512 Words
Jade decided it was for the best that she get up for the day. Besides she couldn't go back to sleep after being shivered awake like that again. She went into her little bathroom and drew a bath. Even though she had already taken a shower last night. She had sweat dripping down her neck and forehead. She wondered if her anxiety was so bad only because she didn't know what today had in store for her. She dipped her toes in the water. Temp just right, and plunged into the warm water. Immediately feeling more relaxed. Though her long slender legs hung out of the bath. She thought to herself. How funny.. as of next semester I'll be an Interior Designer, but my apartment looks like s**t. She didn't mind though. It was a fixer-upper, and cozy for sure, but she had big plans on moving closer to home, and closer to the city. She laid in the bath until it started to cool, and got out to start her day. She started by washing her face with cleanser seeing that every pore was clean, and then some sunscreen and moisturizer. Her face was soft and angular. She started towards the kitchen. Pulling the blender out, and immediately cursed thoughts came to mind. "put your hand in it." she put some carrots in. "you know you can bite through your finger as easily as a baby carrot, but you just don't" She winced at the thought and added strawberries, and raspberries and half an avocado. She added a scoop of chocolate protein mix and blended away. Pushing those intrusive thoughts away and a piece of toast in the toaster. She got out the skillet and turned the gas lit stove on. "Wonder if my skin would bubble, if I put my hand in the flame?" Soon after the sweet and savory aroma of bacon spread throughout her little apartment. Her stomach growled and she didn't know if it was nausea from the thought or the scent of turkey bacon, but one thing is true. nausea is just hunger in disguise. "s**t" is all Jade could say to herself. She forgot to eat lunch and dinner yesterday. Her mouth started to water, and her throat was heavy with hunger. She began drinking her protein shake, savoring the sweet tastes. and checking her phone for texts. Nothing. The toast popped up, and bacon sizzled to a crisp. She sliced the rest of the avocado and put it on the toast. She had always been one to start her morning off with breakfast and a run. So she savored her delicious breakfast and followed her Dr. Christina's advice. After all, she once said, it'll help give you energy and not to mention Dopamine that your body lacks. She hummed along to the sound of her ear buds, succumbing to the rhythm of Queen's greatest hits. It was a crisp September morning run, and that is exactly what she needed to start off the year. "I'm having such a good time.. I'm having a ball."
