Chapter 27 Back to Leaf Town

1317 Words
After removing the Poisoning state Ivan left Lord Castle, he knew he had more important things to do. He was going to sell the state potions in Novice Village and take a better look at his estate- Leaf Town. He was filled with questions and concerns about how to rebuild the entire town after it was destroyed by Mirage.    Ivan thought of Left-handedLove and wondered what he was doing, so he opened the chat window. “Mate, what are you doing now?” he enquired.   Left-handed Love quickly sent a reply. “Hey! Loda is a good place. I got a B-Rank mission soon after I arrived. I am still on the mission, it will probably take me another twelve hours or so to complete it.”   “Oh, that’s good. I just wanted to tell you after I accomplished my mission Lord Logan granted me an estate. You’re welcome to come when you’re free,” Ivan said.   Left-handed Love was surprised, “You’ve got your own estate so soon! You’re lucky, I think I need to ride your coat-tails. I’ll come to you after my mission is complete.”   Left-handed Love is a capable man. He wasn’t afraid at all when battling with SovereignKing. Maybe he has someone or something backing him up. He is an awesome game player and would be a useful friend to have.    Ivan appreciated Left-handed Love very much and was looking forward to working with him again.    Once he was out of Lord Castle, Ivan got to Loda’s Teleportation Array. He was not about to go all the way back to Novice Village on foot, it would take too much of his precious time.   In Rivalry, there were many means of transportation. For instance, if the destination was only a short distance away, the system offered horses and there were horse-drawn carts for destinations that were a bit further. If it was too far for the horses or carts to be of suitable use, powerful Mages built Teleportation Arrays for people to use. However, not every place had one and there was always a high cost.    Players were also able to catch animals or creeps to hitch a ride on. Those running on the land, flying in the sky or swimming in the sea could all be used if players were successful in catching and taming them. It was like having a private car but keeping a tame creature was often much costlier than using the Teleportation Array. Just like players getting hungry and needing food, so do the tame animals and creeps. If its hunger got to a certain degree, it would be unable to move. There was a feed store but there wasn’t always food suitable for every creature. For example, if a player had a tame shark, they could not feed it grass from the store. Therefore, the player would have to find different food and the cost would go up.    One other positive aspect of having a tame creature was that once it grew up, it would not only function as transportation but it could also assist the player in the fighting. The Flying Tiger that Mr. Bowen had would be a great example.    The Teleportation Array in Loda was empty since most of the players had not crowded in the city yet. With players quickly gaining levels, there would definitely be more and more people there soon.    Loda was already a large city with a population of nearly one million. The Mages there had the Teleportation Array serviced regularly, so it looked clean and tidy It was on a platform about two thousand square feet wide, in the center was a rock ten feet high where the Array stood. The base was built from white stones and was engraved with a huge hexagram pattern thirty feet in diameter. As long as the player was within the confines of the hexagram, the teleportation option would automatically pop up.   Ivan walked on to the platform and stood on the hexagram. There were a great number of places displayed on the teleportation menu, such as Pioneer Town, Leaf Valley, and Icy Snowfield. The names of those places were grey, showing he hadn’t been there yet so he was unable to be teleported there. The only place he had the option to go to was Leaf Town. Since Ginkgo Village was too small to have a Teleportation Array so he had to go to Leaf Town first and then travel to Gingko Village.    Frustration filled Ivan when he was that the teleportation to Leaf Town was ten times more expensive than other places. It was a charge of ten gold coins, which was easy to understand why. Leaf Town had been the location of the violent fight between Fiona and Mirage so the Teleportation Array was probably also damaged, requiring more energy to start it.    Knowing that he would make more money when he arrived in Novice Village, Ivan wasn’t stingy with his money. He clicked the “Teleport to Leaf Town” option.    Leaf Town appeared to be in much better shape than when Ivan left it a few hours prior. All of the injured residents that were buried under the collapsed building were saved. The dead residents had been buried on a hillside out of town. The other residents organized themselves to clear up the debris and Ivan heard the sound of chopping wood in the distant forest. The wood would be used to build new houses. The NPCs in this game are quite efficient!   “Baron Bishop, why are you so late? I’ve been waiting here for a long time.” A man stated, it was the captain of the guard, Rock. He was helping the residents clear up debris when he suddenly saw rays of light emitted by the Teleportation Array. When the light disappeared, he saw Ivan and immediately trotted over.   “Lord Logan asked me to give this to you,” Rock said while handing a golden box to Ivan.   Ivan quickly took it from him and assumed the certificates of nobility and estate were inside, “Aren’t you here to take Fiona back to Loda? Why are you alone?”   Rock laughed and explained, “Mr. Logan and General ToughBlazer were badly injured and had to go back to Loda for treatment as soon as possible. They are already on their way because the Teleportation Array was so badly damaged it was not able to teleport anyone out, only in. I waited for you since Lord Logan asked me to personally give that to you.”   “Now that it is in your hands, it is time for me to catch up with the squad. Good-bye!” Rock nodded farewell and smile at Ivan.    “Farewell.”   Ivan watched Rock go and sighed, “Fiona and ToughBlazer have left without saying goodbye. It maybe be a long before we meet again.” Ivan thought of Fiona’s great beauty and couldn’t help but feel regretful.   He put a stop to all distracting thoughts and sat down against a rock, holding the golden box with both hands. It was made of solid gold and inlaid with various kinds of precious jewels—diamonds, rubies, emeralds and many others he had never seen before.   Ivan opened it to see there were a luminous parchment and an amber necklace. The necklace’s properties popped up as he took it out.      Baron’s Necklace (Blessing Continent & Just League Certificate in Nobility) Quality: Rare Use: If you wear it, you can get a monthly salary, 2 guards, and 30 Luck. Special effect: Never wears out or drops.   “Awesome!” Ivan exclaimed. It was good that his Luck increased by thirty but he hadn’t figured out the function of it yet. Plus, he could get a monthly salary and two guards. He hurried to check the properties of the luminous parchment.    Estate Certificate Quality: 1-star Legendary Use: Demonstrates your ownership of a town. If you use it, you’re authorized to collect tax (on Teleportation Array, agriculture, business, etc.) within the estate. Special effect: The effect will disappear when the estate is seized.   “Oh my! I am going to be rich! I will be invincible haha!” Ivan laughed looking at the two items in his hands.
