Epilogue
When the bulldozers, vans, and other vehicles came out from behind a series of inconspicuous sheds, Ashleigh didn’t flinch. She looked at Ezra beside her with a knowing nod. This time, the Green Criminals were chained to a fence outside of a zoo that was known for animal abuse. Ashleigh felt the power of the alchemical orb in her back pocket. The amorphous blob shifted and changed into the shape of a nail, a nail that would, once she tossed it out onto the dirt road near the exit of the zoo, stop the bulldozers—or at least the owner of the zoo’s van—in their tracks.
“You are on private property,” the zoo owner, a man name Jensen Hicks, said into a megaphone as he stepped out of his van. “This is trespassing and I’m calling the police.”
