Chapter 41: Kill the Boss- Part 3

1135 Words
The journey to kill the boss was easier the second time around. Thanks to the experience of the first adventure, they were more prepared for what they would meet on the road. It only took about an hour for the team to reach the entrance of the Centaur camp.   Ivan had been thinking about the best way to kill the boss the entire way to the camp. When they finally arrived he had it figured out, “Let’s change things this time. Otherwise, we will only end up losing again.” "No worries, with Claire and your guard joining us this time, we can turn to destroy that monster for sure," after the long trip, Leo said sarcastically. He sounded like he was starting to lose his patience. "Leo, let’s listen to Bishop. Bishop, do you have any good ideas?” Left-handed love turned to Ivan again. "Do you remember the bead the boss was holding? He put it on the table before the fight so I am assuming that it must be important. This is what I am thinking, FallenAngel could hide then steal the bead, leading the boss to a trap which will be a big hole that we dig. Claire, again, you will deal with other low-level mobs. If we do this, we will have time to kill the boss even when the small mobs come back to camp,” Ivan explained confidently.  "Fantastic," Leo exclaimed. "I think it's achievable," Left-handed love confirmed after hearing Ivan’s plan. "Why weren’t you so smart before?” FallenAngel praised him with a big smile. "But... But I'm going to die," Claire was not happy with the plan. Ivan continued as if he had just made a big decision, "If we succeed, I'll eat your fried eggs for two days in a row." Seeing Claire wasn't very satisfied, Ivan added, “Make it three days! And Leo will join me!” "Okay, as long as you will do what you said! It is a deal!” Claire nodded cheerfully. "What? Why me? I didn’t say anything!” Leo cried out. "Eat…eggs? Fried eggs?" Left-handedLove and FallenAngel had no idea about what they were talking about or the sacrifice Ivan and Leo were making when they said they would eat the eggs Claire made.  Since everyone agreed to the plan, FallenAngel took the lead and went into the tent. The only thing she was after was the blue bead on the table. It was her first time facing a boss on her own so she was nervous. When she entered the tent, she saw Skullshatterer sleeping on a massive bed, she quietly moved about and picked up the bright blue bead. The plan was for her to immediately put it in her backpack but the system wouldn’t allow her.  Seeing Skullshatterer still sleeping even after she was holding the bead in her hand, FallenAngel began to wonder if she was more proficient at Breath Holding than she thought.  FallenAngel scolded, "Hey, big guy! I have stolen your bead! Come get it back if you dare!” “Bead? My bead? You evil human being!" Skullshatterer yelled as he sat up in bed. He jumped up and grabbed his sickle. Hearing the noise, Skullshatterer finally woke up. He got up and seized his sickle after he found his bead was stolen. "I am standing right here. Come and get me!" FallenAngel was satisfied to see the boss up and moving. She happily ran out of the tent.  "Boss, anything I can do for you?" The Centaur soldier, who was outside the camp asked. He had not seen the incognito FallenAngel but only saw Skullshatterer rushing out of the tent. "Evil human being stole away my beloved bead. Gather all soldiers to find my bead.” "Copy that!" “Let’s go!” Centaur soldiers yelled and rushed out of the camp, toward Claire who was already waiting. Everything was going according to Ivan’s plan. FallenAngel would lead Skullshatterer to the trap three miles from the camp, a safe distance that Ivan estimated. He believed that no one would interrupt them, not even the Centaur soldiers who might return to the camp.   FallenAngel acted as a qualified assassin, she led Skullshatterer to the right place without incident.  "Incoming! They are coming…" Ivan shouted from his hiding spot in the woods. As the boss started approaching Ivan could feel his palms sweating.    "Ahhhh!” Skullshatterer shouted as he fell down the hole. He had been concentrating on the bead and catching the one who took it that he didn’t notice the trap Ivan had set.    "How dare you?" Skullshatterer roared from the bottom of the hole. It was too deep for him to climb out and Ivan was relieved to see him struggling in the pile of leaves and dead grass.  The first part of the plan was on track. It would have taken a lot longer for Ivan and Leo to dig a hole if they hadn’t found the naturally formed pit. They originally spent half a day shoveling but they only managed to make a hole less than half a meter deep. They were thankful when they found the pit.  "Finally, what's next?" FallenAngel questioned as she fell to the ground. She had run the entire three miles and was sweating and exhausted.  “Next? Of course, we kill him!" Ivan said. “Finally! Let me teach him a lesson. Kill me and make me lose 50% XP? You will find out who you are messing with!” Leo shouted down the hole.  "Um… Ivan, are you sure we can kill the boss this way? Come on, how could I kill him if my knife can’t even reach to him?" Leo scratched his forehead. "Sorry, sorry, my apologies. I was too rushed. How about this? Leo and Left-handed love you two go to relieve Claire, she can come work with me to kill the boss,” Ivan suggested.  "Yeah, I guess this’s the only way since only two of you can attack the boss remotely," Left-handed love nodded. After the two men were out of sight, Ivan began to throw his powder to Skullshatterer to consume his HP. Even though Left-handed love was saying that Claire and he could work together, Ivan knew clearly how lame his attack was. It was funny to have Ranger Claire turn from a supporting role to the main character. When Claire finally arrived Skullshatterer lost 200 HP. Luckily, she wasn’t killed by the soldiers during this attack, otherwise, they would have had to come up with another plan on the spot.  "Claire, come on! It’s all yours," encouraged Ivan. "No problem!" Actually, neither of them was a warrior, but it was just a matter of time to kill the boss as long as they attacked consistently. Ten minutes later, Skullshatterer had only 10% blood left. Ivan, Claire and FallenAngel, could feel victory within their grasp. However, the excitement didn’t last long, Skullshatterer was furious and suddenly began to glow. A yellow light covered each inch of his skin, a sign of evolution.  "It’s turning into Golden boss?" Ivan said with more joy than fear.
