Cara’s POV
Panic had set in all right, but I knew I couldn’t show it, especially not when I could see it reflecting right back at me in Jason’s eyes. His worry was so clear, like it was spilling out into the air between us. I had to stay calm. I had to be the steady one, at least for now.
I couldn’t blame him though. This was his daughter we were talking about. I should be able to stay calm and try to reassure him because I knew he would do the same for me.
“We keep looking. She’s here, Jason. We’ll find her,” I said, keeping my voice steady, though I wasn’t entirely sure of my own words. “Let me go put on proper clothing, and we can go check outside.”
