Episode One: Beneath The Wolf Moon
The village of Duskwood lived in uneasy rhythm with the forest. By day, sunlight filtered through towering pines, and the world seemed ordinary. Children fetched water from the stream, merchants bartered in the square, and the blacksmith’s hammer rang out steady and reassuring. But when night came and the full moon rose, shadows crept in like unwanted guests, and whispers of old legends stirred the air. Elena Marlowe stood on the edge of the forest, her shawl clutched tightly around her shoulders as the cold mist coiled up from the earth. She wasn’t supposed to be there. Not with the moon climbing higher, not with the wolves already howling deep within the woods. Yet something pulled her forward, an instinct, a dread, perhaps even a dare from her own restless heart. She had grown up on her grandmother’s tales, stories of the Beast of Duskwood. A creature neither man nor wolf, cursed to walk between worlds, its presence marked by clawed trees and sudden silence. As a child, she had laughed nervously at the fireside when those tales were told. But now, standing in the eerie hush, she wasn’t laughing. The forest watched her, and she felt it. A branch snapped somewhere in the dark. Elena’s breath caught, and she turned sharply. Nothing moved—only the swaying shadows of trees under the silver glow. She should have fled back to the safety of the lantern-lit cottages, yet her feet remained rooted. Then, from the mist, a figure emerged. Not a wolf. Not fully human. Something caught between both. Its eyes burned gold, locked on her with unsettling hunger. Her heart thundered in her chest, and her instinct screamed to run. Yet curiosity, reckless and dangerous, pinned her where she stood. “Why are you here?” The voice was raw, almost human but threaded with a growl. Elena couldn’t answer. Her lips parted, but no words came. The figure stepped closer, the moonlight exposing the lines of a man’s face scarred with something primal, something ancient. He towered above her, shoulders broad, muscles taut as if in constant battle with himself. His hands—long-fingered, claw-tipped—trembled as if torn between reaching for her and tearing her apart. Her grandmother’s words echoed in her mind: The beast is not merely a curse. It is a hunger that learns to speak. And now, standing in the shadow of the wolf moon, Elena realized the legend wasn’t a story at all. It had found her.
