Sterling’s POV
I looked at my clock. It’s 12:03, my wolf must be trying to take over. My body feels like it’s on fire, my bones start cracking all over. I’ve never felt so much pain in my life. I screamed out. I feel the fur start to bust through my skin and my hands start to stretch into their paws. Suddenly, I felt something latch down on me. It pierced my skin. The rogue must have gotten passed Rae, his jaws were around me. I get tossed into one of the packed houses and my head slams into the window. I hear the paws running towards me. I am fumbling to get up. I stand, and the rogue grabs me again, throwing me out in the open. I slammed into a few of the boulders and cried out. It felt like I'd been stabbed. My head was throbbing. I can’t breathe, panic is setting in. Then the most intense smell hit me; cedar and lavender. It was making my mouth water. I tried to get up to fight back. I felt so drained. I’m going to die before I can shift, the rogue is charging at me. I finally balance myself to try and fight, he hits me back again. I’m bleeding, my left leg is in so much pain. My vision is blurring going in and out. I’m able to open my eyes long enough to see my bone sticking out of my leg, I’m yelping and bawling, I feel the rogue’s jaws around me. I closed my eyes and was prepared to welcome the darkness. The rogues are hesitating, I hear the most angelic howl.
The smell hit me again but stronger. I opened my eyes and saw the most beautiful wolf. He is charging at the rogue; his eyes are a piercing emerald green. His hair is standing straight up, I feel myself being tossed. I slammed on the ground and rolled. The pain was taking over, my eyes were heavy, I was losing too much blood. I hear someone walking towards me, suddenly there are arms around me. I feel like I’m on fire, my body burns and feels like sparks are taking over, this doesn’t feel like pain. I tried to open my eyes but it was dark, I felt so weak. I feel a pair of soft warm lips kiss my forehead. It felt like goosebumps all over my body and it tingled on my forehead.
“It’s okay mate. I’m getting your help. Close your eyes.”
The deep sexy voice spoke, my heart felt like it was going to jump out of my chest. Did he just say mate? I can’t believe it. I try to speak and open my eyes; it does no good. My eyes shut again, and I was swallowed into the darkness.
Rae’s POV
I tried my best to help Sterling, she should have shifted by now. Those rogues were strong and huge. I don’t know why we were attacked. I was in the hospital wing getting looked over. I tried to find her before coming to the hospital to make sure she didn’t die. Everleigh was in the room with me getting looked at as well.
“Do you think she is dead?” Everleigh said while getting bandaged.
“I don’t know. Her scent was everywhere, I’m hoping she is alive.” I sounded broken.
I hope the Moon Goddess isn’t dead. I was getting consumed in my thoughts. The last thing I saw was a rogue throwing her around. I couldn’t get to her because there were too many of them.
“Everleigh, when did you last see her?”
“When she was standing up, she was covered in blood. I don’t understand why she should have been able to shift. It was past twelve at that point.”
She was right, she had her wolf.
“She could have been too weak to shift maybe, or her wolf didn’t feel safe enough to shift.” I whispered. I keep replaying the last moment I saw her. Her mom came running in.
“Where is she? Where is Sterling? Where is my daughter?” She was frantic.
“Casandra, I don’t know.” I knew she was about to go off.
“WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU DON’T KNOW?” She was yelling “WHERE THE HELL IS MY DAUGHTER?!” She was crying and grabbing my arms.
“Mrs. Verlice, we don’t know. We tried our best; the rogues were strong, at least 200 of them.” Everleigh was walking towards us.
“Please, tell me she isn’t dead. She can’t be, I can’t lose her.” Her mom was yelling.
She was starting to shift; I could hear her bones cracking. I ran to the nurse and quickly asked for a sedative. Everleigh and I are trying to hold her down. She is strong and snapping at us. Three more nurses ran in and tried to help us. Dr. Sneed finally rushed in and pushed the needling into her neck. She started to calm down, she closed her eyes. He picks her up and lays her on the bed.
“What is going on? Why did I just have to stop her from shifting?” Dr. Sneed sounded upset.
“She can’t find Sterling, none of us can. We don’t know if she is alive sir.” I was on the verge of tears.
“Don’t worry girls. I heard from the Alpha that no one from the pack died. He did say there are a lot of injuries though. She will turn up.” He put his hand on my shoulder to console me. “Thanks, I’m just scared. I don’t know what I would do without her. She is like my sister.” He pulled me into a hug. There was a loud growl, I jumped away from Dr. Sneed. Walked out to the hallway.
I looked up and saw Sterling being carried. She looked like she was dead. She was so pale, covered in blood. Her bone was sticking out of her leg. I started to cry; she was alive.
“Sterling!” I started to walk to her and then I noticed whose arms she was in. I stopped.
