Chapter Twelve

Enzo’s POV

I pulled her back up from our kiss,

“Are you ready, baby girl?” I said, grabbing her hand.

She nodded her head and we walked in, we walked over to the stage and stood off the stairs for a moment. I heard Elder Stewart, he introduced us, and we walked up the stage. We stood to the right of him. He turned towards us.

“Sterling Verlice, do you swear to hold yourself to our laws and do what is best for the pack?” He asked her

“I do.” She spoke

“Do you swear to do your best to love and stand by your Alpha until the end of your days? “I do.” She spoke

My mom and dad stepped forward now, “Are you Alpha Stark handing over the Alpha duties to your son Enzo?”

“I am,” my father smiled.

“Are you Luna Julie handing over the Luna duties to Sterling?”

“I am,” my mother smiled.

“If you step forward for me, please hand me and hold out your right hand,” Elder Stewart said.

He took the blade and sliced their palms. He turned towards us. We both gave him our right hands and he cut his palms. I walked over to my father, and we stood over the gold bowl. We pressed hands together. I felt a surge of power burst into my hand and burst up into the rest of my body. After we did this, mom and Sterling repeated,

“Sterling and Enzo, please step forward and press your palms together as well,” Elder Stewart said.

She stepped up next to me on my left. We both pressed our right hands together, I felt our bond grow stronger and I felt the pack bond. We both turned to the crowd.

“Red moon pack I give you your Alpha Enzo and Luna Sterling!” He yells with his arms pointing towards us.

The crowd erupted in cheers and clapping. I turned to Sterling and pulled her close and kissed her. She put her hand on my neck, I leaned back and pecked her lips once more.

“Eat, drink and enjoy.” I shouted.

Sterling and I went to our table and sat down. Everyone started to come and greet us,

“Hello Alpha, Luna,” Colton bowed his head.

“Hello Colton”, Sterling and I both said.

Colton turns 18 next week. He is my other best friend. Zeke is going to be my beta and Colton my gamma. Sterling and I got up and started to walk around to say hello to everyone. We tried to find her mom, but someone said she had taken off in a hurry. Sterling seemed a little upset about it.

“Are you ready to go?” I asked her.

We started towards the park hall and up to our room. Once we got up to our room, we changed and went back downstairs with our pack. When the new Alpha and Luna took over, we went off privately and shifted together for the first time. It strengthens our bond more. I was a little nervous. I know Sterling hasn’t shifted yet; the first time was very painful. I am very curious to see what color her wolf will be. Everyone else’s is a shade of brown or gray, rogues are red. I am solid black with a white patch on my chest and one eye a complete color of emerald green and one-half emerald and gold. It’s not unusual for wolves to have different eye colors, we got to our clearing. I started to strip down, and she did as well.

“Are you nervous?” I asked her.

“A little bit” she sounded on edge.

“Just remember to try and concentrate on Sapphire. That will help, plus I’m right here.” I cooed to her.

The full moon was at its highest point, it was about time for us to shift together. I can feel Onyx pacing, he is so excited to see what Sapphire looks like. He has been bugging me all day about finally getting to meet her. I looked over at Sterling and could tell it was time. She yelled out in pain. I walked to her side; she was down on all fours. She is screaming in pain,

“I’m sorry baby the pain will be over soon.” I shouted over her cries.

Her claws started to come out. First I could hear her bones cracking. I stepped back and let Onyx take over. I think having him next to her will help bring comfort. I feel my bones crack and shift, I feel the fur coming out. I close my eyes for a moment and when I open them, I’m in my wolf form. I went over next to Sterling; she was almost done. I see her snout forming. This can’t be. She has finally completed her shift; Onyx is purring in my head like a big baby. I stand there amazed at what she looks like, she is completely white with a black patch on her chest that matches my mark.

“Open your eyes baby girl.” I mind linked her.

She flickered her eyes open, one was the color of Sapphire, the other one was half emerald green and half gold. I have never heard of a wolf having three different eye colors, let’s alone a wolf being the color of snow, expected from the spot on her chest.

“What do I look like?” She mine linked me.

“You look beautiful my Luna.” Onyx walked over and bowed his head.

“Mom, can you dad and Lacie bring a large mirror out here for Sterling?”

“Absolutely, we will be right there.” She spoke.

“My mom, dad and sister are bringing a mirror for you, my love.” I said while licking her face.

Sapphire nuzzled her face into my fur. She is the perfect height for me to rest my head on hers.

“Wow. I’ve never seen a wolf with these colors like this.” My mom gasped.

They propped the mirror up against a tree, I walked over next to it and sat down. Sterling walked up to it, her eyes grew, you could tell she was in shock. I walked next to her and placed my head next to hers; I didn’t even notice, but half of my eyes matched perfectly with half hers. It looked like one solid emerald, green eye.

“You’re so handsome. Why do I look so different? I’ve never heard of a wolf having three eye colors and being snowy white?” She said through our mind link.

“I’m not sure but we will figure it out.” I said while I licked her.

“Honey, I just tried to link up with my mom and was met with a block,” Sterling said.

“Are you worried about her? Is something wrong?” I asked.

“She left the ceremony earlier in a rush and now she has a block up. Something seems off.” She sounded worried.

“I’ll send a guard to the house to check on her.” I said, nuzzling up next to her.

She nodded her heard.

“Mom, can you talk to Elder Stewart to see if he has heard of or knows anything about other wolves looking like this?” I questioned.

“Of course.” She spoke.

My father and Lacie picked up the mirror and turned towards the packhouse. I saw Sapphire from the corner of my eye. She walked over and flicks her tail across Onyx’s face. I could feel him getting aroused. I pulled back to let them have their privacy.

Enzo POV

Sterling and I had just shifted back and were putting our clothes back on.

“Alpha Enzo, you and Luna Sterling should come to her mom’s house sir.” Colton's mind-linked me.

“We are on our way now. No one is going to mess with anything until we get there.” I demanded.

I turned to Sterling, knowing she didn’t hear that mind link,

“I thought they would have gone at it longer.” She said, walking towards me and giggled,

“So did I baby.” I said to her.

She wrapped her arms around my waist, and I pulled her into me. I leaned down and gave her a peck on the lips.

“Come to baby mom's house,” I said to her.

She looked worried, “what happened?” She spoke.

“I’m not sure let’s go find out together.” I said, grabbing her hand.

We started towards her mom’s house; I could feel her emotions all over the place. As we got closer to his mom’s house, I could see Zeke and Colton standing in front waiting for us. The guards were standing in front of the house. I squeezed her hand to let her know to breathe.

“Alpha, Luna.” They both bowed their heads,

“Alpha, may we speak to you for just a moment?” Zeke asked.

I turned to Sterling, “ come here until I come back to get you. Colton, stay right here.” I pleaded with her.

She nodded her head, I turned to Zeke and walked towards the front.

“Sir, we need to go around the guards, so she won’t see us just yet,” Zeke said.

I nodded and we walked to the right side of them. The door busted down. There were claw marks all over the door frame and some blood. Once we reached the front door, we stepped inside. The furniture is destroyed, blood is everywhere. There are claw marks all over the walls. The photos are now all over the ground and busted to pieces. We followed the trail of blood down the hallway. The blood went into one room. I opened the door. The room was destroyed, curtains on the ground were shredded, blood smeared, the bed was broken in the hall. I turned back around and walked towards Sterling's room. I opened the door, horrified, her mother was lying on the ground, her neck snapped, and blood had been pouring out of her head. I walked over to her and crouched down. In her hand she had some hair but it didn’t look like hers.

“Zeke, I want someone to run DNA on this hair, get some gloves before you touch it.” I demanded.

Just then I heard running, Sterling’s scent was hitting me and fast. I got up and ran out of the room down to the hall to stop her.

She was bawling and screaming, “let me go damnit!” She was screaming at me and trying to break free.

“I told you to stay outside until I came and got you!” I yelled.

“Where is my mother, Enzo, what is going on?” She said, beating on my chest, still trying to break free.

“Baby, I need you to calm down before I take you any further.” I spoke. I pulled her head to my chest and held her tight. I could feel her fear and anger.

“Baby, you need to calm down before Sapphire makes you shift.” I tried to calm her.

She was trying to control her breathing.

“Mom, I need you, dad, Elder Stewart, and Dr. I need to come to Sterling’s mom's house NOW! Tell Dr. Sneed to bring something to sedate Sterling.” I was trying to hide my mindlinking from her.

“What happened, son? We are on our way now!” She was yelling. I put up a block so Sterling wouldn’t see. I looked down at her.

“Are you calmed down enough?” I asked her.

She nodded her head, I grabbed her hand and placed my arm behind me, so I walked first. I stopped in front of her doorway. I turned around.

“I need you to take a deep breath for me baby” I said.

She inhaled and held it for a few minutes in between her tears and let it go. I stepped backwards a few steps for her to walk through. Her eyes widened. She fell to the ground screaming. I got on the ground and pulled her into my lap. I could feel her anger rising. Onyx was pissed. He was trying to get out to calm Sapphire. I had to fight hard to keep him back.

“WHY!! WHO WOULD DO THIS??” this was Sapphire helping out in pain. I could feel her starting to shift in my arms.

“Oh f**k!” Zeke yelled.

“BABY I NEED YOU TO BREATHE, I’M RIGHT HERE. LOOK AT ME.” I tried to yell over her growling and screams. She tossed her head towards me. I could see Sapphires. Eyes f**k, she was about to finish shifting.

“ENZO!?! STERLING?!” My mom yelled while running up the hallway with everyone else.

I had Zeke grab one arm and I grabbed the other, trying to stop her from shifting. She shook us off and through us into the wall, she let out the strongest growl and howled out in pain. I jumped up and ran over to her and tried my best to pin her down. She is strong. I didn’t expect that. My dad, Zeke, and mom helped me pin her down. Dr. Sneed stabbed her neck with a sedative. She was still trying to fight. I pulled Sapphire’s face into mine, I let Onyx surface while I stayed in human form.

“I’m here, my love. I’m so sorry.” He said, placing my forehead on her snout.

“I don’t understand. Why?” She started to whimper.

I pulled back and saw tears coming down from her eyes. She slowly closed her eyes. I could tell the sedative had kicked in. She started to shift pack. I pulled her close,

“Mom, can you get a blanket from one of the guards?” My mom ran out the door.

She ran back a moment later and handed me a blanket. I wrapped her in it and picked her up. I walked out of the house and towards one of our SUVs, I placed her in the back seat. Just then Rae and Everleigh came running up,

“What is going on?” They were shouting.

“Someone killed Casandra.” I hung my head, their eyes darkened, and they looked horrified.

“Sterling is sedated in the back seat, she shifted from the anger and pain. Do you mind watching her while I go back in for a moment?” I said to the saddened. They nodded their heads, I turned around and walked back in.
