Standing up to the king was a gracious offense and the punishment could be disastrous. “You are not going to make decisions for me, Father. All my life, you have made decisions for me. You are talking to your Father, the king” The Queen pleaded as she moved closer to me. “How dare you raise your voice at me?” Father roared, he was getting even more upset but I did not care. If that was what it would take for me to be happy then it was worth it. “I am not sorry Father. If that is the price I have to pay, then so be it. What greater punishment would surpass death? I would rather die than marry someone I don’t love! I will not do your wish, Father! I stand today to disobey you, Father!” “How dare you!” “Darrell!” The Queen yelled in fear as Father pulled out his sword and aimed at me. I protected my face with my hands immediately. Was Father really going to kill me?
