Chapter 26- Priest-ace Priest

1214 Words
A few minutes later, the Revered Elegance opened the Divine Furnace and a black pill floated into the palm of his hand.    “Take it, kid.” the Revered Elegance gave the pill to Ivan with a kindly face.   As soon as Ivan took the pill, its properties appeared before him.   Ultra-poisonous Pill Quality: Rare Effect: Destructive poison Minimum level for use: None   “Eek! I’m doomed to death after taking this pill.” Ivan was impressed by the Revered Elegance’s capability to make a rare pill in such a short time. However, in his heart, he resisted it very much when he saw its effect. After some hesitation, he still put the black pill into his mouth.    If I’m bound to die, then die. At the worse, I’ll only drop to Level 11.   To his great delight, as soon as he took the pill, he received a prompt from the system.   System: Congratulations! You’ve used the Ultra-poisonous Pill to c***k your Poisoning state, +1% to Poison Gas Resistance.   Wow, I’ve not only got rid of the damn state but also gained an increase in an additional attribute.   Ivan marveled at the Revered Elegance’s skill.   “Lad, how do you feel?” the Revered Elegance asked with a tone of concern.   “The state is gone,” Ivan said gratefully.   “Good.” The Revered Elegance seemed to be rather confident about the pill.   Then he walked around Ivan attentively. “You haven’t transferred, but you have a skill and you are even an advanced practitioner of it? Interesting,” he said in wonder.   Hearing what the Revered Elegance said, Ivan checked his skill at once. Indeed, the Heal skill had reached the Advanced level but what price was the Holy level? He could never learn other skills until he transferred. “And, what of it? I still haven’t transferred. Maybe, I am too stupid, so Mr. Bowen rejected me,” Ivan sighed.    “Mr. Bowen? He rejected you? Haha, he’s silly all the time and even sillier when he is recruiting apprentices. He was a fool to reject a talent such as you.” scoffed the Revered Elegance.   “Sir, I don’t think you’re smart when recruiting apprentices. You’ve only met this person twice,” Lord Logan reminded him.     The Revered Elegance concealed his embarrassment and said to Ivan, “Lad, since that Bowen didn’t recruit you, I’m recruiting you. Are you willing to be my apprentice and a great Poison-ace Priest?”   Pennies from heaven? How could such a good thing possibly happen to me? But is it really a good thing? The occupation of the old man was a Poison-ace Priest. It doesn’t sound like a very decent occupation. It’s not like Mage nor like Priest.  Are there other prospects with this job? And honestly, my ambition was to become a great Mage. The title of Poison-ace Priest sounds a bit ridiculous and I really don’t want it.    System: Congratulations! You’ve transferred to Poison-ace Priest, AP+200.   What the hell? I haven’t agreed! Damn system, how could you transfer me?    Ivan flew into a rage when he turned and saw the Revered Elegance waving his hand. He realized that the old man made the decision on his behalf in some kind of way. Ivan pointed his finger at the old man as if he wanted to say something but he was completely at a loss for words.     “How could you transfer me? I haven’t agreed! I want to be a Mage instead,” cried Ivan angrily.   “Do I need you to agree to recruit someone as an apprentice? You are an ungrateful wretch. You are very lucky to be selected by me. Countless people on Blessing Continent are eager to be my apprentice. This is a heaven-sent opportunity. Besides, what’s good about being a Mage? The Mage that once stood at the top of the continental pyramid has fallen and his corpse is still missing. Being a Mage is strenuous and tiring, while being a Poison-ace Priest is free and leisurely,” the Revered Elegance chided with pride.   “But…” Ivan hesitated.   The Revered Elegance cut him off impatiently. “That’s enough. You’ll know how capable a Poison-ace Priest is and be thankful to have found a really ace master.”   Lord Logan said in admiration, “Lad, you should know you’re very lucky to be an apprentice of the Revered Elegance. He seldom recruits apprentices so he has only had three, including you. Your senior fellows are both very powerful and renowned on the continent, to the point that I may not even be able to compete with them any longer.”   The Revered Elegance shook his hand at Lord Logan before he said to Ivan, “Come here, let me impart the basic skills of Poison-ace Priests to you.” When he finished, a green light rose up from his hand and drifted to Ivan.   Then Ivan heard the system sound.   System: Congratulations! You’ve acquired the Mass Heal skill. Mass Lesser Heal (Active Skill) Can heal targets twice the character’s level Healing power influenced by the number of targets Cooldown: 5 seconds Base Mana Cost: target number *10 Proficiency: 0/300   System: Congratulations! You’ve acquired the Poisoning skill. Lesser Poisoning (Active Skill) Can be used on creeps and players To prepare different poisons to effectively reduce the rival’s Defense, Attack & Speed, and to make the rival lose blood continually Can be upgraded to Mass Poisoning Cooldown: 2 seconds Base Mana Cost: character level *3 Proficiency: 0/300   System: Congratulations! You’ve acquired the Poison-ace Posture skill. Poison-ace Lesser Posture (Passive Skill) There’s a chance to enter the Poison-ace Posture to increase Attack, Agility & Health Cooldown: None Base Mana Cost: character level *2 Proficiency: 0/300   “Practice these three skills as much as you can, my dear apprentice. When you practiced all of them to Advanced level, I’ll teach you some more powerful skills,” the Revered Elegance smiled.   Though there were only three skills, Ivan was quite satisfied though.    Skills are like soldiers. It’s quality rather than quantity that matters. As long as I have mastery of these skills, I can be invincible.   Ivan could only resign himself to his occupation now that he had transferred.  He still had no idea whether Poison-ace Priest as a fringe occupation was really ace or not. At present, he had to ride on the coat-tails of the Revered Elegance. The Revered Elegance was Lord Logan’s honored guest, so he should be more talented than ordinary people. Ivan changed his attitude and decided to butter up his master. “Master, you’re so excellent. Could you give me some Holy Artifacts?”   “What are you thinking? You think Holy Artifacts are so easy to get? Do you want my Divine Furnace? If you do, how about I give it to you?” the Revered Elegance replied speechlessly.   “Really? Of course, I want it… But…” When Ivan saw the Revered Elegance’ fierce eyes, he dropped the idea of pocketing the Divine Furnace and changed the subject. “Master, why do all masters like to ask their apprentices to practice their skills to Advanced level before studying other skills? It’s very difficult to reach the Advanced level. And when I do, where will I be able to find you?”   “Surely because we want the novices to have a solid foundation. Some of the skills you’ll learn later on are particularly complicated, requiring a combination of several basic skills. As a result, you have to achieve mastery of existing skills first,” explained the Revered Elegance.   “What’s more, you won’t need to look for me after you practice all the skills to Advanced level. I’ll look for you.”   A master looks for his apprentice to impart skills? It did make things more convenient though. Poison-ace Priest? Why do I always feel it weird when I say the title?
