As soon as we settled into the throne room and took our places around the large table Torren and some of the guards had worked tirelessly to prepare, I took a moment to look at each of the assembled Alphas.
These were leaders from neighboring territories, wolves who had traveled considerable distances to be here. Their presence represented both hope and desperation.
I stood, commanding the attention of the room.
"I want to thank each of you for heeding my call," I began, my voice carrying across the space. "I know many of you could have celebrated the Harvest Moon festival in your own territories, with your own packs. The fact that you chose to come here, to this gathering, speaks to the seriousness of the situation we all face."
