CHAPTER THREE

You’re Who?! I stared at Cole, trying to read his expression. “Expose what?” I asked, my voice shaking. He opened a tablet and played a video. Grainy footage showed me dancing on a bar, laughing like an i***t, and shouting, “Let’s get married, billionaire boy!” People cheered. Someone filmed. I looked wild. Unhinged. “If this leaks, you’ll lose more than your reputation,” he said softly. “It’s already making rounds online. I’ve kept it under wraps—for now.” My stomach flipped. “You set me up,” I whispered. “I didn’t. But I won’t lie—I can use this.” He walked over to the window and crossed his arms. “I have a billion-dollar merger on the line. Investors want stability. A wife equals trust. That’s where you come in.” I glared. “This is blackmail.” “Think of it as an opportunity,” he replied coolly. “You’ll live in my penthouse. Go to events. Pretend we’re in love.” “And after ninety days?” “We divorce. You walk away with half a million.” I bit my lip. I needed that money. My design studio was crumbling. Still… this man had destroyed my career once. Could I trust him now? “I’ll do it,” I said finally. “But I have one condition.” He raised an eyebrow. “I’m the one setting the rules.”
