Chapter 2 Astrid POV “Help me.” I cried, not even sure where I was at the moment. I have been walking for hours but I still couldn't find shelter and I was losing my energy. I was in pain and would have a miscarriage if I didn't get help anytime soon. I had been escorted to the gates by the guards and from there, I was left alone to wander into the forest. My mum had kept screaming that she'll come with me but I had told her I'll be fine. I still didn't know if that promise was going to be kept but I was going to do everything I could to save my baby. “Help?” I cried out to the darkness. I wondered if it was possible to see anyone wandering in the forest like I was. I had never been pregnant before so I didn't know what I was going to do or not do. My legs and hands were so numb that I couldn't feel anything. My hands were on my stomach patting my baby, hoping that single action could help with the pain but it didn't. “Help me.. please..” I begged as I slowly gave in to the darkness that enveloped me. ****** The pain in my head was becoming unbearable and I wished I could pass out again but the rays of light from the broken mirror shone on my eyes making me wide awake and awake of my environment. My heart nearly jumped into my stomach when I saw a shadow pass me by and I noticed that I was in a shabby room and there was a man in here. Was I captured? I wondered. “Who are you?” I asked, trying to sit up but the pain in my tummy was unbearable. “I'll advise you to lay back down, so you don't lose your pregnancy since much harm has been done already.” My hands went to my stomach and I rubbed it. I felt whoever it was, dabbing my head with a warm towel. I was tired and I wanted to sleep but I feared for my life. Who was this strange man and why was he helping me? I needed to find out. “Thank God, I found you. You could have lost your pregnancy if I hadn't found you when I did.” How did he know about my pregnancy? I mean I never told anyone about it. It was supposed to be good news for Kai exactly the day I had found him having s*x with Charlotte. I jumped up from the bed, even with the pain to see who my saviour was and surprisingly, it was someone I knew and respected. “Uncle?” I gasped in surprise. “Call me, Ethan. It's not like I'm way older than you too.” He walked to the window to get something. How could he act like me being in his house was something normal. I mean I was banished. Ethan was Kai's Uncle. He has always been regarded as the black sheep of the family even though he never said much and was more successful than anyone in his family. “I have to leave now.” I said, getting up from the bed. I feared for his safety and didn't want to get him into trouble, I mean he saved my life. I was about to run to the front door when I stopped abruptly clutching my stomach with my hands. “Ahhh.” “Don't be stubborn, I told you to lay down or you'll lose your pregnancy completely.” His voice was intense but calm. He stands up and sweeps me up my feet and I mean literally then, carries me to the bed where he keeps me slowly on the bed. I didn't know if this was also the symptoms of pregnancy but my heart kept beating fast. What was happening? He stares down at me, then gives me a plate filled with a greenish substance. “Take this, it'll help you with your tummy.” He said. He went to sit on the chair opposite mine with a book in his eyes and his legs crossed. “The Alpha would kill you if he finds out that you housed me and I don't want that, so please show me the way out of here.” I said but he wasn't paying any attention to me. “No, show me the back door so I could run very far away.” “Just go through the front door since you are still as stubborn as ever.” He said without sparing me one look. I couldn't believe that he spoke to me that way. I hissed. What did I expect, he was Kai's Uncle after all. I scoffed as I stood up, keeping the plate he gave me on the small desk behind the bed. Only the goddess knew what he had put into it. That was how they behaved, all those from the Alpha's bloodline. Obnoxious and selfish beings. I made my way to the only door that I could see in the small dark room. I pushed the door open expecting to see the buzzing of people and cries of little children. I did see those but it was different. This place was entirely different from Shadowfell Park. I mean I have lived there all my life, even when I was a common omega so I would know this place was certainly not Shadowfell Park. “What is this place?” I asked him, shutting the door behind me. I needed to know where I was. “If you are keen on leaving then, I'll make it easier for you. I'll ask my guards to show you out. You can roam the forest but rogues are always out searching for food in the morning. So make this easy for me, Astrid Rogerhead and walk back inside, take your drugs and keep your baby safe.” This wasn't just a warming but an order. He took me by the hands and led me to the bed where he made me sit while handing me the plate of herbs again. “This will help keep your baby safe, so take it. It's not sweet but it'll help with your pain.” He said, with so much concern on his face. Was this the wrong time to recognise what a fine man Ethan was? He was way older and wiser than me and he was the uncle to my ex husband but he was indeed different from him. “Drink it.” He urged me and I did. It was very bitter but like he said, the pain in my abdomen suddenly disappeared. “What's this place?” I asked again after I emptied the contents of the plate. “This is my park and I'm the Alpha of this Park.” He was sitting so close to me that I could hear him breathe. There was just something about him that I couldn't explain. I felt butterflies in my stomach as he stared down at me. This was surely not a symptom of pregnancy because even my wolf was acting tingly and attached. “Mate.” He growled suddenly. What a shock!
