4. I'm your Father

We watched each other for a longer while. Why was she so concerned that her drug was already getting out of my system. If she didn't mean to hurt me, she shouldn't be this shocked. "Concerned you didn't get to experiment on me?" - I asked narrowing my eyes at her. She looked at me and tried her best to compose herself. "No, I would never, but this was just remarkable. The dosages I gave you should last for at least two hours, yet after ten minutes you are able to move. What about your wolf, can you hear her?" I taxed her for a while deciding if I should believe her or not. What if it's true? What if I have the animal in me. After all, I just saw a girl my age changing into a gigantic dog. "I know it's there but I can't hear her yet." - I answered truthfully. "And you really felt no pain from the shot?" - she asked, amazed. "It was stinging but it wasn't painful." - I answered. "Remarkable." - she buried herself in thoughts for a moment then she spoke again - "Jane, I would really like to check your blood now. Maybe it would give me some answers. Lunch should be delivered to you any minute now and later my Boss will come to see you. Would you be ok staying alone for a while?" I nodded. Either way I wanted to stay alone and look for a way to escape this place. Connie turned around and left me. I started checking the glass wall, but it wasn't even a glass, it was some kind of thick plastic, I don't think I can break through it. Then this Moly girl came by with two sandwiches and a water bottle, but this time she was dressed. Thankfully. I ate the contents of the plate, but even this couldn't be used as a weapon as it was small and made from paper. Damn it! 'Find the way out.' - came the voice from my head. So she's finally awake. "Is that true? Are you really a wolf?" - I asked her out loud. 'Yes, and you don't have to use your words. I can hear your thoughts.' - the voice admitted. 'What the f**k?! You can hear this?' - I thought. 'Yes I can.' There were so many things I wanted to ask. Why were we like that? So violent, so dangerous, so feral? Why was she making me do all those awful things? 'We need to be free.' - the voice admitted. 'And that was the reason for all the bloodshed you did, wolf?' - I asked her a bit angry and scared, she wasn't the one I wanted to offend. 'Iri. My name is Iri. I told you this before.' 'Ok Iri, so why did you change my life into this?' - I asked her. If it was true and our lives were truly tied together, why did she do it to us. 'You were too weak, I needed to fight for both of us' 'But you've killed people. You put us into that hospital. Why did you do it?' 'Those were collateral damages. They interrupted our first change. If we grew up with our kind this would have never happened.' 'We have killed innocent people and you don't even feel sorry for it, why are you so evil?' - I asked in disbelief. If what Connie told me is true she is a part of me, so how come she isn't more like me? 'It's a cruel world. If you're weak you will die. You'll find out who you really are when those drugs leave your body. Remember this Girl!' - she snarled angrily and stopped talking with me. It was grave silence for many hours, when finally the Boss like Connie called him came over and took a seat in front of a glass wall. I recognized him from the day before and that strage room. So it wasn't a dream after all. He was tall and all of him was impressive with his broad shoulders and pose that can't go unnoticed. He had light brown hair with a bit of greyish here and there, but he wasn't old, probably in his late thirties. But what got my attention the most were his eyes. They were blue, but not any blue, no they were cold like ice. I knew that colour cause I had the same. "It's good to see you calm Jane." - he spoke. I chose not to answer, after all he was a man, and my every encounter with them didn't end well. "I'm sorry for the room, we tried to settle you in the pack house, but you were a bit too… shaken about. When you feel better you are welcome to join us there." - he continued. Uncomfortable silence that was between us didn't help me to open up to him. Who was he and why did he bring me here? " I should probably introduce myself. I'm Connor Balfour, Alpha of this pack. Connie did tell you what's a Pack right?" I shook my head, showing him that I have no idea what he's talking about. "Werewolves are just like their animal cousins. We live in groups for safety mostly. Our communities are called Packs, and Alpha like me is a leader of that group. All wolves here must follow my command as I am the strongest." - It was the time to break the silence from my side. " So what am I doing here? Why did you bring me here?" From his sudden change of expression I could tell he wasn't expecting me to ask this. But what I didn't expect were his next words. " You are my daughter. I've been looking for you for quite some time." My world started spinning around. My Father? That's impossible. From the faint memories I have of my mother I know she was always alone. So where was he all those years? "Oh yeah, so who was my mother?" - I asked. If he knew this maybe this was true also. As far all the things I get to know here were confirmed. "Sara Madsen. She was my High School girlfriend. But she left the city before informing me about being pregnant. I knew about you only from the letter she sent me once." "When did she send it? She's been dead for 14 years now." "You were about six months old. She asked for money. Then I never heard from her again." "So it took you over sixteen years to find me?" - I asked to confirm my suspicions. The moment he hung his head low I knew my answer. "It took me three months to find you." - he admitted sadly. I felt my anger growing. He knew about me all those years. Did he also know what was going on with me? "So why now? Why did you take all that effort to find me now?" "Jane, please…" "It's JD. At least that's what kids in Orphanage called me. And answer my question. Why now?" - I cut him off because I knew he would try to deceive me and I had enough of this in my life. He took a deep breath and looked me in the eyes. "Because I need you. You will be my successor." And who's the crazy one now, huh?
