I blink my eyes open to the morning sun, and when I realize that I’m lying alone in the dirt, my heart lurches a little. Wait… why do I care if Ladon is here? I’m supposed to keep him at bay. I’m supposed to avoid catching feelings for him. I sit up and stretch my arms, basking in the warm glow of the sun for a moment before climbing to my feet. I look behind me and see that the pile of clothing is gone from where Ladon left it last night. Damn. I guess I won’t get to ogle his naked body today… if he comes back. Maybe my little emotional outburst scared him away. That wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing, though. My gaze trails up to the dark, gaping mouth of the cave, and curiosity begins to overwhelm me.
