Chapter 29

The following day was a public holiday and one of the rare days Luciana could actually rest. It had felt like she had been working on borrowed energy and this was the time she really needed to rest.

The message she had sent to Reed the previous day had been an act of sheer boldness because that was something she had never done before. It was the men who sought her out and not the other way around. But this time, Luciana was willing to make an exception because she knew what she was after- Reed.

There were times when she had questioned herself on whether what she was doing was the right path to finding her revenge but she knew that if she didn’t take this path, she might never find the revenge she badly wanted and that would no doubt be a shame to her and the whole Andreas family.

Just then, her phone gave a silent beep which indicated she had a message. Swiping her screen open, she discovered that it was in fact from Reed. He sure had a whole lot of boldness sending her a text back. This wasn’t soemthing Luciana was expecting but now that she had received it, she needed to act accordingly.

At that moment, she decided to give him a surprise by calling him. There, she would have successfully trapped him with no hope of him ignoring the call.

He answered on the second ring and as soon as he spoke, Luciana knew there was no going back.

‘’I see you got my message.’’ Luciana began.

‘’Of course, i did.’’ he said.

Luciana had no idea why he kept the conversation curt but whatever it was, she was determined to find out what it was.

‘’And so you really didn’t need to reply you know.’’ Luciana said.

Reed stayed quiet for a while and all that was between them was his labored breathing and her anxious one. Luciana couldn’t quite understand why she was feeling anxious when she had dealt with men of his caliber before. It just didn’t make sense to her.

‘’You want to know what i really think?’’ Reed asked.

‘’Yes Fontana, i do.’’ Luciana said.

‘’Then meet me at the Palace hotel in the next hour, then you’ll get your answer.’’

‘’I’ll be there.’’ Luciana said before cutting the call.

Just then, Alessandro walked in and with one look on his face, Luciana knew that he knew something was up.

‘’Is everything alright?’’ he asked.

‘’Yes, everything is just fine. I need to be somewhere now.’’ Luciana said, rising to her feet.

Alessandro stared at her silently as she moved in a haphazard motion in a bid to get dressed which was something he had never seen her do before. This just confirmed his thoughts that something was definitely up and he was determined to find out what that is.

‘’Luciana for the love of God, where are you going to in such a hurry?’’ Alessandro asked.

Luciana knew she had to think of something very fast to say because knowing who Alessandro was, he would get to the root of the matter quickly.

‘’My boyfriend just had an accident at the wharf so I want to see how he’s doing. He’s at the hospital.’’ Luciana lied.

Alessandro’s face was masked in surprise. Luciana didn’t know if she was surprised at the fact that she had a boyfriend or surprised at the fact that he was involved in an accident.

‘’Wow! I didn't expect that. I’m sorry to hear that. Is there anything i can do to help?’’ Alessandro asked.

‘’At this point, nothing yet but if I do need any assistance, I'll radio the mansion. Thank you Alessandro.’’ Luciana smiled.

Alessandro nodded before walking out of the room. Outside her door, he stood still for a moment as he tried to think about what Luciana had just told him. He didn’t want to believe her but still, the conviction in her voice was telling him otherwise.

‘’Does she really have a boyfriend I don't know about?’’ he murmured.

He decided to let the issue be and just trust her by her word. After all, She was a strong woman and could easily get herself out of any rough situation. He had seen the way her father had trained her and when she fought her enemies. Luciana was definitely a killing machine.

Twenty minutes later, Luciana was on the road towards the Palace hotel. As a precautionary measure, she made sure she wasn’t being tailed by enabling the alarm system in her car. This system gave her accurate readings on when a car followed her consistently.

Traffic that morning was a bit light as most people were at home due to the public holiday. Luciana loved it this way because it would enable her to get to her destination on time.

She got to the hotel with ten minutes to spare. Luciana climbed out of her lamborghini as she made her way towards the reception area. Already, she had sighted Reed’s SUV parked at a corner in the parking lot.

‘’Hi, good morning ma’am. Would you like to book a room?’’ the young receptionist smiled.

She was barely out of her teenage years and in that moment, Luciana remembered when she was this age. That felt like ages ago but in reality, it was only a few years ago.

‘’No, thank you. There’s a reservation here already in the name of Reed Fontana.’’ Luciana smiled kindly.

‘’Oh yes! The good looking man.’’ the girl said with a breezy smile.

Luciana rolled her eyes because she knew Reed would have charmed the girl with many of his sweet talks. That was what he was known for.

‘’Presidential suite ma’am, last floor. That will be room 567.’’ the girl smiled, handing her a key card.

‘’Thank you. What’s your name?’’ Luciana asked, placing the card in her purse.

‘’Juliet.’’ the girl smiled.

‘’Well Juliet, it's nice to meet you. I’m Luciana.’’

On second thought, Luciana decided not to mention her last name. She didn’t want to put unnecessary fear in the young girl’s eyes. Luciana had seen first hand what her last name did at the mention of it.

‘’Here’s my card. If you need anything and I mean anything at all, please do not hesitate to call the number at the back, I'm accessible at any time of the day’’ Luciana said.

Juliet could hardly believe her eyes. This drop down gorgeous woman just sent an invitation to her for any help she might need. This was surely her lucky day.

‘’Oh my gosh! Thank you so much ma'am. I really appreciate this.’’ Juliet said.

‘’It's okay honey. You’re really kind to me.’’ Luciana smiled.

Juliet watched her get into the elevator and she smiled, knowing that she had just made a friend.

Back in the elevator, Luciana slowed her breathing down as she watched the numbers in the elevator go up gradually. She was going to meet Reed alone for the first time and she didn’t know what to think about it.

‘’If he tries anything funny, i’ll blow his brains off.’’ Luciana vowed.

She wasn’t going to take s**t from anyone at all, least of all, him. The elevator pinged which indicated that they had gotten to the last floor. Luciana walked out as she made her way towards the room. With the key card in her hand, she opened the door.

To say the room was beautiful would be an understatement, it was downright amazing. Luciana wasn’t surprised though because the Presidential hotel was the best in the whole country and she remembered she had some shares here and so did Reed.

‘’Welcome.’’ Reed said.

He was standing behind Luciana and she had failed to notice that. He shut the door behind her with the keys. It just seemed like every time she saw him, he got more handsome.

‘’I’m here now so let’s talk.’’ Luciana said, placing her bag on the table.

Reed walked towards her with a glint in his eyes. He was dressed in gray joggers over a black shirt that hugged his muscles while she was dressed in a deep blue mini gown.

‘’I’m not going to lie anymore Luciana, i want you.’’ Reed said.

If Luciana was surprised about this declaration, she hid it well. She didn’t know if this was his many tricks but with the honest look in his eyes, she knew he couldn’t be telling a lie.

‘’What do you mean Fontana?’’ Luciana asked.

‘’Oh please, don’t call me that again. It makes me sick. Reed is fine.’’ he sighed.

‘’Okay.’’ she simply said.

‘’In essence, what I am trying to say is that I want Luciana, I don't want to play this game with you because I know I have already lost. The truth is… I love you.’’ he sighed.

Luciana smiled, drawing him closer to herself. This was what she had suspected and now that it was finally out, she knew she couldn’t hide her feelings from him any longer.

‘’I feel the same way too Reed.’’ Luciana sighed.

Reed led her towards the bed, wrapping his hands around her. He could hardly believe what she had said but he was quite glad she felt the same way.

‘’I want you too but you know we can’t. The stakes are high and if our people get to find out about this, we’ll be both dead and it would no doubt cause a war.’’ Luciana said.

‘’I understand what you mean Luciana but in order for us to keep this a secret, we have to be very careful. I really can’t let you go Luciana.’’ Reed sighed.

‘’Me too.’’ Luciana said, cupping his cheek.

Reed couldn’t help but kiss her at that moment. He poured everything into the kiss, loving the way she wrapped her body around his. This was all he wanted ever since he set eyes on her at the ball.

‘’Wow! I didn’t envision you to be a great kisser.’’ Luciana laughed.

‘’Wait till you see what i can do.’’ Reed smirked.

Luciana ran her hands over his jaw and down to his chest area. The muscles were strong and sturdy which she liked.

‘’Things like what Reed.’’ Luciana smiled, kissing his chest.

‘’Things with my d**k and my hands.’’ he laughed.

‘’I love you.’’ Luciana said.

‘’I love you too Luciana and now, let’s make sure no one ever finds out about this.’’ Reed said.
