BLACK DRAAGON BOSS SYSTEM
BLACK DRAGON BOSS SYSTEM Author: Jayquan Cunningham Chapter 1: The Worm of Block 17 Quan Davis was called a worm for 17 years. Every morning at West Side High, someone stepped on his shoes. Every afternoon in Block 17, Portmore, debt collectors kicked his door. Every night his mother coughed blood into a sink and told him "it's just allergies, baby." He was 17. 5'8. Skinny. Broke. Father died 3 years ago working construction. Death certificate said "accident". Quan knew it was murder. Victor Thorne owned the construction company. "Trash boy," Damon yelled in the hallway, dumping soda on Quan's head. "Your mom should've swallowed you." Quan wiped soda from his eyes and kept walking. Worms don't fight back. Worms survive. That night debt collectors broke their door. "Pay up, Davis," the leader said. "Victor Thorne wants his money. $50,000. Or we take your mother." Mom stepped in front of Quan. Thin, sick, but standing. "Touch my son and you'll answer to God." The man backhanded her. She fell. Blood on her lip. Quan moved. Not fast. Not strong. But he moved. And for the first time, something in his chest burned. Like a dragon waking up. [SYSTEM ACTIVATED: BLACK DRAGON BOSS SYSTEM] [HOST DETECTED: QUAN DAVIS. RANK: WORM. STRENGTH: 3/100] [WILL TO PROTECT MOTHER: 100%. CONDITIONMET.] The man froze. His eyes went wide. Then he ran. All of them ran. Quan knelt beside Mom. "You okay?" She touched his face. "You... you have your father's eyes." Quan didn't know what that meant. Not yet. [QUEST UNLOCKED: SURVIVE TOMORROW] [REWARD: 1 STRENGTH POINT] [FAILURE: DEATH] Quan looked at his hands. They were shaking. But they didn't feel weak anymore. "Ma," he whispered. "No one touches you again. I promise." Outside, the city was quiet. But in Quan's chest, a dragon heart started beating. END OF CHAPTER 1 Chapter 2: Dragon Heart Awakens Quan didn't sleep that night. The Black Dragon Boss System floated in front of his eyes, only he could see it. Blue text, gold borders. Like a game screen. [HOST: QUAN DAVIS] [RANK: WORM] [STRENGTH: 3/100] [SPEED: 5/100] [ENDURANCE: 4/100] [DRAGON HEART: SEALED - 0%] [MISSIONS: 1 ACTIVE] He touched his chest. Under his ribs, something hot pulsed. Not his normal heartbeat. Deeper. Older. Mom coughed in the next room. Wet, painful Chapter 2: Dragon Heart Awakens Quan didn't sleep that night. Wet, painfulcoughs. Cancer. Stage 4. Doctors said 6 months. That was 4 months ago. Quan stood up and went to her. She was asleep, curled around an old photo of Dad. "Dad, what were you?" Quan whispered to the photo. The photo flickered. For one second, Dad's eyes glowed gold. Then normal again. [DRAGON HEART SEAL WEAKENING: 0% → 1%] [CAUSE: BLOODLINE RESONANCE DETECTED] Quan jerked back. "What the hell?" The system chimed: [NEW MISSION: AVENGE FATHER'S DEATH] [TARGET: VICTOR THORNE, CEO THORNE CORP] [REWARD: DRAGON HEART 10% UNSEALED] [PENALTY FOR FAILURE: HOST DEATH IN 30 DAYS] Victor Thorne. Billionaire. Dragon King. The man who killed Dad. Quan clenched his fists. 3 Strength. He couldn't even break a brick. How was he supposed to kill a Dragon King? But then he looked at Mom. At her pale face. At the blood on her pillow. Worms survive. Dragons avenge. "Okay," Quan said to the system. "Teach me how to not be a worm." [ACCEPTED. BEGINNING TRAINING PROTOCOL.] [WARNING: TRAINING WILL CAUSE EXTREME PAIN. 99% OF HOSTS DIE.] Quan smiled. Bitter. "I was dying anyway." He dropped to the floor and started doing pushups. 1. 2. 3. His arms shook at 10. He collapsed at 15. [STRENGTH: 3/100 → 3.1/100] 0.1 gain. Pathetic. But Dragon Heart pulsed again. Hotter this time. "Again," Quan said through gritted teeth. Outside, the sun rose over Portmore. A new day. A new Quan. END OF CHAPTER 2 Chapter 3: The System Chooses The Weak 3 days of training. Quan's body was breaking. Bruises everywhere. Hands bleeding. But his stats were moving. [STRENGTH: 3.1 → 8/100] [SPEED: 5 → 9/100] ENDURANCE: 4 → 10/100] Still worm level. But moving. Damon cornered him after school. "Heard debt collectors visited you. Victor Thorne wants you dead, worm." Damon was Dragon Fang Stage 1. Strength 45. Son of Victor's bodyguard. "Run," Damon said, cracking his knuckles. "Makes it fun." Quan didn't run. System flashed: [COMBAT DETECTED. SURVIVAL RATE: 0.3%] [RECOMMENDATION: RUN] [HOST CHOICE: STAND] Quan stood. Knees shaking. But standing. Damon punched. Fast. 45 Strength. Quan dodged. Barely. The punch took his ear off instead of his skull. Blood ran down his neck. Pain exploded. But Dragon Heart burned hotter. [PAIN CONVERTED TO DRAGON AURA: +5%] [DRAGON HEART: 1% → 6%] Quan swung back. 8 Strength vs 45. His fist connected with Damon's jaw and... nothing. Damon laughed. "Is that all, worm?" Damon grabbed Quan's throat and lifted him off the ground. "Time to die." Mom's face flashed in Quan's mind. Her coughing. Her blood. Her "stay strong, baby". Something snapped in Quan's chest. DRAGON HEART SHATTERED ITS FIRST SEAL. [DRAGON HEART: 6% → 15%] [STRENGTH TEMP BOOST: 8 → 40/100] Quan's eyes turned gold. Scales flickered on his arms for 1 second. He drove his elbow into Damon's stomach. 40 Strength. Damon flew back 10 feet and crashed through a wall. Silence. Damon coughed blood. "You... you're not a worm..." Quan stumbled, the gold fading from his eyes. 15% Dragon Heart drained him. He collapsed to his knees. But he was breathing. Damon wasn't getting up. The system chimed, calm: [MISSION COMPLETE: SURVIVE DAMON] [REWARD: 5 STRENGTH PERMANENT] [NEW RANK: WORM → DRAGON SPROUT STAGE 1] [STRENGTH: 13/100] Quan looked at his hands. Still bleeding. Still shaking. But not a worm's hands anymore. "Ma," he whispered. "I'm coming home." END OF CHAPTER 3 Chapter 4: 100 Strength in One Night Quan spent the next week hiding. Damon told everyone Quan was a Dragon Sprout now. Half the school wanted to test him. The other half wanted to bow. He bowed to no one. Night after night he trained. Pushups till his arms gave out. Running till his lungs bled. Meditation till Dragon Heart pulsed steady at 15%. [STRENGTH: 13 → 25/100] [DRAGON HEART: 15% → 22%] But it wasn't enough. Victor Thorne had Dragon King bodyguards. Strength 200+. Quan was 25. He needed a shortcut. The system showed him one: [FORBIDDEN TRAINING: DRAGON BLOOD BATH] [EFFECT: STRENGTH x4 IN 12 HOURS] [COST: 90% CHANCE OF DEATH. PERMANENT ORGAN DAMAGE] Quan stared at it. Then looked at Mom sleeping, oxygen tank beside her bed. "Do it," he said. The system created a black pool of liquid in their bathroom. It smelled like iron and fire. "Strip and enter," the system said. "Don't scream. Screaming means death." Quan got in. Pain hit like 1000 knives. His skin melted. Bones broke and reformed. Blood turned black then red then gold. He didn't scream. Worms scream. Dragons endure. Hour 1: Skin gone. Hour 6: Consciousness fading. Hour 11: Heart stopping. Dragon Heart pumped once. Twice. Three times. [DRAGON BLOOD BATH: SUCCESS] [STRENGTH: 25 → 100/100] [SPEED: 9 → 40/100] [ENDURANCE: 10 → 47/100] [RANK: DRAGON SPROUT STAGE 1 → DRAGON FANG STAGE 2] [SIDE EFFECT: HAIR TURNED WHITE. EYES NOW GOLD] Quan crawled out of the pool. Naked, scarred, but alive. New skin, smooth and pale. White hair down to his shoulders. Eyes glowing faint gold. He looked in the mirror. Didn't recognize himself. "100 Strength," he whispered. His voice was deeper. "Enough to break Victor's door down." He flexed. The mirror cracked. Mom opened the bathroom door and gasped. "Quan? Baby, what happened to you?" Quan turned and hugged her. Gently. 100 Strength held her like glass. "Nothing bad, Ma," he said. "I just stopped being a worm." Outside, thunder rolled. The city felt it. Something changed tonight. END OF CHAPTER 4 Chapter 5: The Debt Collector's Son With 100 Strength, Quan walked into Thorne Corp's debt office. "Where's Victor?" he asked the receptionist. She looked at his white hair, gold eyes, and hit the panic button. 12 guards rushed in. All Dragon Fang Stage 1-3. Strength 30-60 each. Quan didn't dodge. He walked through them. Punch. 100 Strength. Guard flew through 3 walls. Kick. Guard's armor crumpled like paper. Grab. Threw another guard through the ceiling. 30 seconds. 12 guards down. Not dead. Just broken. "Victor," Quan said into the intercom. "You killed my father. You hurt my mother. Come down and face me." The intercom crackled. Victor's voice, smooth and cold: "Send the boy up. I want to see this 'worm' everyone fears." Top floor. Penthouse office. Floor to ceiling windows. Victor sat behind a black desk, 60 years old, suit worth more than Quan's life. But his eyes... slitted. Like a lizard's. Dragon King aura pressed down on Quan. Strength 300. Three times Quan's power. "Marcus's son," Victor said. "You look like him. Same defiant eyes. He died defiant too." Quan's fists clenched. "Where is he buried?" "Oh, we didn't bury him," Victor smiled. "Dragon Kings don't bury worms. We feed them to the sea." Dragon aura exploded from Victor. The windows cracked. Quan's Dragon Heart burned. 22% power. Not enough. But then Victor stood up and Quan saw it. On Victor's desk. A photo. Victor, younger, standing next to Dad. Both smiling. Both with gold eyes. "Brother," Victor said softly. "You shouldn't have taken the Dragon Heart and run. It belongs to the Thorne bloodline." Quan froze. "Dad was a Thorne?" "Half-brother," Victor said. "I killed him for stealing our inheritance. Now I'll kill you for stealing my fear." He raised his hand. Dragon Claw, 5 feet of black energy. Quan closed his eyes. If he died here, Mom died tomorrow. [DRAGON HEART: 22% → 30% - EMERGENCY OVERCLOCK] [STRENGTH: 100 → 150/100 TEMPORARY] Quan opened his eyes. Gold fire now, not just glow. "I don't care about inheritance," Quan said. "I care about my mother." He charged. Dragon Fang vs Dragon King. 150 vs 300. Their fists met. The building shook. Victor smiled. "Good. A Thorne should die fighting." Chapter 5 ends with Quan's fist against Victor's claw, glass shattering around them, while Mom feels a sharp pain in her chest 20 floors below and whispers "Quan?" END OF CHAPTER 5 Chapter 6: Dragon King’s Son Quan's fist met Victor's Dragon Claw. 150 Strength vs 300. The building shook but Quan's arm didn't break. Dragon Heart overclock held. Victor's smile faded. "Impossible. You're not even Stage 3 and you block me?" Quan didn't answer. He headbutted Victor. Gold forehead vs black claw. Both cracked. Blood ran down both their faces. "Marcus ran with the Dragon Heart," Victor said, claw pressing harder. "He thought he could hide it in a worm's son. But blood always returns to blood." Quan kneed Victor's stomach. 150 Strength made the Dragon King grunt. "You killed him," Quan said. "For what? Money?" Power," Victor corrected. "The Thorne bloodline rules Dragons. Marcus wanted to be human. Pathetic." The office windows exploded outward. 60 floors up, wind howled in. Papers flew like knives. Mom felt it 20 floors down. Clutched her chest. "Quan..." Dragon Heart sensed her pain. [DRAGON HEART: 30% → 35%] [STRENGTH: 150 → 175/100] Quan broke Victor's guard and drove his fist into the billionaire's ribs. Cracks echoed. Victor flew back through his desk. Victor stood up, blood on his teeth, still smiling. "Better. You're a Thorne after all." He pulled out a black dagger. Dragon King Bone Dagger. One cut kills any Dragon below Stage 4. "Time to end this family line," Victor said. Quan looked at the dagger. Then at the photo of him and Mom on Victor's desk. She was smiling. Before cancer. Before debt. Before worms. Rage replaced fear. "My mother," Quan said quietly, "is not part of your family line. She's better than all of you." Dragon Heart hit 35%. Gold fire covered Quan's body now. Victor threw the dagger. Fast enough to kill before Quan blinked. Quan caught it. Bare handed. 175 Strength crushed the Dragon King Bone to dust. Victor's eyes widened for the first time. "What are you?" Quan walked forward. Each step cracked the marble floor. "I'm the son Marcus Davis raised," Quan said. "Not a Thorne. A Davis. And Davises protect their family." He grabbed Victor by the throat and lifted the Dragon King off the ground. 300 Strength vs 175. But Victor wasn't resisting. He was staring at Quan's eyes. "Marcus's eyes," Victor whispered. "He won. Even dead, he won." Quan squeezed. Victor's windpipe crushed. The Dragon King of Cillust City died choking, staring at his nephew's gold eyes. [HOST KILLED: VICTOR THORNE, DRAGON KING] [DRAGON HEART: 35% → 50% - ABSORBED] [VICTOR'S CORE] [STRENGTH: 175 → 200/100 PERMANENT] [NEW RANK: DRAGON FANG STAGE 2 → DRAGON SOUL STAGE 1] Quan dropped the body. Hands shaking again. Not from fear. From power. 50% Dragon Heart meant half the First Dragon's power was his now. His phone buzzed. Mom texting: "Baby, are you okay? I felt something bad." Quan texted back with bloody fingers: "I'm okay Ma. Coming home. No one will hurt us again." Outside, news helicopters circled. BREAKING: THORNE CORP CEO FOUND DEAD IN OFFICE. Quan walked to the window and looked down at the city. At the people who called him worm. "I'm not a worm anymore," he said to the wind. Chapter 6 ends with Quan standing over Victor's corpse, 200 Strength, Dragon Soul Stage 1, while sirens rise from the streets below. END OF CHAPTER 6 Chapter 7: The Price of a Father Quan ran down 60 floors. Didn't use the elevator. Jumped between floors. 200 Strength made him faster than cars. He burst into Mom's hospital room. She was sitting up, holding her chest, tears on her face. "Quan!" She hugged him tight. "I felt it. Something terrible happened." "Victor's dead," Quan said into her hair. "He can't hurt us anymore." Mom pulled back and stared at his white hair, gold eyes, scars. "My baby... what did you become?" "Strong," Quan said. "Strong enough to protect you." The Black Dragon Boss System flashed: [WARNING: DRAGON HEART ABSORPTION SIDE EFFECT] [MEMORIES OF VICTOR THORNE INTEGRATING INTO HOST] [RISK: PERSONALITY CORRUPTION 40%] Quan staggered. Victor's memories flooded his mind. Killing Dad. Torturing debtors. Laughing while children cried. "Get out," Quan growled, clutching his head. "Get out of my head!" Mom grabbed his face. "Quan! Look at me! You're not him! You're my son!" Her voice cut through Victor's memories like light. The gold in Quan's eyes flickered back to brown, then gold again. Under control. [MEMORY INTEGRATION: 40% → 15% - MOTHER'S VOICE ANCHOR SUCCESSFUL] Quan breathed hard and knelt beside her bed. "I'm sorry, Ma. I killed him. But I didn't enjoy it. I swear." Mom touched his white hair. "I know. Because you're a Davis. Davises don't enjoy hurting people. We just stop them." She coughed. Blood this time. More than before. Quan's heart stopped. "Ma?" [DRAGON HEART 50%: NEW ABILITY UNLOCKED - LIFE TRANSFER] [COST: 10 YEARS OF HOST LIFESPAN PER HEALING] Without thinking, Quan pressed his hand to Mom's chest. Gold light flowed from him to her. Her coughing stopped. Color returned to her face. Cancer cells burned away in the light. Mom gasped and sat up straight. Breathing clear for the first time in years. "Quan... I feel... young again?" Quan collapsed. 10 years of lifespan gone. He was 17. Now his body felt 27. But Mom was healthy. Laughing. Crying. Hugging him. "Worth it," Quan whispered before passing out. When he woke up 3 hours later, Mom was cooking in the kitchen of their tiny apartment. No oxygen tank. No pills. Singing. She turned and smiled at him. "Welcome back, Dragon." Quan smiled back. First real smile in years. The system chimed softly: [NEW TITLE: SON WHO PAID THE PRICE] [EFFECT: WILL TO PROTECT MOTHER = UNBREAKABLE] Outside, Damon and Marcus watched the apartment from the shadows. Marcus whispered, "Dragon Soul Stage 1... and he healed her. We can't touch him now." Damon nodded, afraid. "No. We run." Chapter 7 ends with Quan eating Mom's cooking while his white hair slowly turns black again, and 10 years of lifespan sit on his shoulders like a crown. END OF CHAPTER 7
