

"And there she is my little angle" he said looking towards the entrance.

There she was. She looked stunning. Every detail of her dress was just as perfect as she is. She was wearing a black gown..it only reminded so much of how much I missed my ice queen. She was fierce yet beautiful , bold yet elegant, strong yet graceful. She was on light make up , it was her favorite from what i can remember. "Moderate but dramatic" as she called it. I wanted nothing more.... nothing more than Sydney Jenkins.

"Hello dad " she greeted .

I could still recognise her voice . I could hear it calling my name and laughing so hard.

"My baby..... see who's here " Bob said looking towards me .

"Liam?....Liam is that you " She said giving me a hug .

I expected her to be mad and angry and shut me out but here I was receiving a hug I longed for since a year ago.

"I'd leave you guys to it then" Bob said as he walked away.

"Can we talk somewhere else?" I questioned hoping to receive nothing sort of a positive response.

"Come with me" she replied.

I always loved how daring she could get, how she'd always handle situations. I did really miss this.

"Sydney I'm sorry for everything... it wasn't my fault... it's their stupid family issues. I had no choice but you know I always loved you and only you. Sydney I waited for you , I didn't touch her because I love you. I want to be with you Sydney. I want to have kids with you. I......

She kissed me .

"Marry me ".
