I brushed my hair one more time before I pulled it up into a tight ponytail. I checked up on my clothes one more time before pulled some light make up and some lip gloss. Knock... knock.... There a series of knocking on my bedroom door. "Ma'am, the baby is awake." the nanny said from the outside of the door. I quickly finished up my work before replied to her. "Okay, Tessa. I will be there in second." I said but there was no reply. She probably went downstairs already, preparing breakfast for the little girl. I rushed up to the door. There was no one in the hallway either. I silently close my bedroom door and went into the opposite room. My daughter's room. "Good morning, Princess." I said as soon as I enter the room. I walked further into the room, towards the baby crib. The pink decorated crib that completing the theme of the whole room shook slightly showed that the owner had already started her day. A smile slowly crept onto my face. "Hey, little girl." she grinned widely as she saw me appeared into her crib. "Ooommmy!" she said happily holding her hands up for me to take her. I chuckled. "Already energize to start your day, huh?" I tickled her lightly before picked her up. She giggled. "Come, mommy take you to bath." I said taking her to the counter top and pulled off her unicorn onesie. She giggled even louder as my cold finger brushed her body. "Here your snack." I said to her on the high chair while holding a carrot stick. She grabbed a handful and immediately put it in her tiny mouth. I smiled. "Tessa, I am going out to the store and will run some errand into town." I said as I saw Tessa came into the kitchen carrying a laundry basket. She nodded slightly and disappeared into the laundry room. "Ma'am...." Tessa started. I sighed quickly and loudly. "Tessa, it is Stephanie." I said. She just smiles slightly to me. "I am sorry Stephanie, I just too used to call my employers respectfully." she said. "Tessa, I am not your employer, I am your friend. Just treat me as usual." I replied. She sighed while taking a seat on the chair beside the little angel. "Fine, Steph. Thanks a lot." I smile, my hand found hers. "It’s the least I can do Tess, look at that bruise, I won’t even do that you." I said brushing the cigarette bruise that appeared fading on her hand. She retreated immediately trying to hide the scar. Tessa Smith, was my old friend back in the England. She was one of my friends that worked too hard for her own self and desperate family. Once I moved to Cardiff, I never thought I would find her here. But the sight I got when I first saw her was very unpleasant. I cursed myself the moment I saw her on the street. Her eyes hold tears as soon as she retreated her hand. It was the only scar that I can see, the rest on her body, only god knows. "Tess, the police still working on your case, and Nick's cousin was taking care of your alimony. You will be safe Tess. I took small steps towards her and hugged her side. "Thanks, Steph. I will forever in debt with you." she said wiping her tears with her palm. "Just take care of Emily like your own. It’s all I can ask." I replied. I looked at my wristwatch when it showed me a half an hour before nine. "Okay, Tess, I am going. Take care you both." I quickly grabbed my cardigan and handbag before I head outside into the sunny weekend morning in Cardiff. The tempeture probably around 20 degrees so I can feel a little bit of warm humid air around me. I pulled out my car keys and drove off to the nearby town. I was pushing my cart of the week groceries when a man came across mine. I frowned. What the heck, this store was not that small; the aisle can almost fit three carts at the same time. I shook my head and continued looking down to the cheese chiller. Suddenly I heard a click sound behind me. I quickly turned around to see no one except an old man looking onto the variety of fruits rack. I turned back to the chiller and quickly grabbed some cheeses before pushed my cart to the check-out counter. As I am keeping my groceries into the car boot, I heard the click sound, again, this time it was a little bit distant. I looked to my side from the corner of my eyes, but there was still no one. I tilted my head a little bit to the other side and saw the old man quickly get into a car and drive away. Strange. It was quite a luxury car for an old man. I shook my head again and got into my car and drove off. Upon reaching my destination, I grabbed my phone on the hands free and dial a number. "Hello, Steph." I heard a man voice through the speaker. "Hey, Nick. Want to grab some early lunch?" I said. I heard Nick chuckled in the distant through the phone. "Fine, meet me at usual. I have a meeting after lunch," he replied. "Okay then, bye." I replied and let him cut off the line. I smile slightly. Suddenly, as I am looking through the rear mirror, I see a black car appeared right behind my car, following me close behind. I can’t see the driver, the windscreen was quite dark, I must say. I huffed a relieve sigh when the car turn around the corner just as I am nearing the cafe right before a lawsuit office. I park the car on the sidewalk and got into the cafe to find Nick had already waiting in a booth near a window. "So, I heard you had a meeting." I said as soon as my butt reached the chair. He raised both his eyebrows looking up from his phone. "Ehm, at my parents." he replied, looking back into the phone. "And?" "and?" he repeat my word. "and what else." I answer. A waiter came towards us taking our order and dismissed immediately. I heard Nick sighs. "and he still want me to manage his company saying they both are too old to manage a big company, and want to go to honeymoon or vacation or whatever, I don’t know....." he said, trailing at the end. I chuckled lightly. "Hey, you don’t have to. You have your cousin right to handle them for you." I said, casually sipping my milkshake. "Yeah, right. He has his own firm, remember." he said, as a matter of fact. I nodded furiously. "Oh, yeah, talking about your cousin. What’s his name, again?" I asked. "Don’t even start Steph. He is a well-known manwhore," he said quickly. I laughed hearing his statement. "No silly. It’s Tessa. How’s about her case, any progress?" I asked and slowly stopped laughing. "Not yet, and I have not meet him yet. He got something in New York, I am not sure when he will come back." he answered me, shrugging his shoulder. "Okay, fine. How’s the college?" I asked again. Suddenly he stopped messing with the straw in his drinks. "Here it comes." he said almost whispered. I looked up, confused. "Steph, I have something to tell you, but I hope you don’t freak out or something." I frowned. “Just give it a shot." I answered quickly ready to listen.
