Chapter one:Kindled flames.
After football practice, Kyle was chugging down bottled water when Sarah walked up to him.
She showed up in the company of her two girlfriends - her vanilla perfume announced her presence.
"We need to talk," Sarah said blocking his path and added"You embarrassed me in front of everyone, Kyle."
Kyle chose to avoid her icy gaze; he was already drained as it was.
"I broke up with you. we are done."
Without thinking, Sarah grabbed his hoodie sleeve - pink nail varnish, long. Fingernails dig in.
"You think you can just dump me and run to that freak?"
Kyle still did not talk.
"Everyone sees her alone there on the bleachers - more or less. You think she wants you? She's _" Sarah stops, mouth trembling.
She noticed someone was behind her staring coldly. Green eyes .
The scary beauty, Gwen stepped up, Sarah stumbled back, almost falling down but steadied her frame.
Her friends were already five feet back.
"You reek of fear and rubbish scent, " then Gwen looks at Kyle for a second and then at her "He's not yours, princess. Don't touch what's not yours again."
Sarah blinked away the tears that misted her eyes subtly and straightened her jacket before she turned to go without saying a word.
Kyle stood still and turned to leave when his eyes met Gwen's. Both chose silence.
later on Kyle came up to Gwen who was now seated on a bleacher with headphones on, she didn't seem to notice him.
"Hey, Gwen! What's up?"
She turned in his direction, unhooking the headphone and said softly"How are you, Kyle?"
He nodded and sat down on the bleachers with her. After a long silence, she now facing him "care to grab a snack with me, Mate?"
"Sure."
"Alright." She rose from the bleachers as Kyle followed alongside her.
Later as they were strolling back to class, Kyle stopped her midway"Do you know Sarah by any chance?"
Gwen nodded but said nothing else.
He then asked " How is it that you just transferred to this school and_?"
"Could you stop interrogating me?" she voiced out coldly, her eyes fiery.
Kyle then said as a parting shot "I have things to catch up with. see you later."
She knew he was just being polite or whatever. who cares?
Despite him not being a werewolf she felt strangely drawn to him.
There was someone watching her under the shadows...
Kyle was scrolling through his phone when a message popped up.
"Hi, Kyle. Please, am inviting you to my birthday party though it may be late," it read.
He paused for a minute before he typed a reply and dropped the phone.
When he arrived, Sarah was there to welcome him,"Nice of you to grace my party, Sweetie. Her voice serenading.
"I gotta go," he said as he froze, an inch away from her.
"Are you scared of me?"
He cast a long look as he chose his words carefully "Enjoy your party,
Princess."
He turned his back on her, while she stood seemingly surprised.
She then beamed a bright smile."I guess you do underestimate me, Kyle."
Then she voiced out to the retreating figure. "I guess you don't know, Kyle_"
He stopped dead in his tracks "What are you talking about?"
"See you later, Kyle," her voice calm.
He didn't reply - was there any need to?
She wasn't going to give up the chase that easily.
"Are you really going to turn your back on me on my special day?"
For some reasons he felt something for her.
So when Sarah touched his wrist and called him sweetly, "My precious," he let her in.
He didn't plan to kiss her.
But she allured him. First with a serenading dance and soft words.
"You deserve someone who doesn't turn into a monster."
And he succumbed.
One dance. kisses.
Kyle pulled back first. Chest heavy. Stomach sick.
Her lip balm flavor lingered in his mouth - her perfume sharp as her gaze was on his clothing.
Sarah saw it - the regret on his face.
And she smirked.
"Did you miss me, Kyle?" Her voice soft and sweet - deadly.
She stepped a bit closer before he could answer and hugged him.
Tight did she lock her arm round him like she owned him.
"Happy birthday to me, " she whispered in his ear. "Thank you for closure."
Then she pulled back, eyes misty like she had won a trophy.
"Go home to your wolf, Kyle. I won't bother you again. Promise."
How true?
Kyle didn't kiss her back. Didn't touch her. He just left.
He scrubbed his mouth with his sleeve there on the sidewalk - a few steps from Sarah's place.
Just then the torchlight of his phone came on - it was Gwen's on the phone.
Without hesitation, he turned back turning to the road that led to her home.
There was one thing or two which he didn't know - Sarah had filmed that romantic atmosphere,
There was another...
He didn't know that her body mist would still linger on him in this moment he was now with Gwen.
"You are burning up," he said as he steadied her.
She sat up on her bed, gripped his wrist, feverish. Gwen smelled his clothing, and her wolf snapped before he could react.
She ripped his shirt off him, her face pressed against his body and inhaled - Sarah's body mist . It wasn't soft nor sweet. This was war.
"Gwen _" he reached for her.
She pushed him back - weak.
"Don't touch me," she said in a voice low but dangerous.
"You smell like her."
His face turned pale.
"I know. I'm sorry. I didn't_"
"You let her embrace you," she retorted.
"I didn't hug back. Gwen, I was_
"You let her in and_" Tears burned through her words but she wouldn't cry - definitely not in front of him.
Then still angry she flung his shirt across the room and said sharply" Get her scent off you - all of it."
"Fine, please allow me to apologize..." he pleaded.
She cut him off. She was now barely an inch away - he could feel her feverish breath against his face.
Then wash it off, she whispered .
"...with me" she added.
"Are you sure? You are sick_" as he cupped her face.
Her eyes lit up"Do it - Am sick because of her.
Her friend, Mira who was in the kitchen coughed. " Am not seeing this. Shout or scream if you need me ..or don't.
He swallowed hard, nodded and held out his hand."Come to me then, my Luna."
It didn't start soft. Her mouth crashed into his jaw - the kiss was hot and intense.
She could still smell her body mist on his person so he kissed harder - like she could brush it off with her lips.
Gwen leant in closer"Let me"
Kyle's hand fisted in her wet hair"Luna_
She silenced him with another passionate kiss - slower and immense.
Her soft lips travelled down his collarbone - over the bare skin above the towel.
Not biting - well not just yet.
Every kiss was a promise.
His breathing soon steadied, same with her fever.
And in that moment the living room door clicked open.
"Gwen? Luna? It's Mira. I need to speak with you. It's important."
Gwen was really scared - her wet hair dripping water.
Mira handed Gwen her own smartphone
"It's for you"
Gwen's face suddenly turned pale and then...
