Cara’s POV I shouldn’t have gone alone. The thought flickered in my mind for the hundredth time as I scanned the shelves in the grocery store, grabbing a few last-minute items. Jason would be furious if he knew I came here without him, especially after what happened to me after going to the farmer’s market alone. But he wouldn’t be home for another hour, and we were out of almost everything; eggs, bread, even coffee. I couldn’t leave with those because those were my go to for breakfast. The store was just a short walk from our apartment complex, and it didn’t feel unsafe. Not really. I had made this trip dozens of times before. Jason was overprotective, though, always worried about me being out on my own, especially when it started getting dark early like it did this time of year.
