The next day came bright and early and Luciana was in high spirits that the operation they were about to carry out would go well. It had to because she had put all her mind and hopes on it. This was going to be the group’s first major operation and she knew she couldn’t afford to slack. There were so many people within her group that was counting on her for that victory not matter how small it might be.
Luciana climbed out of bed, heading towards the bathroom to ease herself. She was pressed and the earlier she did that, the better for her. When she waa done, she took a quick shower before strapping herself in her favorite action suit. It was a skin tight trouser over a black shirt. Her favorite thigh high boot made her look all the more menacing and people knew better than to talk to her anyhow they liked.
Just then, there was a knock on her door. Luciana grabbed her gun from where she placed it on the table. She had come to learn that things could happen even at the last minute and at that moment, she didn’t want to take the risk.
Luciana pulled the safety off, walking stealthily towards the door. Asides from being very careful, Lucina had a very sharp ear that could hear things said from even a little distance. She knew that trait was as a result of her years of listening in to what her parents said in secret. She had always been an inquisitive child right from a very young age.
‘’Diabla.’’ Alessandro called.
Luciana heaved a sigh of relief, thumbing off the safety of her gun. Her heart rate went back to normal as she placed the gun in her back pocket. Even though she was ready to fight, not this morning. She didn’t want to be disoriented as early as this. That was the last thing she wanted.
She opened the door to see Alessandro still in his sleeping clothes. Usually, in matters like this, he didn’t involve himself in it but Luciana thought since it was the Fontana’s, he would make an exception but apparently not.
‘’You’re ready?’’ he asked.
‘’Yes.’’ Luciana said, opening the door wider for him to walk in.
‘’Have you heard anything from Mateo yet?’’ Alessandro asked.
‘’Not yet.’’ Luciana said.
She was expecting him to call her soon but apparently, he hadn’t but she wasn’t worried because she knew things like this usually took time.
‘’Then you should be getting a call fro-’’
His words were cut short by the loud ringing of her phone. Luciana chuckled, smiling at the turn of events.
‘’Yes.’’ Luciana said as soon as she picked up the call.
‘’The operation is about to begin. The mercenaries just left the building and they are on their way towards the point of action.’’ Mateo said.
Luciana smiled at his thoughtfulness. He had used code words to give her the information she needed. He had that in case the line was being tapped. When it came to the Fontana’s, Luciana couldn’t put it past them not to try anything funny.
‘’Good. I shall meet you there in a few…’’ Luciana said.
Mateo caught on and immediately cut the call. The less time they spent talking, the lower the chances of the line being tapped.
‘’They are on the move.’’ Luciana said.
She grabbed her mask, slotting it on her face and soon, she became unrecognizable. Alessandro knew that she did that for fear of any of them seeing her. Not that she was scared of being seen, far from it, this yet wasn’t their major operation. They would begin full operation on wednesday night at the ball.
This was simply a thing they had to do to rattle them up so the Fontana’s would know that there were people waiting for them. It was a brilliant plan and Luciana knew that the plan would go flawless because it had to.
‘’Smart.’’ Alessandro smiled.
‘’I always am.’’ Luciana chuckled.
‘’I’ll go inform your father about this.’’ Alessandro said.
At the mention of her father, Luciana stopped in her tracks. In the midst of trying to prepare for this, she had completely forgotten about her father.
‘’Thank you.’’ she said before walking out of her room.
Luciana stalked down the hallway with one thing in her mind and that was to cause total destruction to Fontana's plans. She didn’t care who she hurt as long as she achieved her goal.
When she got outside, three unmarked cars were patiently waiting with the engines running. Alessandro had given the order since yesterday night to the men to prepare the cars and Luciana was quite glad that they had followed instructions.
‘’Let’s move.’’ she ordered.
She climbed into one of the cars as her men took the other cars, following closely behind. The driver who manned the wheels of the car she was in was an expert driver and it showed in how he maneuvered between traffic and other vehicles. He effortlessly eased his way into other cars without any hassle at all.
This was what Luciana wanted. The earlier they got to the point of action, the better for them. Luciana radioed the other men coming close behind them to give a little distance. Besides being very smart, the Fontana’s were no fools. They could easily pick up on something if the vehicles were to close together.
In order to limit the chances of them being seen, Luciana had given strict instructions to Alessandro not to make the cars the same. The one she was riding in was an SUV, the second car was a Honda while the third was a benz. They all were very different and it would only take the smartest of them all to know that they had the same agenda- destruction.
‘’I want to take a one way Diabla, there’s traffic up ahead.’’ the driver of the car said.
‘’Do what you have to do as long as you get us to the point on time.’’ Luciana said.
Her phone rang again and this time, she had no doubt that it was Mateo. She had a feeling that he was calling to give her more instructions.
‘’Diabla.’’ he said.
‘’Anything?’’ Luciana asked.
‘’I have placed a tracker on one of the vehicles and you should get the coordinates right about now,’’ he said.
Just like he said, there was a small beep on her phone which gave way to a red dot. That dot was one of the vehicles the Fontana’s were traveling in and from all indications, Luciana knew that they had almost gotten to their destination because the dot had almost gotten to the Federal bank.
‘’Step on it.’’ Luciana ordered.
‘’Yes Diabla.’’ the driver said.
Now, the car was practically flying in the air. Luciana knew they wouldn’t crash because the man who was driving the car was an expert driver. It also wasn’t a surprise that they weren’t stopped on the road for dangerous driving. Even if they were stopped, the police knew better than to keep them waiting. No one wanted to mess with Andreas.
With her mask securely in place and everything going as planned, Luciana was very certain that victory would be theirs. The driver pulled up very close to the place and what Luciana didn’t expect was for the place to be quiet.
‘’What’s going on?’’ she mumbled.
‘’It appears the enemy hasn’t been here yet.’’ the driver said.
‘’Yes.’’ Luciana said.
Her eyes scanned the environment, looking for the slightest thing that could tell her what the Fontana’s were really after. Luciana had expected them to be here already but she was quite surprised that they weren’t here yet.
‘’Mateo.’’ Luciana said as soon as he picked up the call.
She needed an explanation for all of this. If Mateo was playing pranks with her, she would make sure that she dealt with him severely because nobody and absolutely nobody messes with her and gets away with it.
‘’What is the meaning of this?’’ Luciana barked.
‘’I really don’t know what’s going on Diabla, i have asked for information concerning this and i await that.’’ Mateo said.
‘’You better get me the information if you love your life.’’ Luciana said.
She cut the call angrily, looking outside her car window. The driver radioed this new information to the other cars that were parked just some few meters behind them. The tension within the car was palpable and it could actually be cut with a butter knife.
‘’I hope they show themselves soon.’’ the driver said.
Luciana looked back at him before her eyes glanced at the time on the car’s dashboard. It was heading to eight. Luciana had earmarked that before seven thirty that morning, they would have been done with everything but apparently, the target wasn’t there yet.
‘’Let’s wait and see.’’ Luciana said.
Her eyes landed on the necklace around his neck. It was a locket of some sort and upon closer inspection, Luciana discovered that the picture on it was of a little girl. She glanced at the man again, looking back at the locket and Luciana discovere that this was in fact the man’s daughter.
‘’What’s your name?’’ she asked.
If the man was surprised about this question, he hid it well. He was a bit surprised that she had asked him this but when it came to the Andreas, there was really nothing surprising about them.
‘’Kyle.’’ he said.
‘’Is that your daughter?’’ Luciana said, nudging her head towards the picture.
‘’Yes. She’s only three.’’ Kyle said with a proud smile on his face.
In that moment, Luciana was touched by this. She had always loved a family and deep down, she hoped that she could begin here's one day.
‘’Why are you fighting? I mean, why are you sticking with us when you could easily leave and be with your wife and child?’’ Luciana asked.
She really wanted to know why Kyle was here when he had a beautiful daughter waiting for him at home.
‘’Because-’’
His words were cut short by the unmistakable sound of gunfire. It shook the very ground they were on as the bullets reigned down on them. Kyle and Luciana took cover, using the hands as a cover.
Now, Luciana knew that the Fontana’s were here and it was time to party. The only difference between this party and other parties was that this time around, there would be casualties.
