Travis
Days went by now. Things has gone so much better for us. We were trying to move on and make things work. And it has. Yes we still fight. But we try not to end things so bad. We use the bond to ease each other. To lean on. So far, no matter what. It felt like we are heading in a good direction. And that’s all we needed to hold on to.
“We will fight nonstop. As long as she’s still here. That’s what matters.” I agree with him. It was the golden truth. I will not lose her again.
I will not!!
Tonight was the the dance and I can tell Elizabeth was trying so hard to be happy. To just plant a fake smile on the ups of the event. I kept asking if she wanted to skip it, but she insisted on facing her coven once more. To face her parents.
On the other side, she was stunning in her dress. I was constantly struggling to not be arouse from her beauty. But goddamn, I just had to buy her a dress that arouse my every inch. She was such a tease too, if I wasn’t taking things slow with her. I would’ve already had her bent over in the back of my car while driving to the coven.
But I can tell she wasn’t ready for me.
“It’s fine. We can wait.” Malcolm said.
“I know that. Why rush when we have a lifetime if not more.”
We glance over to her every second. Keeping a hand on her thigh throughout the whole night. Her body warms up when ever I squeeze them. And I see she fights the urge to look at me. I smile dumbly at myself.
For most of the drive. Elizabeth will sing her cute heart out. Dancing and swinging her arms as if she was preforming a concert. Malcolm and I will watch in awe at our mate. Our heart sprang inside at the sight of her.
“You sing so beautiful. I can’t wait to hear you sing to the pups.” I say.
She turns down the radio. Giving us a dazzle look. “What did you say?”
We gave her a smirk. “We yarn for the day you sing sweet words for the pups one day.”
Her brows lowered. “What do you mean? Like the daycare pups?”
I chuckle a little. “No baby. Our pups.” Laying a hand on her flat stomach.
“Travis..mh.” She stutter.
“I can listen to you sing your heart out for hours. And watching you sing a song to put the pups to sleep. It’s a dream.” The image flashes in my head. It was magical. Her with a little one in her arms. Rocking the sleepy pup to sleep while her voice softly echos off the walls.
She moves our hand off her stomach. “Pups?” She whispers.
“Yes baby. Lots of them.”
“Can’t we have this talk another time. I don’t want to think about..” I turn to see her face go long. And my dumb ass has just started up the conversation. I already knew, but I couldn’t help how my mind trail off to our future.
“Ohh baby. I’m sorry. Yes.” I went to grab her hand but she pulled away.
“Nice job jackass.”
“Ohh you were thinking the same thing.”
“Of course. She’s our mate. It’s different thinking it than saying it out loud.” I just snarl at Malcolm.
She wraps her arms around herself. And we feel a small pin. “I’m sorry boys. I can’t promise that one day you can call yourself a dad.”
“I’m sorry for bringing it up. The time is not now.” Retreating back our hopes.
“Okay.” She said in a very soft whisper.
She pulls up the volume to drown out her thoughts. It took awhile before the mood started to draft back. And again she softly sang. This time I kept my mouth shout. Only enjoying her voice itself.
Getting closer we sense her anxious. “I can keep driving if you don’t want to do this. No one says you have to.”
She grips my hand. Sending sparks up my arm. “I know I don’t have to. It’s just my last goodbye really.”
“You know you surprise us everyday. Not just anyone will come back here after what happen.”
She lets a shy smile out. Leaning over to kiss our cheek. “I know everything will be fine if you stay by my side.”
“Of course baby.”
Pulling into a dirt road that lead us through the coven’s entrance. She takes a deep breath. And I remind her of how amazing she is. How powerful she has become. And how she did it all on her own. So with the hell with these people.
She interlock our hands as she guide us to the ball where our entrance is announce. Gliding down. I look ahead at the crowd of people. Her shoulders held back and her head rose above. Not a nerve but one was out of tick. I span her around as we dance alone on the ball floor. And once again we were in awe with our mate. We took the floor as if we were the only ones here.
My mind trail off to another hope of dream for us. We thought of the one day of us in a nice tux while she wear a Goddess wedding dress that fits her ever so well. For one day she will be call my wife. And we dance in the eyes of Moon Goddess, every love one of ours, and along with our pack people. That day played in my head as if we are there right now.
“One day it will come. One day.” Malcolm said.
This time I kept this thought to myself. Not to ruin her mood again.
Everyone was very nice. I don’t know what I expected everyone to be the opposite. And then there was her mother. She held a dark cloud over her like she runs the damn place. Even Malcolm sense it. Growling at the moment she walked up to us. I didn’t like the way she talked to Elizabeth. We wanted to stand our ground. But knew we must behave. At least just this once.
“Our mate stood up for herself though.” Malcolm was right, even with her past. She never let her mother belittle her. Made us hard to see her like that. “Rock hard!” Malcolm said.
While I was dancing with her aunt Mable. I took a chance to ask about the nightmares. Maybe this was normal and I’m over reacting. I figure her aunt would know more and give me some insights. I try asking Meredith but she had no answers. She said it was probably stress, that Elizabeth wouldn’t take stress to well.
“It didn’t feel like that.” We remember that first time. It was something else. We even woke up out of breath. And any comfort I can get will help her ease back down. Just not fully due to her trauma. I still don’t know how she could just fall right back to sleep after that, I couldn’t sleep knowing she might wake up in a panic again. I had to watch her closely. Praying she gets only sweet dreams.
“Aunt Mable, may I ask you a question?” I asked a bit concern.
“Ohh just call me Mable young man.” I nod.
“Is there any reason for a witch to be having the same nightmare since childhood?” She tilt her head at me. Curious. “I mean, can it mean something more? Like should I be worry when she wakes up terrified? Beams of sweat and dissociated?” My hands got sweaty, scared she would tell me to worry more than I’m already am.
“Is this Elizabeth?” I nod and she smiles at me. “I’m sure it’s nothing to worry about. With her 18th birthday coming up, finding her mate, coming back here, and many more. It had to be a lot on her. Just give her time and they will go away.” The music suddenly stopped.
“What if they don’t?” She sigh and we walk off the floor.
“It can be just stress, she still in school and for what I remember. Magic had always taken a lot out of her. Just remind her to take some breaks. You and your wolf can ease her more than anything. And after you two mark. Your source of energy can help her.” Again, no answers.
“Thank you Mable. It was lovely to dance with you.”
She caresses my face. “You can call me if you have any questions. With your mate bond. After you two have mark, you will know better if you should worry.” She had a point. We’ll be more connect after our mark.
Walking off to the side. I make my way around. Aspecting the ball room. It was large and nicely decor. Elizabeth has told me her sister design the platform all herself. She did a swell job.
Grabbing a glass of whiskey. A firm hand sat on my shoulder. “Hello Travis. I’m Caden. Elizabeth’s father.” We met prior but earlier he kinda hide behind his mate.
“Swell to meet you sir.” I nod.
He turns his head to search. I don’t know of what. “May I ask how she’s doing? I’m sure she doesn’t speak of us. It’s understanding if you knew why.”
I see a hint of guilt in his eyes. “She is doing very well. She’s happy. We’re happy.”
He smiles. “I know I don’t have a part in her life. Or a say. I don’t expect to hear from her after this. But can you promise me something?” He asked with a low eye at me.
Again he looked around. Glancing at one direction now. We match his. Seeing him watch his daughter dance on the floor. I hide back a growl in front of him as I watch another male touch our mate. Not just any male. A witch. And not just any witch. A old pal name Perry. Short story. We don’t like him.
Turning his head back at us. His smile fades. “Can you protect her. With all cause. Protect my wise little witch. Keep her away from here if you need to.” He says this as if it wasn’t a question but as a plead even.
I narrow my eyes at him. Was there something he was aware of that we should be concern about. Was it her mother? Or was it the coven? Maybe her Ancestors? f**k it can be them all.
“All I ask of you Travis. As her mate. Love her in all varies of ways. Be there when it matters the most. Don’t let her tremble. Please. Be there for her. I wish I was when it mattered. But I had missed it up. Many times. So please. Be there for Elizabeth.” He tells me with such dewy eyes. I read him well. And from what I know of, he was coming from a good heart. A broken father’s heart. But a good one.
“Til the day I die sir. She is our mate. She comes first of all counts.” He grins widely and thanks us.
Feeling the need to set himself at ease. Yet we spoke only the truth. “Sir if I may say.” He again watches over his daughter. And you see a hurt taking over. “She never blame you.” He turns quick.
Shock expression. “Excuse me?”
I clear my throat. “She told me. She told me everything that happen here.” He ohhs in a soft voice. “But she never blamed you. And after she read your second letter. She still loves you. You are still a father in her eyes.”
“Second letter? What second letter?”
“The one you wrote to her parents. She read it recently.”
His eyes widen. Remembering what he had written all those years ago. “I did what a good father would do.” Looking down at his hands. “It was my one and last good deed as her father.”
I place a hand on his shoulder. “You did well. If it wasn’t for your act. I would of never been bless. So thank you sir. From us both. Or us three.” I chuckle.
He let a small smile out. As if to recollect it all. Nodding at us once more before he headed back to his mate. I can see them at a distance. His head lower to her. And her lips move fast. Her eyes dip and you see she angry. She rushes off. The scene was unsettling. Now I am more aware why he says to keep Elizabeth away.
I spend a few more moments here chatting from her family. But not long as I sense her anger from the dance floor. I retreat our mate from Perry’s trap. We softly dance as my hands are the last to swing her around this day.
Soon we left and return home. I had to push everything out my head. With her nightmares, her mother, Syline, and now Perry. I just wanted to enjoy my time with Elizabeth. End the night happy. So ahead of time I call Gamma to set up my study for a late night date.
“This way.” I said as I nudge her toward the other direction.
“Babe, I want to change and get in bed.” She was exhausted.
I smirked at our angle like Goddess as follows me to my surprise. Gamma Sarah greeted us out front my study. We nod. And said our goodnights. I open the door for her. Seeing the room in a perfect mood for us.
“Travis? You need to stop doing things like this. I’m already yours.” I lock the door to a more private night.
“Don’t rush her!” Malcolm roars.
“That’s not why I lock the door!” I will never rush her. I swear Malcolm doubts my ever move with her.
“I will always do things like this for you. So get use to it.” We got comfortable without our coats and shoes. I know her feet must be hurting so I removed them for her.
“Dance with me, my witch.” Grabbing her soft hands and pulling her close. We’re alone and it it feels great.
“Thank you for coming with me. You didn’t have to.”
I lift her chin. Gazing in here forest eyes. “It was my honor.”
“Kiss me.” She demanded.
I smirk at our mate and obey. Feeling uncontrollable sparks lighting inside. She pulls away for air and my hands move more down her body. She gasp as I kiss her neck, moaning my name. You can scent our arousal and my canines poke through. Wanting to mark our mate where we kiss.
“Babe, stop.”
I look up to meet her face. Had I done something wrong? “Are you okay? Was I too rough?” Damn it, I need to control myself more.
“You’re just a dog, and your balls are blue as f**k!” I growl at Malcolm.
“No, no, no.” She seems unease though.
“I didn’t do this to force you. I would never.” Before I can drown in self petty, she kisses us in full content.
“I’m sorry. I just think it’s too soon.”
I know it was, she was the type of girl who needed to know you won’t just leave her after one night. But this isn’t like that. We won’t stop after the first, not until we’re died.
I went to express my full nature of tonight. Doing so I caress her arms. Smoothing her nerves. And mine. She sighs loudly as feels a dread. And expose it to me. I cut her off, not wanting to hear the awful words she was about to express, AGAIN.
“Shh no, no, no. Don’t ever say that. You’re ours and we’re yours. That’s it!” I wish she would believe in us more.
“Why?” I frown a little but then retreat a smile as I tuck her hair behind her cute ear.
“Because the moment I meet you, you became everything to me. I am nothing if I don’t have you.” I wipe away a tear she sherd. Only wanting her to feel love. “Lets undress and enjoy a drink. And then we can snuggle up in bed. I just ask you to stay in my arms tonight. I can't sleep if you don't."
Her bright smile tells me she agrees. And we unwind and after a drink or two, Liv fell peacefully asleep in our arms. The one place I can promise to always keep her safe.
