An Enemy of My Enemy is My Friend

Mari/Risa

I’m starting to become used to being in the void. Being able to watch life from inside gave me a new perspective on it. Not being able to have control of things is nerve wrecking and I wanted so badly to be back in control. I tried several different ways and the outcome was the same. Maybe this was supposed to happen. I’m trying to understand the purpose of Risa’s soul living in my body. Yes, I know her love for Apollo is the main reason, but what else could it be. Considering that Apollo has been with women, I don't have any hope that he has Risa’s best interest at heart. She has been consistently tending to Apollo non-stop. Trying her damndest to be the fairest of them all. I believe she was still holding on to the good version of him which was why she still protests when I remind her that it’s a bad idea. So, now I’m here just watching her over do it. Apollo pretends he’s impressed, although his smile doesn’t fully reach his eyes and I tried several times to make Risa see that.

“Pondering in your thoughts again,” she stated. She was in the room alone and I appeared in the mirror.

“Why does it matter to you?”

She shrugged, “It doesn’t. I was just bored.”

“Tired of chasing after Apollo?” I taunted. A part of me had to admit that I understood Risa and I actually feel bad for her. Yes, she hurt my sisters and Kai, but this was all Apollo’s doing. She’s so into this fairy tale that she doesn’t recognize that he’s using her. She was standing by his side as I would do for Kai, but the difference is that she’s expendable. I tried my hardest to convince her to leave him, but she’s really as stubborn as I am.

“Ha, very funny. He wanted me here, remember?”

“Sure, I remember him telling you that you have to prove to him that you’re the chosen one. I tried to tell you that there were others. Why do you think he hasn’t pushed you to sleep with him yet? He’s already getting it from someone else. You think sucking him off a little bit was going to keep him with you?”

“Shut up, Mari. Don’t speak anymore about him. You don’t know him like I do. Now I’m about to shower. I rolled my eyes at her. She’s delusional at this point and my patience is running thin.

Risa was getting out of the shower and went to the closet to see what she should wear. She got dressed and sat in front of the mirror to put on makeup. I appeared again in the mirror.

"What do you want now, Mari?" She rolled her eyes.

"You know that Apollo doesn't love or care about you. He is just using you for his own agenda."

"There you go again spewing that nonsense. How many times do I have to tell you that Apollo loves me and he would never betray me?"

She waved her hand blocking me from seeing her. I was really getting tired of her not listening.

“Yeah, like I’m tired of you constantly nagging me about Apollo,”Risa responded quietly. “I swear you sound like a broken record, Apollo wouldn't do anything to betray me.”

She exited the room and headed for the kitchen to make some breakfast like she did every morning. She told me she used to do this when they spent nights together in the past. As we were passing Apollo's office I heard a female voice in there and tried to ignore it, but she said something made me find a way to break down the block Risa put up. “What did she just say?” I asked. I wasn’t sure how I did it, but the moment I heard her say Malik’s name, I knew she was talking about Miren.

"Mari, I don’t have time for this." Before she could take another step, I forced her body to remain still.

"What are you doing?"

"Shhh,”

“Don’t shhh, me!” She said through clenched teeth.

“That woman mentioned something about my sister."

"How do you know she is talking about Miren?"

"Because she mentioned having to fight a non-wolf human for Malik,” I answered.

We stood there listening when she spoke the words that made me want to push Risa in there and snap her neck.

"I can't believe I was this close to infiltrating Kai's pack. If that b***h didn't invoke the werewolf law on me I would've had Malik marked me causing a painful rejection on that bitch.”

"My darling Phoebe don't worry about Miren, if she happens to get lucky, just use this," Apollo pulled out a silver sharp, dual-edged blade. Is that what I think it is? Is that the Decimation Blade? This weapon was the best choice for both cleaving and stabbing your enemies with ferocious power. It was also the only weapon that can kill a God or Goddess. I heard the stories, but didn’t believe it actually existed. How did he get it?

“You have to stab her in the heart in order for it to work. By her being a Goddess, she isn’t easy to kill. Make sure after you kill her and get everything I need to kill off his entire pack, I will grant you as my queen, the fairest of them all, my little rogue wolf.” He leaned in and kissed her. Risa stood there watching and I could feel and hear her heart racing. From the outside, she kept her cool, but inside, she was breaking. I tried to warn her several times. I didn’t want this for her. I tried to force her to move, but she used a kinetic force that made her stay where she was. Phoebe was now on her knees as she waited for Apollo to pump inside of her mouth. After he released himself, he picked her up and sat her on his desk. He removed her clothing and quickly lined himself up inside of her. Unexpectedly, a tear slipped for her eye.

"I'm so sorry, Risa,” I said,

She quickly straightened her shoulders and wiped her tears. “It’s fine, I’m okay. I, um, I actually need to go somewhere.” She walked out of the door.

"Where are you going?" I asked as she took off with so much determination.

"To go warn your sister."

Miren told me about the challenge with Phoebe and I told Roman that I needed to be there with her. Of course he would let me go alone. So when we arrived, I went straight to Miren’s room while Roman went to speak with Kai. She sat on the bed lost in her thoughts. When I sat next to her, she looked at me.

“Do you think I’m making the right choice?”

“Of course, why would you ask that?” I wrapped my arms around her.

“Because, in reality, there was no mate bond between us. Our love for each other just developed. As soon as Phoebe came into the picture, she felt his bond. It may have been a good one, but she knew right away that they were mates.”

She inhaled and then let out a deep breath.

“Miren, you have to give yourself more credit. You and Malik are meant to be. Mate bond or no mate bond. You guys have pure love. It is forced and it just happened naturally. Even if the outcome was in Phoebe’s favor, Malik wouldn’t purely love her.”

She shrugged, “I guess you’re right. I just Mari was here. I could hear her now. Miren, pull yourself together,” she imitated.

“Is that really how I sound?”

We immediately looked to see Risa standing at the door. We were already in defense mode, but to our surprise, Risa put her hands up.

“Don’t worry, I didn’t come here to fight with you.”

“Why are you here then,” Miren spat.

“To warn you,”

I scoffed, “Warn her? About what, you?”

“No, smart a*s, about Phoebe.”

Miren and I frowned and glanced at each other before looking back at Risa.

“How do you know about her?”

“Because,” she walked towards the mirror in the corner of the room. “She is with Apollo as we speak.” Suddenly Mari appeared in the mirror.

“Mari?” We went towards the mirror. Gosh, she looked so beautiful. She was dressed in all white, like an Angel.

“Hey,” she responded shyly, which was unlike her. She seemed more humbled.

“We miss you so much,” I choked.

“I miss you both too. I’m so glad you’re safe, Mesai. Miren, I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I wished I was physically able to be there with you both, but Miren, I believe in you, please be careful. Apollo is trying to infiltrate Kai’s pack. He wants to kill everyone and take him over this territory.”

“And he gave Phoebe some type of special knife,” Risa chimed in.

“The Decimation Blade,” Mari confirmed.

“Does it actually exist? How? The thing can kill us!” I freaked out.

“How did Apollo get it?” Miren asked.

Mari shrugged, “I’m not sure, but it doesn’t matter, Miren. You need to be careful.”

I looked at Risa, “And what about you?”

“What about me?” She countered.

“You came to warn Miren, what do you want out of this?” She tried to kill us a while ago, so I’m still reluctant about trusting her.

She shrugged her shoulders, “Let’s just call this my good deed.”

“Okay, Mari, what’s going on?” I asked. “You seemed okay now that Risa is in your body.”

“Trust me, I would love to have my body back.”

“As if,” Risa sarcastically scoffed.”If anything, I made this body better.”

Mari rolled her eyes, “Ignore her. Risa and I have some sort of…understanding.”

“Well, would you look at the time? Tell your sisters you’ll see them later, Mari.”

Miren tried to protest but Risa moved away from the mirror, making Mari disappear. As she walked towards the door, Kai and Roman appeared. Kai’s face changed immediately and he was beginning to shift.

“Alpha, don’t!” Miren shouted.

“What is she doing here?” Lennie’s voice appeared shouting. Kai’s eyes changed colors and I knew Lennie was completely taking over.

“Oooooh, down boy, I only came to wish Miren good luck,” she said in an almost seductive tone.

“How do you know?” He had a confused look.

“Phoebe is with Apollo,” I explained. “Apparently, she is planning on infiltrating your pack so that Apollo can come and take over your territory.”

“That little-“

“Kai?” Mari's voice came out of Risa's lips.

He paused and looked at Risa’s who turned around and Mari appeared in the mirror again.

“Mari,” he whispered like he couldn’t believe it. “God, I miss you so much.”

“I miss you too and I’m so sorry.”

His brows knitted together, “Baby, you have no reason to be sorry. I’ve been so lost without you. I’ve been trying to keep myself busy, but I need you here with me.”

“I wish I was with you, but we will be together again,” she assured him.

He walked towards the mirror and placed his hand on it. Mari followed suit and their hands touched. Quickly, Risa stepped away, but her expression was sad, which was odd to see.

“I really have to go,” she said as stormed past us and left.

Roman looked at me and asked, “What was that?”

“I don’t know, but we need to be prepared for what’s to come,” I answered.

Miren agreed and then we explained to the guys what Risa and Mari told us. Miren stated that she would focus on her fight with Phoebe and while we’re all looking out for any signs of danger.
