I knew I had been out of the dating game too long when I didn't pick up on the optics of me sneaking out of Teddy's suite, wearing pajamas. True, the pants and nightshirt were hardly sexy, the long cardigan making me look more frumpy than seductive, but it'd only take one whisper to the media waiting outside the palace gates and the damage would be done.
William was good, but he was no Josef. We got back to my suite with only one or two servants seeing us, both saying nothing under the aide's stern gaze.
I couldn't help smiling, thinking of it as the craziest walk of shame ever.
"I'm sorry," he whispered as I slipped through the double doors. "They'll stay quiet—or I'll get them fired."
