Outline #010 - Exclusive

Dr. Rheon Dreyar was nothing but a failure. A washed-up surgeon, betrayed and left for dead—shoved off a building by his cheating girlfriend’s lover. As he plummeted, he accepted his fate.

But fate had other plans.

Red awakens in a world far from his own, reborn into an era where steel and sorcery reign. With nothing but his medical knowledge and a strange, cursed power awakening within him, he stumbles upon a fallen warrior on the brink of death. He saves them, only to discover the truth—his patient is Atheia Mornight, the Crown Princess and one of the kingdom’s most feared knights.

His reward? A royal appointment as the kingdom’s apothecary. His punishment? The crushing weight of impossible expectations, deadly palace intrigue, and a power he barely understands.

In this brutal new world, failure means death. And Red has failed enough for one lifetime.

The Betrayal
"Dr. Rheon Dreyar, you’re fired!" The furious roar of the hospital director ripped through the office, loud enough to gather a crowd outside the glass-paneled window. Doctors, nurses, and even a few curious patients stood frozen, their eyes locked on the unfolding disaster. Rheon barely had time to react inside before a stack of papers was hurled straight at his face. The sharp edges bit against his skin as they scattered across the floor. He knelt instinctively, fingers scrambling to gather them, but the director wasn’t done. Rheon Dreyar, Jenkins Hospital’s most excellent surgeon, son of the world’s top 1 cardio surgeon, has gotten himself in deep trouble. And not one caused by him either. "A f*****g lawsuit! Do you have any idea how much your malpractice has cost us?!" The director’s voice was venomous, his face flushed with rage. "How the hell are we supposed to recover from this, huh?!" Rheon flinched, but before he could respond, the man snatched one of the documents from the floor and shoved it toward him. "Failure to provide appropriate treatment? Negligence? What is this bullshit?!" "Director, listen—" "I’m done listening to your excuses!" The director’s fists clenched, barely restraining himself from throwing something else. "Get your s**t together and get the hell out. If you’re not gone in five minutes, I’ll drag you out myself." With one last glare, he stormed out, his shouts of frustration trailing down the corridor. The room fell into suffocating silence. Rheon remained on his knees, fingers curling around the scattered papers, his mind racing. He could feel the weight of a dozen stares pressing into him—the judgment, the whispered speculations, the silent disdain of his so-called colleagues. Not one of them moved to help. “It wasn’t me who gave the wrong medication,” he muttered under his breath. A scoff came from behind. “What’s that, Red? Blaming someone else now?” Dr. Marcus sneered, arms crossed as he leaned against the doorframe. Marcus was one of his colleagues. But he never hid his disdain or jealousy from Red. Rheon—nicknamed Red for his striking auburn hair—kept his jaw shut. His fingers twitched, itching to grab Marcus by the collar, but he knew better than to make a scene. He had already lost enough today. With measured breaths, he stuffed the last of his belongings into a box. As he passed Marcus, he whispered low enough for only him to hear. “I know what you did, Marcus.” Marcus’s smirk faltered, his jaw tightening, “The f**k did you say, asshole?” “You wanted me gone so badly because you can’t cover your own incompetence?” Rheon’s voice was eerily calm. “Well, I’m not going down alone.” Marcus scoffed, "Are you accusing me of something?" Rheon smiled, cold and sharp. "I pulled the CCTV footage. You injected penicillin into a hypersensitive patient. You stood there and watched her die without even attempting to clear her airway.” For the first time, panic flickered in Marcus’s eyes. Rheon took a step closer. "I’m not stupid, Marcus. And the director will hear about this." Before Marcus could lash out, one of their colleagues grabbed his arm, holding him back. Rheon didn’t wait for a response. He turned on his heel and walked out. He had known from the start. Someone had been sabotaging him for months, and Marcus, who had always hated his guts—had finally made his move. Even worse, it all started when Rheon introduced his fiancée. "f**k you! I’m not done with you yet!" Marcus's voice echoed down the hallway, but Rheon didn’t look back. As he made his way out of the hospital, a familiar voice called after him. "Where are you going, boy?" Rheon halted. Of all the people in this wretched place, Nurse Judy was the only one who had ever treated him like a person. He forced a smile. "It's my last day here, Judy." Her expression hardened. "Bullshit. You've been here five years. You're one of the best surgeons we have—" "Had," he corrected. "I lost my certification today. If things go as planned, I'll lose my license soon too." Judy swore under her breath. "Did you even get a chance to defend yourself?" "I didn’t have to," Rheon said bitterly. "You know he wouldn’t listen." Judy exhaled sharply. "Who set you up? Marcus?" Rheon’s fingers clenched around the box in his arms. "That scumbag is going after your girl, and now your career too—" She stopped, realizing her mistake too late. Rheon’s world tilted. "What?" His voice was barely above a whisper. Judy paled. "Oh, God, Red. I thought you knew…" Two things ran through his mind. The firing. And now, his fiancée. “Rheon, wait!” Judy shouted after him as he stormed back into the office, alerting everyone in the workplace. Now everyone can see. The office door slammed open with a force that rattled the windows. Marcus barely had time to react before Rheon was on him, grabbing him by the collar and shoving him against the desk. "What the f**k is wrong with you?!" Rheon snarled. Before Marcus could respond, another voice rang out. "Marcus?! Babe?! What's wrong—" Lena. Rheon turned his head slowly. His fiancée stood in the doorway, her eyes widening in horror as she saw him. Something inside Rheon cracked. "Babe?" his voice was dangerously low. "How many babes do you have, Lena?" Her face drained of color, "R-Rheon—" He released Marcus with a shove, raking a hand through his hair in disbelief. "We’re supposed to get married next month, Lena!" "Rheon, listen—" "Did you plan this together?" His voice shook with fury. "Get me fired? Slap a lawsuit on me? For f**k’s sake, I’m still paying off your med school debts!" "Rheon, you don’t understand—" "Friends?" Rheon let out a bitter laugh. "That’s not what you said when you were in my bed last night," Marcus chimed in smugly. Lena's breath hitched. Rheon took a slow, shuddering inhale. “You scumbag.” Marcus sneered, “What are you gonna do, Red? Complain? Who the hell’s going to believe you?” “The director will have to.” Rheon lifted his phone, the screen displaying the damning footage—Marcus’s fatal mistake. The color drained from Marcus’s face for a split second before rage twisted his features. With a snarl, he lunged. The punch came hard and fast, splitting Rheon’s lip as blood splattered onto the cold floor. Pain rang through his skull, but he barely had time to process it before instinct took over. He swung back. The force of the hit sent Marcus stumbling, his eyes wide with disbelief. He hadn’t expected Rheon—the silent, mild-mannered doctor—to fight back. “You’ll f*****g regret that.” The office erupted into chaos. Fists flew, bones cracked, and the once-pristine room was smeared with crimson. Lena screamed, trying to pull them apart, but neither man stopped. The fight had spiraled into something primal, years of resentment and betrayal exploding in a violent clash. Then Marcus shoved Rheon. The impact sent him stumbling backward—toward the open balcony doors. Cold wind howled around him as he struggled to regain his footing, but Marcus was relentless. "I f*****g hate you! I’m going to kill you, you cocky bastard!" Panic spiked through Rheon as he tried to move back toward the office, but a sharp elbow slammed into his temple. The world tilted. ‘At this rate, I’m going to die.’ A hand clamped around his throat. Marcus’s breath was hot against his ear as he growled, “The world is better without you, Rheon Dreyar.” The metal railing pressed into his back. “W…What? You’re actually going to kill me?” Rheon rasped, his hands clawing at Marcus’s grip. Marcus chuckled darkly, “Oh, I will. And no one will ever know. Right, Lena?” Through his blurred vision, Rheon turned to her—his last hope, the woman he once loved. His fingers reached out, trembling, seeking something—anything. A flicker of regret. A trace of guilt. A sign that she hadn’t completely abandoned him. But Lena couldn’t even look at him. Marcus leaned in, voice a low murmur, “Sad, isn’t it? She doesn’t care, Rheon. She never did. You’re a failure. Just like your father.” Rheon’s jaw clenched. His grip tightened on Marcus’s arm, but the bastard only grinned. "Goodbye, Rheon Dreyar. I’ll see you in hell." With one final shove, Marcus sent him over the edge. The last thing Rheon remembered was the sensation of weightlessness— And then, nothing but darkness.
