Chapter 1
*Beeeeepp Beeepp Beeep*
A black Range Rover is beeping their horn as the light turns green, then swerves around the car, flipping you off and shouting something as they drive pass.
Unable to see from the floods of tears streaming down her face, Evie sobs uncontrollably. Not realising that the lights had turned again back to red.
After the light turns green, Evie drives slowly to a car park and stops the engine.
Continuing to let the tears fall, wincing at the memory replaying in her head with every blink.

Evie had stopped off at the store on the way home from work, buying the ingredients for David’s favourite meal to celebrate their 2nd wedding anniversary, beef wellington.
As she arrived home, she entered and placed the food on the kitchen island.
“David? Are you here” Evie called. With no response she looks in each room before heading up stairs. She owns a modest 3 bedroom house decorated in shades of light blue, white and lavender, a choice made by her husband.
“David? I’ve got your favourite tonight with a little extra dessert to celebrate!” Evie shouts cheekily.
Getting closer to her bedroom, Evie hears light tumbling and moans. Her heart quickens and dread fills her body and mind before she throws the door open.
In shock, Evie stands with her jaw open wide as she watches some blonde haired lady straddling and bouncing up and down on her husband, his hands on her hips guiding her back and forth.
Disgust radiates from Evie, as David looks around the blonde woman straight to the doorway where Evie is stood “oh s**t!” David exclaims “it’s not what you think baby!” And throws the blonde off him.
Running towards Evie completely naked, as she runs down stairs. “Baby please just let me explain!” David begs, continuing to follow Evie to the door. Picking up her bag and keys she turns to look at her pathetic excuse for a husband, the anger and betrayal portrayed clearly on her face “it’s not what it looks like, really? Are you really going to throw that bullshit excuse at me? Because it looks like you are f*****g someone in MY bed!” Evie hisses “do I look like a moron?” She scoffs “well, clearly I do! Because you seem to think that f*****g some other slut.. especially on our anniversary is acceptable!” Evie screams.
David looks away in shame, ‘s**t’ he mouths trying to hide his forgotten guilt before Evie saw, which he didn’t succeed in. “Oh are you f*****g joking? You forgot?” She laughs with anger.
Pulling out her phone, shaking with anger and dialling her mums number. David sees who she is calling “baby please put the phone down! Please just let me explain! Put the phone down!” David begs “Evie, put the phone down now!” He orders.
Evie pulls the phone away from her ear and hears it. Ringing echoes through the house, as it gets louder, she looks up and sees the blonde woman wrapped in a bed sheet holding her phone.
Dropping her phone in sudden heartbreak, Evie realises it’s her mum that is the blonde slut.
“Darling, I’m so sorry you had to see that. But it’s not what you think.” Darla professes “you know you can’t help who you love!”
Evie, raging and her blood boiling, she picks up her phone and launches it towards her mum, who ducks letting Evie’s phone smash into the wall. Shaking her head at David, Evie sternly said “get your s**t and leave by the time I get back otherwise I will kill you!” As Evie places her hand on the doorknob, David pleads with her “Evie please, let me explain!” She shoots him a look that makes him crumble inside, then darts out the house and into her car, speeding off out the drive and down the road.
Evie and Darla never had a close bond, due to the fact that Darla blamed Evie for her dad leaving them when she was 5 years old and never staying in touch. Through her teen years, Darla had always flirted with Evie’s boyfriends and embarrassed her in front of her friends, putting more strain on their relationship. It was only when she married David did it start to improve.
Evie never saw David as the type of man to cheat on her with anyone let alone her own mum. He was always kind and caring, putting Evie’s thoughts and needs before his own. He even quit his own job as a sales director, to help Evie get her own interior design company off the ground, albeit Evie found that very strange especially as he had a very good income and high status. . . Perfect man, hey?
“Stupid, stupid girl!!” Evie shouts in sobs in her car, hitting the steering wheel. Thinking to herself whilst crying her heart out, it all made sense now, her mother was always asking after David. She thought she was just generally interested in their relationship and was happy for her. Seeing things in a different perspective now and putting two and two together, it made much life’s sense. David recently had a few ‘meetings’ with potential clients for Evie’s business but never seemed to come through. Scoffing in disgust at the thought of her husband and mother meeting up in some hotel room to have s*x behind her back, she opened the car door and vomited.
After what seemed hours, Evie pulled up in her driveway. She looked at her house that no longer felt like her home, but a building of betrayal, she saw the lights were off. After deciding it was empty, she went in and started packing her clothes and essentials. She grabbed her passport and some other important documents, hauled her suitcase to the car and left.
