Eleanor is pathetic.
She only had one date with Sage, but the new Ellie she built for an entire year is already wavering.
He performed one romantic song, but the feelings she buried is resurfacing again.
He mentioned a girl's name and now, all she can see is green.
Again, Eleanor is pathetic. A weak minded girl who still craves love.
"f**k you!" She grits her teeth while glaring at Lana's empty bed.
Sage is a liar. He claimed that he's going to be the enchantress' new roommate, yet he's not around. The last place she saw him was at the diner and that's weeks ago.
It's irritating the hell out of Eleanor. She instantly disposed Lana's body and things to make room for the ruthless vampire's stuff. She feels like this effort to make Sage's move easier is all useless. Just...Where the hell is the ruthless vampire?
Well, he's staying at Hope's house. The witch is also pathetic because like Eleanor, Sage can easily sneak into her heart. It only took a simple apology and a bouquet of red roses to please Hope.
The ruthless untouchable said that he won't involve Hope into his messy relationship with the enchantress.
"I just want to be friends!" He halts her from shutting the door into his face again. "I'll die if Eleanor harms you!"
Hope stops struggling. She gawks at his awkward face.
"Flowers?"
The witch accepts the roses and then she lets him inside her abode.
"I'm only letting you in because I need your help." She claims.
Interesting.
It's always the ruthless vampire who needs her help. Now that he's given the opportunity to pay her back, Sage will surely return the favor.
And so the witch explains that she wants to find her twin brother as soon as possible. Limuel practices black magic, so it would be hard for Hope to do this alone.
Limuel might try to kill his sister if she tries to stop him. This being said, Sage, an immortal being, can be the one to take Limuel down without so much of a sweat. Sure, Limuel is powerful but his abilities do not equal to Eleanor's gift. He can try to harm the ruthless vampire, but he won't succeed in murdering him.
"Anything new?" Sage asks a few weeks later. He's seated on the floor with Hope who is busy chanting foreign words.
The witch hums—making Sage exhale. Truthfully, he's bored. He's been watching this girl perform magic for weeks now. Sadly, they still don't have a clue about Limuel's whereabouts.
"Seriously? Nothing?" Sage groans. He's determined to help Hope. However, he doesn't understand why it's necessary for him to sit with her while she performs spell. This is not something he likes to do.
He should be with Eleanor right now. He misses her every damn second of his life. He wonders if she's has eaten yet, or if she's flirting with stupid college boys.
"Ssshh!" Hope's eyes flutter open.
"What?" Sage rolls his eyes. What else does this witch want when he's not even talking anymore?
"Your mind is flooded with petty thoughts. Shut up and empty your mind."
"What—" He didn't continue speaking upon realizing that Hope already closed her eyes. This just means that she's way too deep in whatever she's doing.
Minutes have passed and Sage is becoming more bored.
He sighs once again.
The room is cold and dark. They're literally surrounded by small candles, though it's not enough.
"Hey, Jimin wants to see you again."
They hybrid and his uncle have been sending text messages these days. Jimin claims that Elijah doesn't know about this, but Sage is pretty sure that the adoptive father just doesn't want to upset his son by forbidding him into talking to the ruthless vampire.
As long as Sage doesn't make himself physically available in Jimin's life, it's fine. Elijah refuses to cut off the creatures his son treasures the most. It would be cruel especially because the hybrid doesn't have much people or vampire in his life.
"Really?"
The untouchable is shocked when Hope reacted. He thought she's lost into the hocus pocus stuff.
"Yeah, though I'm not allowed to be here when he visits," his lips protrude into pout. Jimin's fun to be with these days. It's a shame that Sage can't hang out with him anymore.
"Says who?" With a single snap, the lights of the candles go off. Hope decides to stop for the mean time for the reason that she's exhausted. Moreover, there's no progress at all.
Limuel is obscuring himself and he's damn good at it. His twin sister tried almost all spells and tricks to track his location, but nothing came up. She is aware that it's her fault, though. She knows what's coming the second she removes the chain, yet she still did it.
Limuel is good at manipulating everyone too. He begged his sister using his puppy eyes and broken heart just so he can be liberated.
"This is my house so I can invite anyone." She shows a thumbs up sign. "You're welcome to stay here when Jimin visits. I think I can handle Elijah's wrath."
It's not just Jimin and Sage who are texting each other. Elijah has been exchanging messages with the witch too. He feels as though he's indebted to Hope for saving the mortal vampire's life, so he sends her texts from time to time to ask her if she needs anything. Thankfully, he has something she needs. Elijah's been informing Hope all the magic tricks he learned from Cassandra years ago. Actually, the spell Hope's performing today is taught to her by the very first untouchable.
"I can even convince him not to hate you. Hmm?" Hope wiggles her brow, but Sage just shakes his head.
"Nah. I was a jerk to him and Jimin. I think I should earn his trust naturally."
"You're a good vampire, you know."
Sage runs his tongue through his lower lip to stop himself from cackling. A good vampire? She's only saying that because she isn't aware of all the nasty things he did.
Hope is just like Eleanor. They're idealists and they're always trying to see the good in someone.
"Treat me dinner if you think I'm good," he teases.
Hope knits her brow.
"Sure. Where should we go?"
He gets into his feet
"There's a nice sushi bar next alley.”
Hope extends her hand—a sign that she wants Sage to pull it to help her stand up.
Sage rolls his eyes but he still grips her hand.
"What's wrong?" He inquires when Hope acted as if she's about to faint. She also flinches from his touch.
"I used your energy, Sage." Hope confesses.
"Doesn't matter." He says almost instantly. He only wants to know if she's alright.
"No. You don't understand." She clutches her chest. It feels heavy. "I-I found him. I found my Limuel..."
She says Sage's energy is bound to be exhausted by daydreaming about Eleanor, so when Hope touched the vampire's hand, she accidentally used his energy and suddenly, all she can see is Eleanor.
She can see Eleanor's pretty face, the color of her shirt, and most importantly, she can see that Eleanor is... "With him."
Hope's lips tremble as she continues to speak.
"Eleanor is with Limuel."
