Chapter 1: Shattered Vows
The grand ballroom sparkled with lies. Crystal chandeliers cast golden light over laughing guests in silk and diamonds. At the altar, Ben stood tall in his black tuxedo, smiling down at his new bride — the woman who had taken my place.
I pushed open the heavy doors, my simple black dress torn at the hem. Heads turned. Whispers exploded like wildfire.
"Claudine? How dare she show up?"
Ben’s eyes met mine. For a split second, guilt flashed across his face. Then it hardened into cold anger.
"Security! Remove her now!"
Two large men grabbed my arms, their grip bruising. Pain shot through me, but it was nothing compared to the knife in my heart.
"You promised me forever, Ben!" I shouted, voice cracking but loud enough for everyone. "You called me your queen. Then you framed me as a cheating w***e and threw me out on our anniversary like I was worthless!"
Gasps filled the hall. Phones came out. His new bride smirked and clutched his arm tighter.
Ben stepped down, voice low and venomous. "You cheated. Everyone knows it. Stop embarrassing yourself."
Tears burned my eyes. I remembered the night his mother accused me. I had stayed silent to protect Ben from a clan threat, sacrificing my reputation. He believed her lies without question. He divorced me without listening.
The guards dragged me toward the exit. My feet slipped on the polished floor. Every whisper cut deeper: "Weak woman." "Home-wrecker." "She deserved it."
In that moment, something inside me broke — but also awakened. A quiet, burning resolve. I will never be this weak again.
Then a deep, commanding voice sliced through the chaos.
"Enough."
The room froze. The guards released me instantly.
A tall man in a midnight-black suit walked forward. Dark hair, sharp jaw, eyes like polished obsidian that held centuries of secrets. Power radiated from him — the kind that made alphas bow.
John.
He stopped near me, his presence alone making the guards step back in fear.
"This woman is under my protection now," he said calmly, yet his words carried undeniable weight. "Touch her again, and you answer to me."
Ben’s face paled. "Who the hell are you?"
John’s lips curved into a dangerous smile. "Someone who sees true potential where fools see only weakness."
He extended his hand to me. Steady. Warm. Dangerous.
My heart hammered. Taking it meant stepping into unknown shadows. Staying meant more humiliation, more pain.
But in my chest, the fire of betrayal burned hotter than fear.
I placed my trembling fingers in his.
As we walked out, Ben’s furious whisper followed us: "She’ll come crawling back. She’s nothing without me."
John led me to his sleek black car. Inside the luxurious silence, he looked at me with those intense eyes.
"I don’t help for free, Claudine."
My stomach twisted. "What do you want?"
"A contract. One year as my companion. In return, I awaken the royal hybrid blood sleeping in you — vampire speed, wolf strength, and the power to make everyone who betrayed you kneel."
I laughed bitterly, tears still wet on my cheeks. "Hybrid? I’m just the weak ex-wife everyone discarded."
John tilted my chin up gently. His touch sent an unexpected spark through me.
"You are not weak. You are dormant. Sign with me, and your real rise begins tonight."
The car pulled up to a gothic mansion shrouded in mist.
My old life was over. The pain of betrayal still cut deep, but for the first time, I felt a flicker of something stronger.
Revenge.
Power.
A queen awakening from the ashes.
As I hesitated at the mansion doors, my phone buzzed. A message from Ben: "This won’t last. You’ll always be the weak woman I threw away."
I smiled coldly for the first time.
Let the fire begin.
