Chapter 25
George Allyn died the next morning peacefully in his sleep. He didn’t want a funeral or for anyone to make a big deal about it. Marco couldn’t help but wonder if it was because he’d finally lost at something. He was cremated, his ashes with Aubrey’s mother until she was ready to let them go, and then when the time was right, she would spread them at their second home in Lake Tahoe.
The day after he died, Aubrey got in Marco’s car and came with him back to Willow Cove. She needed time to mourn, and there was something about being near the ocean that was therapeutic for her. He was just happy to have her with him again, even if it was only temporary.
