Las Vegas...
Eric sat on the chair in his office talking on his phone to his client Mr. Baron, a General manager of the Eastern Brothers company on the line.
Eric, tall with broad shoulders and a handsome face unmatched, his hair as dark as midnight and his eyes as clear as the blue sky with no cloud and his smile unresisting as the devil's offer.
Eric grimaced at the name of the company but the Eastern Brothers were among the top companies in the world.
They have branches across the world and Eric as a business man wanted to ally with them.
Eric, as a general contractor, was looking forward to building the next branch the Eastern Brothers were planning to open in Beijing.
Nadine, His secretary was standing in front of him. Fair-skinned, tall with model-like features and a sultry aura around her.
Eric signaled to her to hand over the documents, she was holding in her hands to him.
He also signaled to her to get him a cup of coffee while he was still talking to Mr. Baron on the phone.
His secretary left to get his coffee and she came back with it, he nodded his head at her to thank her.
Nadine left his office, seeing that she had nothing to do for him.
Eric drank his coffee, enjoying every delicious drop of it, he was in a good mood as he was expecting Mr. Baron to give him the pleasant news that he would be working on the project for the Eastern Brothers international company.
He was in a good mood and it was evident in his demeanor.
"Mr. Baron, let's forget about the introduction, we have already passed that. Let's get to the main point, shall we?" Eric said, his voice, eager.
"Well about that, the deal is already yours but there is a minor issue. You know Mr. Peters is an old man and he has a certain way he thinks, He thinks differently". Mr. Baron stuttered as he spoke.
"Can you get to the point Mr. Baron?" Eric was getting irritated at Mr. Baron.
Suddenly his mood changed, his mood became sour and he had a strange expression on his face, he was trying to control his anger from showing in his voice.
"What do you mean by that?" Eric bellowed.
Mr Baron cleared his throat and repeated what he had just said, "Mr Peters will never give the contract to someone who isn't committed," his tone firm and absolute.
"The bloody hell he won't!" Eric exclaimed in anger.
Eric dropped the phone roughly on the desk, his hand balling to a fist as he stamped on the table in anger, he was visibly annoyed. He couldn't believe how everything was changing.
Eric groaned in frustration, rubbing his hands on his face in restrained anger.
Nadine came into his office with questions in her eyes, she looked at him and came to his side, massaged his shoulders, and touched his face carefully, she didn't want to annoy him any further.
Nadine, couldn't help but notice his moody expression. She had worked with Eric for years, and she had seen him upset before, but this was different. His fury hung in the air like an ominous storm cloud, casting a dark shadow over the entire office.
"Sir," she began cautiously, "is everything okay? You seem really upset.
Nadine was just concerned for her boss but it wasn't solving the matter on the ground.
Eric's head snapped up, and his steely gaze bore into Nadine. He didn't say a word, but the anger in his eyes spoke volumes. Nadine's concern only seemed to infuriate him further.
Eric, trying to control his irritation from reflecting in his voice, "Don't worry about me Nadine, go back to what you were doing earlier."
But Nadine refused, he hadn't given her an answer.
"Nadine," he growled, his voice low and dangerous, "I told you I don't want to be bothered right now. Leave.
Eric was extremely irritated by Nadine's resistance, "Get the f**k out of my office right now." He bellowed at Nadine.
Nadine recoiled, taken aback by his harsh response. She had never seen Eric like this before.
Swallowing her hurt and frustration, Nadine nodded slowly, hurt shone on her features, and turned to leave. As she walked away from his office, she couldn't help but feel the sting of tears welling up in her eyes.
His phone rang and he picked up the phone, he answered the call.
"Hey, buddy what's up?" Blake, Eric's friend said.
"You said today was the day of confirmation on the deal and I wanted to be the first to congratulate you, man," Blake said with happiness expressed in his voice, he was genuinely happy for Eric.
"Forget about the congratulations man, there's no deal man, just forget about it," Eric spoke, sighing sullenly.
"What's wrong Eric? hope there was no problem?" Blake said as he noticed the sadness in Eric's voice.
"You know what? let us meet at our usual spot and I'll tell you everything." Eric noticed that Blake was becoming worried and he didn't want to alarm his friend.
Blake was still trying to talk to Eric and get the full details when Eric hung the phone on him and kept on thinking about the next step to take.
Eric, having a chance of heart. He knew he was a bit harsh with Nadine. He pinched the bridge of his nose, he wouldn't claim he was the most perfect man in the world neither was he a meanie.
Eric heaved a sigh as he stood up from his seat, strolling to Nadine's desk.
Eric paused in his steps as he saw Nadine with a phone pressed close to her ear. She was in a heated conversation with her husband, "Steven! What do you mean you know I cheated on you with Covey?" She demanded.
Nadine pressed a hand to her lips, surprised, "Baby, you know I can never cheat on you. The person who told you about Covey and I is lying. I can never do that to you, My love."
This was the reason why he didn't trust women. If he guessed correctly, Nadine had slept with most of his friends and some of the staff in his corporation she was the true definition of an office slut.
'I guess my apology can take a breath' Eric thought as he strolled back to his office, Nadine was the last person he should be thinking of.
