"Will you ever let me go?" Eleanor's question made the ruthless vampire freeze on his spot. Quirking his brow, he examines her face.
The enchantress sounds genuinely curious. Her eyes are glowing with the strong desire to know his answer.
"You sick of me already?" Sage playfully bites his mint chocolate ice cream. He's acting as if her question offended him. "Why? I thought you wanna have fun?"
Eleanor nods while licking her dessert. In the end, Sage convinced him to go to Lala Diner to enjoy a scoop of ice cream. The ruthless vampire can be very persistent and truthfully, it kind of makes Ellie worried. He can make her mask waver and she hates it.
She hates it since she likes that he’s around.
"I am fun!" His lips protrude more.
Eleanor chuckles.
"No. You're boring," it's a lie. She just likes teasing him. Sage is far from boring. The enchantress honestly believes that she won't get bored sitting in this booth for hours just by watching him bite instead of lick his ice cream.
"I'm not!" He swallows his ice cream in one go then he stands up. "Just...you wait!"
The female vampire quirks her brow more. She watches the ruthless vampire talk to Beth, the manager of the diner. By the look of it, Eleanor can already tell that Sage is compelling her.
Moments later, the ruthless vampire goes to the Diner's mini stage.
He clears his throat loudly, causing the customers to look at him. Even Eleanor's eyes are glued to Sage. It's hard not to stare at him when he's shining like Sirius star.
"Hello, everyone." His sheepish grin makes Eleanor giggle. Her ex-boyfriend isn't exactly an extrovert. There's this one time when she even forced him to dance with her at a club.
"My girlfriend thinks I'm boring..."
There's something about Sage that pulls people closer to him without even trying. Perhaps it's his eyes. It feels like his eyes mirror his emotions, so it's easier to relate to him even though you're just staring at his ridiculously gorgeous face. This being said, it didn't surprise Ellie when the customers empathize with his statement.
Some people even said that he should break up with his so-called girlfriend. He's so adorable that they know it wouldn't be hard for him to find someone new.
"I'll prove to her that I'm not boring by singing."
Eleanor crosses her arm when the people cheer for him. 'Huh. As if he can sing.' The female vampire smirks. She can already tell that this is going to be an epic fail.
She's proven wrong when he starts singing. The melody of the song is soft and so is his voice.
"We were so beautiful, we were so tragic. No other magic could ever compare~"
Eleanor's palms are sweaty. The way Sage sings makes her stomach flutter.
"Lost myself, seventeen, then you came, found me. No other magic could ever compare~"
Sage Alterio is just a broken, ruthless vampire before he met Eleanor. Granted that they started in the wrong foot, but ever since their first meeting, he has always needed her.
Eleanor is only a little girl back then. An innocent soul who is needed by vampire who claims to be the strongest among all.
It's amusing how the strong one relies to the weak one. No other magic could ever compare to that. Eleanor was, is, and will always be his savior.
But as of the moment, she's the one who needs to be saved. She's like water, she fills all empty spaces, but she's too much for herself—she is drowning in her magic.
"There's a room, in my heart with the memories we made. Took 'em down but they're still in their frames. There's no way I could ever forget...."
Eleanor can't help but clutch her chest even if she can't feel her heartbeat. She lost it the second Sage hums.
He sounds so freaking good.
The audience is so moved that they starts waving their hands in the air. Some of them are even capturing the moment using their phones.
Ellie will definitely compel them to send to her the copy of the video later.
"For as long as I live and as long as I love I will never not think about you. You, mmm..." Sage smiles at Ellie before closing his eyes. His body moves in line with the beat
The lyrics of this song are ambitious, but it's exactly what Sage feels. He's bound to live for eternity and eternity is obviously a long, long time. He wouldn't mind thinking about her for that period of time.
"From the moment I loved, I knew you were the one, and no matter what I-I do, ooh, mmm. I will never not think about you~"
She's the one for him. Margaret is Sage's first love, but Eleanor is his greatest love. He realized this just this very moment. He loved Margaret because she was just like him: bad. While he loves Eleanor just because. It's greater than his first love for the reason that he is certain he can accept Human Eleanor and Vampire Eleanor. It's literally for worse or for better.
The immortal girl is just smiling throughout the whole song. She's in dazed that she didn't even realize that Sage is already back in his seat.
"Earth to Ellie?" And that he's talking to her.
"Fine. You're not boring and I like your voice." She confesses.
Sage winks at her. He starts blabbering stupid words again, however she's not listening since she is busy checking his sleeve tattoo.
'Always mad at the wrong things.' This is painted in his arms. There are other random drawings in it too. What caught her attention is the drawing of a cat in a box. Half of its face is dead, the other half looks alive and healthy.
Sage notices Eleanor looking at his ink.
"Schrödinger's cat..." He divulges.
"Hmm?"
"My tattoo," he looks at it. Among all things painted in his arms, this is his favorite. This is too personal, yet he explains its meaning to her without much of a hassle. "It means that once you put a cat and something that could kill it inside the box and sealed it, you wouldn't know if the cat is dead or alive until you opened the box."
It's a paradox. Eleanor seems confused so he continues explaining it.
"So until the box is opened, we can just assume the cat is both 'alive and dead.' Got it?"
Instead of responding, Ellie just extends her hand to touch the incredible ink. She strokes the cat's face that looks alive. As soon as she does this, event from the past welcomes her.
It's the time when she and the ruthless vampire went to Euphoria Park. It's weird because it's like she's not remembering the things according to what she felt that time. It's as if she's experiencing Sage's perspective.
She instantly realizes that this was what he felt during that time.
Eleanor can see herself seated in the Ferris wheel capsule, the soft rays of the sun reflect through her face. She looks so innocent that she even felt Sage's heart skipping a beat.
Eleanor clenches her fist. s**t. Her power as an enchantress and vampire is really powerful. How can she literally feel his emotions from that moment?
"You okay?" He caresses her clenched fist.
Eleanor flinches. She pulls her hand away from his touch.
Sage parts his lips to speak; only air comes out.
Eleanor sighs.
There's silence once again.
The enchantress needs to divert her attention before she remembers how great human Eleanor is.
"H-How's Jimin, by the way?" So she changes the topic.
The ruthless vampire seems delighted with the question. Does this mean Eleanor care for her brother?
"He's okay. Hope treated her!"
"Hope?" He sounded so excited that Eleanor can't help but ask. Is Hope a woman? Is she a vampire as well?
Sage is about to answer, but then he remembers how Hope reacted when she found out that Eleanor is both an enchantress and a vampire. She was so frightened that the ruthless bloodsucker can practically taste her fear in his mouth even though two weeks had already passed.
Hope doesn't want to associate herself with vampires anymore so... "No one," he looks away, but realizing that he's still under Eleanor's piercing glare, he abruptly stands up.
Date is over.
"Let's go." He hastily says.
Eleanor leans back on her seat, yet she doesn't feel the comfort the soft headboard offers. Admittedly, she's worried and going crazy.
She's not supposed to give a f**k because she's over him. However she can't deny the fact that she's so jealous it's gross.
All Eleanor can see is green and frankly, it's so much worse than the color red. At least red is everywhere, it can be the waitress, the customer, or the passerby, but with green, it's only Sage.
It's always just Sage.
