The SlipGate bubble brought them to a red room with plenty of daylight coming through a huge window. Anna saw black shapes moving outside the shimmering sphere that separated her from the rest of the universe. The guards who had opened the Gate, she suspected. Jack stood next to her with his fists clenched, squinting as he observed those black shapes. “I don’t like this,” he muttered for the dozenth time. “They could have sent an entire SWAT team here to help the local security forces.
