Audrey's Pov
I fell off the bed once again, "What is wrong with you Connor! This is the upteenth time you kicked me off the bed. For goodness sakes, keep your legs on your side of the bed."
The whole entire night after tossing and turning. It's like he is out to get me. I got up and went back to bed. I'd rather sleep on the chair or on the floor, but he didn't let me. He said it wasn't 'gentleman like' of him but then again when has he ever been, a gentleman. After a couple of minutes his legs hit my face and that angered me even more because I just wanted to sleep.
"Connor stop! It isn't winter so stop making snow angels on the goddamn bed," I yelled out frustratedly.
"STOP yelling, it's your problem that your face is in the way of my legs." He grabbed the nearest pillow without opening his eyes and hugged it tightly.
"That. Doesn't. Make. Any. Sense," I emphasized each word. I just wanted to sleep, my eyelids were heavy and were ready to collapse any second now.
"Your face doesn't make any sense." What the hell is he talking about?
"You're so annoying." I stuffed the pillow next to me against my face.
"Audrey, let me sleep. Why are you even awake at this time? You should go to sleep." He rubbed his eye lazily, not opening his eyes once. I'm the reason why he can't sleep? You've got to be kidding me.
"I can't sleep, that's why I'm moving a lot," he explained.
"Well, what am I supposed to do about it Connor?" I asked. Just because he can't sleep doesn't mean he should ruin my sleep as well. I turn slightly facing him to see his eyes slightly open.
"Cuddle with me." The moon's reflection hit his face giving him a perfect glow. He's so adorable as he rubbed his eyes together like a baby. He tried to open his eyes but after a quick second they shut again. It was a good thing he couldn't see me right now otherwise he'd read me like an open book.
"You're hot when you're angry, very different from your regular self," he whispered. I dug the side of my face against the pillow and stared at him.
"I thought you hated me," I whispered.
"I don't...just confused," he said.
"I'm not sure how to act when you are around and it worries me because I'm never like this." I didn't say anything and stared at him.
"No more, now come." He wrapped his around my waist pulling me towards his chest. He shoved his neck in the crook of my neck, making himself comfortable. I tried to move him but he didn't budge, he breathed deeply warming me up.
"Connor what will Sara-" I stopped midway as I felt him snuggle in deeper.
"Don't overthink just sleep," he murmured. I complied, but couldn't help but feel guilty. I wanted to say something but the sound of his heavy breathing gave me warmth. Soon I was in a deep sleep.
*~*
"Stop moving honey, they'll wake up," someone said. I felt something bright flash against my eyes. I tried to open my eyes but the same flash that I felt earlier made me shut my eyes tightly as it blinded me.
"You're waking them up. I think we should go," someone said.
"One more." Another flash hit against my face. I finally managed to open my eyes to find Lauren, John, and Jullian standing in ou- Connor's room. I realized that my head was on top of Connors and his head was against my chest. The blanket was nowhere to be found, our legs were tangled and his arms were wrapped around my waist.
I tried to move him away but he wouldn't let me, instead he brought me closer to him.
"Stop moving," he whispered. I looked at him uncomfortably knowing that they were staring at us.
"Connor, wake up." I poked but he didn't budge. His parents stood in front of me and laughed.
"Please, five more minutes." He snuggled deeper into my chest. I felt my cheeks burn in embarrassment. Oh god. I tried to push him away once more but he tightened his grip on me as if I was his teddy bear.
"We'll just go, take your time." With that they all left. That was so embarrassing. I pushed his shoulders again but he didn't budge. What is it with this guy?
"Come on another minute," he whispered. I grabbed his hair tightly and pulled him back. He opened his eyes and moved my hand away from him. He looked at me confused. I quickly got up, went into the bathroom and shut the door behind me. After I freshened myself and got out of Connor's clothes even though I didn't want to. I got out to find Connor still sleeping...cute.
As I made my way downstairs I realized that what we did was a mistake. He had a girlfriend. How could I do that to Sarah? This is technically cheating, right? What will happen when she finds out? How would she react? No, no, no I'm a horrible person. I felt the tears that were bottled in make their way up. I should have stopped it from happening.
I stood in the kitchen looking for Sarah but she wasn't there. Did she leave? Does that mean she saw us? What should I do now? I felt someone's arms wrap around my waist pulling me back against their chest. Connor. I felt him but his head on my shoulder and set it there. This isn't right.
"Connor, let me go." I need to stay away from him.
"No." He said in return. I felt the anger built up by the second. He needed to let me go.
"You have a girlfriend Connor and Sarah is my best friend," I cringed as I said that. I'd have to get used to calling her just Sarah even if I didn't want to. I used to call her Sar, it was a nickname that I'd given her when we were little. I was hurt, but after last night, I knew that something was odd. I made my way inside the kitchen and greeted everyone.
"Good morning." They all laughed at me and greeted me back. Looks like everyone knows about, well that's just great.
"What's for breakfast?" he asked.
"Are you two love birds going to stand there all day or come and eat with us?" John asked while smiling.
I sat down next to Rachel who smiled at me which was very odd for her to do.
"How are you feeling?" Rachel asked. I looked around slightly to see who she was talking to and she was looking at me directly. Was she really asking me that?
"Better," I whispered. Was Rachel actually talking to me willingly? Especially since she never interacted with me.
"That's good," she said and I nodded, giving her a warm smile and she smiled in return. I wanted to hug her tightly, never wanting this moment to disappear because I wasn't sure if she'd stay like this with me. I grabbed my plate and put toast on it thinking that it would be enough for me but Connor thought it wasn't. He grabbed more items and filled my plate up. I look up at him to see him motioning me to eat the food he put in my place.
"Okay, we've decided that you both will live at each other's houses for the week and alternate," John said.
"What does that even mean?" Connor asked.
"For a week both of you will stay here and the next at Audrey's. You'll continue doing that so that you two can get comfortable with the family. After you get married it will be a lot easier for you."
"Why? I don't think it is necessary," Connor said angrily.
"Why not?" Lauren asked suspiciously.
Connor got up, angrily pushing the chair back slightly.
"Connor," Jullian said, but Connor made his way out. I completely agreed with him. We need to figure out a way to stop this marriage. It is getting way out of hand.
Connors Pov
Calm down, think this through. This is all a test, they must be testing you. That explains why they'd want us to stay over at each other's houses.
"I thought you two were getting along?" Mother asked as she made her way inside my room.
"It's not that I just need my own space," I said, trying to compromise with her. Maybe then she would listen to me and maybe just maybe not let me stay with her.
"You are going to live with her for the rest of your life. You do know that right?" Lauren asked.
I nodded. "But that doesn't mean we should start now. We have the rest of our life for that, but for now I need my own space, Mom," I reasoned. My grandpa came in of course he had to be here.
"You can stay home, I'll just call them and tell-" I cut grandpa off.
"You wouldn't dare. Look, I listened to you. I'm making this relationship work. Now don't you dare do anything to him," I spat out angrily. Grandpa nodded and motioned me to gather all my stuff, "You have exactly thirty minutes to pack up your things. You're leaving right after you're done packing."
I walked towards my closet and grabbed my luggage.
"See, now that wasn't so hard now was it," Grandpa said and made his way out of the room. I threw the luggage on my bed and mom flinched back.
If only she knew that he was using him as bait. If she knew then she'd never want this marriage to happen.
