Chapter 15

2377 Words
The witch is still sobbing uncontrollably while staring at Limuel's head when Sage decides to carry her in his arms.    He is aware that nothing good will happen if he lets the witch like this. He should bring her home and let her rest.   Eleanor, on the other hand, is left lying on the ground. She's clenching her chest so hard because it hurts. It hurts to have a beating heart again, but what hurts the most is the emotions that are overwhelming her.   Grief. Remorse. Pain.   Everything hurts as she watches the ruthless vampire carries Hope out of this room.   She's left alone.   Sage left her.   Tears and emotions continue to flow when she suddenly felt a presence in front of her.   Eleanor looks up. Her eyes sparkle upon realizing that Sage came back for her.   He came back!   "Did you really think I'd leave you alone?" He encircles his strong arms around her waist to help her stand up.   She's weak. Having a heart makes her weak. Eleanor envies human beings. Their emotions come from the brain, but as for vampires, it comes from the heart. This organ of hers feels so heavy that she thinks she'll faint if Sage lets go of his hold to her.   "Sshh," the ruthless vampire cups Eleanor's face. "I'm here, baby. I'm not going to leave you alone."   His words bring great solace. She embraces Sage harder.   "I love you..." Sage confesses. He didn't even think it through. It's like it is so natural for him to say such bold words. Who can blame him? Every day for the past year, Sage dreams about saying these three magical words to Eleanor while embracing her.   It's just sad to think that he has to say it during this difficult time. Hope told Sage last time that there's still hope for Eleanor—that the 'human her' can still be redeemed through reattaching her heart and performing a particular spell. This is good news, yet Sage refused.   He feels responsible for Eleanor. He wants to reconnect the enchantress with her true feelings without the intervention of magic or any other things. He's a strong believer that regardless of that missing organ, Eleanor will still find her way to Sage's love.   She's just lost, but she will come back.   Tragically, it didn't happen. Hope and Sage do not have any choice left but to anchor her heart back to where it belongs.   "Listen, baby..." Sage stares into her sorrowful eyes. "I know you're in great pain right now, but I need you to do something for me..."   For some reason, Eleanor nods.   "Hope is still in shocked. She'll lose it if she sees you, so can you..." He licks his lower lip. "Can you like perform a spell to calm her down?"   They need to go back to Lacuna Valley, but it is hours away from Kinghorn University. Hope can't bear to be near Eleanor for hours. She might try to harm herself.   "Just leave me here. You don't have to go with me—"   "No." Sage cuts her off. "This isn't a matter of choice for me, Eleanor. If you don't want to perform the spell, I'll just leave Hope here. I don't care...."   Sage swallows hard. He cups her face once again.   "I don't care..." He repeats for emphasis. "About anyone else. I can't leave you alone."   "I will never leave you alone. You hear me?" He wipes her tears away.   "W-Where are we going?" Eleanor asks, her voice is broken.   "Home, baby." He kisses her forehead. "We're going home."   "Okay." Hope is waiting at Sage's car. Eleanor uses her vampire-enchantress power to teleport the three of them home. She owes the witch a lot. The least thing she can do is bring her home.   Home, according to Sage, is Elijah's abode. As of this moment, Eleanor, Sage, and Hope are standing right in front of Elijah's house. The witch is still hysterical so the ruthless vampire decides to carry her in his arms again.   Eleanor is just behind Sage, silently waiting for the door to open.   "It's the middle of the night, what the f**k—" Elijah stops dead on his track when he saw Sage carrying half-conscious Hope.   "Sage! What the hell happened to her?" Elijah's eyes quiver in fear. It hasn't even been a long time since he and Hope met, though he already considers her as a member of their family. Seeing this terrible incident truly scares Elijah.   "Let us in, brother." Sage pleads and the very first untouchable didn't hesitate to do so. He opens the door wider.   He's about to close the door, but someone blocks it.   "Y-You..." The fear Elijah feels turns into fury the moment he sees the creature standing in his door frame.   It's none other than Eleanor, the vampire who tried to murder his son.   The audacity.   "May I come in?" She fakes a smile.   "You can. Elijah, let her in." Sage demands like he owns the house. He's on his way to the second floor to let Hope rest in his room.   The very first untouchable clenches his jaw. He tries to read her mind, but he can't. She's impenetrable.   "Dad? Who's there?" Jimin appears, but he quickly hides behind his father when he comes to know who's standing outside their home.   "W-Why is she here?" Jimin stammers, his grip on the hem of Elijah's shirt tightens. The poor hybrid is so frightened. How can he not? His blood sister almost killed him—wait, she did murder him. Aunt Hope is just sweet enough to bring him back to life.   "We don't want trouble, Eleanor." Elijah inhales deeply. He's striving to act strong even though his heart is thumping so loud. He's no match to this creature. He knows that she can crush him and Jimin with one snap of finger.   The enchantress sees it in their eyes that she's not welcome here.   "I'll just leave..." So she turns away dejectedly.   Guilt washes through Elijah. He despises Eleanor, but deep down inside of him, he is sure that it's partly his fault why Eleanor turned into this kind of creature. Jin bit her and Elijah didn't do anything to stop him.   Still, he can't risk Jimin's life just because of guilt, so before he changes his mind, Elijah shuts the door.   The sound made Eleanor flinch. It's like she's been slapped by the fact that no one wants to be with a monster like her.   Not even Sage, because if he truly cares for her, he wouldn't be stuck inside his room to answer Hope's requests. He is supposed to chase after Eleanor instead of caressing the witch's shaking shoulder.   As Eleanor walks away from the house, events from the past that will prove that she's a monster enter her mind.   Blood.   Just like a typical bloodsucker, Eleanor craves blood the moment she opens her eyes.   "Blood..." She says out loud, her voice is hoarse and her eyes are red.   "I want blood..." She repeats. This is her only difference to an untouchable who just came into the world. Untouchables can't formulate a sentence, but just like Ellie, they want blood.   "No..." Eleanor cries, her fangs hurt because it wishes to bite someone. Realizing that she can't do it because she's inside a dark and enclosed space, she screams.   "Blood!" After saying this word, her eyes turn redder. Foreign words escape her mouth without much of a though.   She's unconsciously reciting a spell to get herself out of space she's at. It only took her seconds to be free.   "Ah!" Eleanor breathes when she felt the air fill her lungs. Finally. She's free!   She looks around, her eyes grow big upon realizing that she just escaped from a coffin. The dark and enclosed space she's at was a coffin.   A freaking coffin!   "No!" Eleanor flops down on the ground. Memories from seven days ago flash into her head as she stares hard at her coffin.   It's playing so fast.   Aurora. The rogues. Sage. Jin. Anemone Mountain Cliff. Her ripped out heart....   She remembers it all. She died!   She f*****g died and now...   "I'm a vampire!" Eleanor hiccups. She clutches her chest and this action only confirmed her darkest thought.   She's heartless, but she's alive.   Indeed, she's a vampire.   Sage acted too late. She turned into a vampire before he can rip out her heart.   "Blood!" She utters again, her mind is filled with so many things. She wants to curse the ruthless vampire, however it's as though her mouth has its own life. It automatically screams the word 'blood.'   "Fight it, Eleanor!" She slaps herself. She's walking away from her graveyard. She's barefoot and naked.   The winter wind embraces her—making her shiver. In spite of this, she continues to walk.   She needs to see her grandmother. She's the only one who can help her.   "Hmff," Eleanor suddenly stops. The searing pain in her head is too much. Her fangs also feel like it's about to fall out.   "Ah!" She stumbles on her feet.   Everything is literally red.   'Blood.' Her mind is screaming this word and before she can process what's happening, she starts chanting foreign words unconsciously again   It's the spell used to teleport yourself somewhere you want to go. Only extraordinary good ones can teleport themselves. This is part of her ability as a vampire and enchantress. The words to perform a magic trick automatically come out of her mouth if she wants to.   In a matter of seconds, Eleanor is already standing in front of her grandmother's house.   "Granny!" Her fist hit the door. She's banging it so hard and loud that it only took four breaths for Wilnadette to open the door.   Of course Wilnadette is surprised to see the enchantress. She hasn't heard from her grandchild for a week. As much as she wants to know what happened to her, she knows that it's better to stay inside of her house. She also made sure to perform a spell that would hide her existence from the vampires.   Regrettably, Wilnadette can't hide herself from Eleanor because there's a loophole in her magic trick. She's only invisible in the eyes of untouchables and preporods. Eleanor can see her since a part of her is still a witch. This being said, the elder witch is caught off guard by the sudden attack of her granddaughter.   Wilnadette isn't even able to struggle for the reason that she was lead to believe that Eleanor jumped to her to engulf her into a warm hug. She didn't expect to be bitten in the carotid artery.   "Eleanor?"   The female vampire stops sucking Wilnadette's blood after hearing Lucas' voice. She's still at the door step and from the vampire slayer's side of view, it just appears like she's embracing her grandmother.   He did see her red eyes, though. Perhaps that's the reason why Lucas nervously takes a step back.   "Hi, Lucas." Eleanor smiles evilly. She moves away from her Wilnadette—causing the elder's headless body to fall down.   Lucas' eyes dart into Eleanor's hand. She's holding Wilnadette's head.   "I'm really, really hungry..." She drops her grandmother's head on the floor then she super speeds towards Lucas.   Unlike Wilnadette, this man struggles to get away from Ellie. However he ended up just like her.   Eleanor also sucks Lucas' blood. She didn't stop until she tears off his head as well.   "Good." Eleanor licks her lips then she wipes it the remaining blood stain using her hand. "So f*****g good."   She lets herself breathe first. She's still hungry, but it's tolerable now. Her eyes are going back to its normal color as well.   Eleanor breathes in, satisfied. She takes a few more minutes to settle down, unfortunately, the opposite of it happens.   "No..." Her eyes dilate when she realized what she just did. The two headless bodies of the people she swore she'd never hurt makes her want to puke.   "Shit..." She's hyperventilating now.   "No, no, no!" She wails. It's happening again. Foreign words leave her mouth as she tries so hard to bring them back.   Nothing happens. There's no hope for people who died because of decapitation. There's no hope for the good ones. When they die, they're just...dead.   And Lucas. This man is a vampire slayer! His blood should have killed a preporod like Eleanor, but then again, it didn't. It's like all rules do not apply to an enchantress who turned into a vampire.   Every bad thing that she does only brings her more power. Killing a vampire slayer just made Eleanor's blood fatal to vampires. This is also the reason why she's able to end Jennie's life. Untouchables can't be killed by anyone, but since Eleanor is an enchantress, Lucas's blood in her system can be turned into a weapon to end the life of all kinds of bloodsuckers.   Everyone is damned now that Eleanor is literally the most powerful creature in the world. Even the good ones can't stop her.   Eleanor made sure that no one can harm her.   The guilt she felt when she killed Lucas and Wilnadette didn't last long because it's being overpowered by hunger. Minutes later, she found herself craving blood one more time.   But before she goes hunting food again, Eleanor decided to bury the lingering emotions.   She brought her first two kills in Lacuna Forest.   "Shut up!" Eleanor covers her ears. "Shut the f*****g f**k!"   She's hearing voices in her head. Voices that keep saying that she would be punished, that she should stop now before something bad happens.   Ellie has a feeling that it's the good ones. They're the only creatures who are so against of killing people.   She breathes in and then she uses her power as a vampire to immediately tie Lucas and Wilnadette's bodies on the tree where witches reside. Their head are place on their laps.   "Ignis!" She shouts because the voices in her head are getting louder.   "Ignis!" She repeats again. This time, the bodies as well as the tree burn brighter.   Eleanor's nose bleeds while chanting more magical words. She isn't sure if the voice is fading away because her spell is working or because she's about to faint. Perhaps the magic is too strong.   "Perpetua espiritu kun comen!" This is the spell to get rid of spirits forever. Their spirits will most likely go to paradise. It's where they really belong. The good ones who choose to reside in this tree are those who feel like they still need to fulfill something. Today, that ends. Eleanor will destroy them.   "Perepetua espiritu kun comen!" Just like what happened over a decade ago, the ground starts to shake.   It lasts for minutes. Eleanor even falls since the tremor is too much. Her nose bleeds more. Her head aches. Her heart? No beat.   Everything goes black.   And when she opens her eyes, the tree and the bodies already turned into ashes. Her head stopped hurting. Her nose doesn't bleed anymore.   But still, at the end of the day, she's still heartless.
