Interrupted dream
Cold breeze coming in through the large wood framed glass door in the early hours the morning sending dandelions flying into the room as the silky white curtains blow away to reveal a naked figure standing in the balcony, leaning on the balustrade, cigarette in hand, as her black curly Afro hair dances with the breeze. Her rich caramel toned skin glistening as the rising African summer sun hits her skin and enunciates her wine glass figure. She had been standing out on the balcony for close to thirty minutes admiring the landscape and wildlife outside their safari hotel room. His eyes lay fixed on her silhouette in admiration.
“Aren’t you worried about who might see you?” He calls out.
“You mean those Zebras over there?” she responds pointing towards the animals that were grazing in the safari meadow beyond the hotel grounds.
“I meant the other tourists enjoying breakfast on the lawn right below this room”
“Let them watch. This body should be displayed in a museum anyway.” She responds with a smirk as she turns to face him.
The sun radiating on her face enunciates her cheekbones. Her light brown doe eyes sparkle. A breath taking sight.
She blows out a cloud of smoke and puts out the cigarettes on the silver ashtray that had been placed on the coffee table in the corner of the hotel balcony and walks in towards him. She removes the white silk sheets that were covering him and lays on top of him. their eyes interlock. She twirls her fingers on his neck length dread locs and leans in for a kiss. Riiiiinnnnnngggggggg
His 7:00 AM alarm cuts his fantasy short just as it was about to reach its c****x. He’s not in any fancy hotel room with a beautiful woman, he’s in his messy mortal Kombart themed bedroom.
Knock knock
“Pat, get ready for school the bus will be here in forty minutes. You don’t want to be late on the first day of your last week of high school” his mother calls out from the other side of the door.
“I’ll be out in a second” he calls back
Right. It was just a dream. The same dream that has been reoccurring for the past two weeks.
Forty minutes later, he comes down the stairs fully dressed in his school uniform of grey pair of cotton trousers and white long sleeved shirt that had a blue school emblem on its pocket, finished with a blue, white and black stripped necktie and finds his mother packing his lunch in his red backpack.
“Don’t you think I’m too old for home cooked lunch?”
“Nonsense. I’m not letting my son eat some stale lunch from some school cafeteria when I’m a professional chef”
“I’m not a little boy anymore”
“That doesn’t mean you have to eat boring food. I also packed two extra lunch boxes for those two friends of yours”
“I have to leave before the bus leaves me and you need to be at the restaurant. See you later” he says as he grabs his backpack and heads towards the door.
“I love you” his mother calls out
“I love you too” he responds while closing the door behind him.
