Chapter Eight

438 Words
MJ POV People around us are rushing about trying to get to where they need to be, cars zipping by as more people wait for the lights to change so they can cross. Suddenly I feel a tingle ripple throughout my body, setting my attention to high alert, as someone bumps into my arm, sending me stumbling. I look up in time to see the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen running towards the lights, an apologetic look on her face. My eyes stayed stuck to her as I watched her rush down the steps. I watched, as if I’m slow motion, her foot got caught on an uplifted stone and she went tumbling towards the road. She landed, sprawled on the road, lucky that no cars were going by at that moment. The tingle returned again, and my body acted before I could comprehend it. A truck carrying a trailer full of livestock was barrelling towards the woman, too disoriented to notice. I began to run, shoving people out of the way as I watched the woman struggle to move, her shoelace caught in a grate on the road. I pushed myself to run faster, my heart racing as I watched the approaching truck, and the woman desperately yanking at her shoe lace. The blaring sound of the trucks horn deafened me as I felt my body collide with hers, sending us tumbling onto the grass of the median strip between the roads. We rolled over several times before coming to a stop, me landing atop her. I lifted myself up slightly, allowing myself to look down at her and I felt my heart drop into my stomach as I gazed into her eyes. They were like deep dark emeralds, and her lips were perfect and plump. Her hair cascaded around us in a deep red cloud and her body beneath mine felt like it was just meant to be. Her eyes widened as she looked up at me, stunned, before I was suddenly shoved away, and she was standing and collecting her things that had landed on the median strip when she had fallen. She gave me a quick nod before running off, just as the lights turned red. I watched her go, confused and intrigued, her hair flowing behind her like a cape. I could still feel her body pressed to mine, my wolf humming happily at the memory. Ramon comes up beside me as I watched her disappear into the crowd and I nod to him as I follow behind him and Circe, wondering when I’ll be able to see my mysterious girl again.
