The Morning
After I scrambled out of bed like the sheets were on fire. Cole Hart. The arrogant billionaire tech mogul who’d once slashed my client list with a single rumor. The same man who cost me my dream job three years ago. And now I was in his bed. Married to him. “You... this can’t be happening,” I stammered. Cole stood, unapologetically naked. “It happened. And it’s legal.” He pointed to the framed certificate on the nightstand. “Congratulations, wife.” The hangover faded instantly. Panic replaced it. “This is a joke. Just a drunken prank,” I said, fumbling for my phone. He handed me a bottle of water. “Relax. It’s Vegas. This happens all the time.” I eyed the marriage certificate. Stamped. Signed. Witnessed. “Then let’s annul it. Now.” He paused. “We could… but you might want to hear my offer first.” I blinked. “Offer?” Cole smirked. “I need a wife for the next ninety days. Public image, business deal. It’s complicated. You’ll be well compensated.” I nearly choked. “You think I’d fake a marriage with you for money?” He leaned closer. “You already married me by accident. What’s a few more weeks?” Then he dropped the bomb. “If you walk away, I’ll have no choice but to expose what really happened last night.” My heart stopped. What the hell happened last night?
