Chapter 29 – Visit to the Second Cooper Villa

2503 Words
Hazel Maria Cooper It's the fourth day in London. Dani had finished with his business issues and we are back to our honeymoon. But before stepping on to honeymoon mood Dani wants to vent his Uncle Henry's displeasure. Uncle Henry is angry at Dani because he only visited Uncle Wilson and not his family. In order to ease his Uncle’s anger he decided to pay a surprise visit to him. So, we got up early in the morning and got ready for the visit. Uncle Henry lives in the exactly opposite direction of Uncle Wilson. Cooper villa of Uncle Wilson is in the north London while Uncle Henry's Cooper villa is in South London. It took us around an hour drive to reach the Cooper villa. The villa is situated in the outskirts of the city. Even though the villa is not far away from the town, it is in a secluded area. Only the vehicles to the Cooper villa go through the road. This information is given by Dani when we are still in the car. Hearing his description I have imagined leveller proudly standing behind a beautiful garden. I could also imagine the beautiful scene presented by the nature herself around the villa. Finally when Dani pulled up in front of the villa, my breath got caught in my throat because the view in front of me is far beyond what I imagined. In front of me there stood a beautiful art carved out of stone. It was a marvellous 2 storied building which in itself speaks about the talent of the genius behind its creation. The villa symbolises of 18th century architecture. Whoever designed it is really a genius. We got out of the car and pressed the bell and waited for someone to open the door. A maid in uniform opened the door and she smiled and greeted us when she recognised Dani. She opened the door for us to enter. Uncle Henry was sitting in the living room reading the newspaper. He looked surprised when he saw us. He welcomed us with a bright smile. “What a pleasant surprise. When did you come back to London? You were in Yorkshire, right?” He inquired us happily. “Yes we were in Yorkshire. We come back 5 days ago as I had some business to do. We couldn’t come earlier as I was busy with my work.” Dani replied. “Then what did Hazel do on these days. She would have really got bored.” Aunt Sophia came to us. Probably she would have heard Dani talking to Uncle Henry. She came hugged me and asked. “How are you dear?” she asked me. “I am fine. Thank you.” I smiled at her. “You didn’t answer me Dani.” And she hugged him. “Well she was busy shopping while I was at work.” Dani replied. “But where did you stay? You didn’t stay at hotel otherwise we would have known.” Uncle Henry inquired. “No we stayed at my apartment. Actually Ria is not in favour of staying at hotel.” Dani revealed. “So you too don’t like to stay at hotels. Your Uncle is also not very fond of hotel rooms.” Aunt Sophia commented. “That’s true. I hate staying at hotel. It just suffocates me. That’s why I always prefer to be back at home wherever I go.” Uncle Henry agreed to his wife. “Come my children, come inside. I will just inform your brothers that you are here.” Aunt Sophia went inside through a door to the right. We sat on a sofa across to where Uncle Henry sat. All I could see from here is the living room and two doors on its either side. The villa is different. Usually they would be stairs in the living room or near the entrance. But here we are led to the living room directly when we enter the house. There are similar doors on either side of the living room. The stairs must be through the door from where Aunt Sofia went and it's on right side of the living room. The living room reminded me of some luxurious palace that I have imagined while reading fairy tales. Huge chandelier hung in the centre of the living room. The room is furnished with high quality furniture. Huge floor to ceiling windows allowed the sun to shine bright in the living area. The villa had a zigzag shape from the outer view but from inside one couldn’t understand the exact shape. Even though it is summer and hot outside, it's really cool inside the house. Eiffel tower like the accommodation is on. And I checked that I felt the truth but I found the windows open. Might be the villa is built such that it keeps cool inside despite of the climate outside. Dani is having a good talk with his Uncle. I didn't want to interfere between them, so I kept numb. I was pulled back into their conversation when Uncle Henry asked me about my experience at their office. “It was great. I enjoyed it. It was actually a new experience for me and I am glad that I was able to help my family in the most crucial situation. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of the family business.” I expressed my gratitude. “Oh Goodness, you remind me of your mother in law. You are speaking the same words she spoke to my father when she helped us to save our business. You are really like her – humble and down to earth. God bless you with all the happiness and prosperity you deserve.” Hearing his words I just wished that God gave those blessings to his daughter in laws. I wish that their life wouldn’t be same as that of Emily and Samantha. I wish that things would be different here. “As we were waiting aunt Sophia came in followed by two beautiful ladies. I assumed them to be Hannah and Julia, wives of Abraham and Mark. “Hai, Hazel, Hello Dani.” one of them greeted us. She was beautiful with long blonde hair and a perfect body size. Her eyes were dark brown which enhanced her beauty. I could see happiness in her eyes unlike the sorrow I saw when looking into eyes of Sam or Emi. I smiled and greeted her back. “Well, I am Julia Mark’s wife and this is Hannah, Abraham’s wife.” She extended her hand to shake hands with me.” I gave her a shake hand and greeted Hannah who was standing silently behind Julia. I wondered why she didn’t greet me back. The door opened again and Abraham entered followed by Mark. They greeted me and took Dani into a hug. We all sat in the living room and started to chat. I noticed that Hannah was always silent. Might be she is not very fond of talking. But I am happy that situation here is different from that of Uncle Wilson's house. In their house Sam and Emily didn’t have the right to sit in the living room. A maid brought us welcome drinks. She was the same one who opened the door. After a while Aunt Sophia told Hannah and Julia to take me for a tour of the villa by the time she will prepare for the lunch. I wanted to tell her that she shouldn’t bother and that we will have lunch outside but kept numb as I was reluctant that Dani didn’t say anything. Aunt Sophia left through the door on the left side which I assumed to be the kitchen or leads to kitchen. I followed Hannah and Julia and exited through the door on the right. The door opened into hall where there stood the stairs. The stairs was huge and almost occupied half of the hall. I could see only up to the first landing from here. To the left of the stairs there is another door. Julia opened the door and we entered into a hallway with doors on either side. “Welcome to the maze of Cooper villa.” Julia bowed slightly towards me as if I am welcomed to some luxurious hotel. I counted the doors and it was three to the left and four to the right. One by one they showed me all the rooms. Rooms on the left side were used as guest rooms and on the right side were study rooms of the three men and the final room was a small library. The guest rooms were all well maintained as if waiting for their guest. They were really big when I think of my room previously at my family house. Julia just opened slightly the three study rooms and I peeped through the door. They were neat and well organised. Julia said that entry was restricted to these rooms. Only the person who occupies the room can enter because the room has lots of important documents. Whenever they have guests these rooms are kept locked. We entered the last room which is a small library. I skimmed through the shelves and found books of all genres. I would have loved to have such a library as I am very fond of reading. At the end of the corridor there stood a small staircase. We climbed the stairs and landed on a similar hallway as the one downstairs. But here it extended to both sides. Julia took me to the rooms which were above the rooms downstairs. Here there are only two rooms on both sides. “These are our bedrooms. Come on let me first show you mom and dad’s room.” She then opened the first door to the left. It was a huge room. It could occupy my entire family house were we used to live before my marriage. The room had a King size bed, an entertainment area, a mini bar and a workout area. Then they took me to all rooms and they all were huge with all the luxuries in it. Each room had different colours and design probably done according to the taste of the owners. At the end of the hallway a door opened to the hall with staircase. Opposite to the stairs there is another door which will surely open to the area above the living room. But I was surprised to see an open terrace facing the garden in the front. But at the back side I could see only glass windows. I didn’t actually understand how the villa looked like. “Come let’s go back.” Julia said. We reached the staircase but she went further to the small stairs and walked ahead through the other hallway on the other side of the stairs. Here there were five smaller rooms on one side. She told me that they were children’s room.  She opened the door at the end of the hallway. In front of me stood a passage made of glass. The passage was like a large glass tube. I could clearly see outside and I understand that this is the thing I saw from the open terrace which I thought to be glass windows. I could see the backyard from here. Also I understood the shape of the villa to be L shaped but in a zigzag pattern. At the end of the glass passage another door opened to a hall with three doors and a staircase. “Well these rooms are for the servants and the stairs take you straight to the kitchen.” Julia explained. We descended through the stairs and reached again in a room with three doors. One opened to the kitchen, the second was of the dining area and the third one was the same door through which aunt Sophia went from the living room. Then I noticed a door beside the stairs which turned out to be the kids play room. After the tour of the villa I totally agree with Julia that it is a maze for a new person. There are so many doors and one could easily get lost. “Come, Hazel let me show you our kitchen.” And they lead through the kitchen door. Three maids in their uniforms were working fast preparing various dishes. Aunt Sophia stood there giving instructions. “I am reminding you all again that within half an hour everything should be ready on the table.” Aunt Sophia said to the maids and turned around to find me in her front. “Oh dear, did you like our villa?” she asked me. “It's amazing. I have never seen such architecture in my life. It's just mind blowing. I can't even express what I felt in words. Well thank you so much Julia and Hannah for wonderful ride through your villa.” I said how I felt. “Then stay with us tonight. It’s weekend and everyone is free. We will have fun.” Julia said and Hannah looked at me with pleading eyes. “Say yes Hazel. Mary would be happy that you stayed here. Whenever she is in London she and George lives in both villas. They divide the days staying in London equally to stay at both places. I just love her company. And I think we will also love yours.” Aunt Sophia looked at me for an answer. “Well I would love to as want to know you all. But I don’t know about Dani. If he has some important business then I am afraid we wouldn’t be able to stay.” I cleared my side. Julia dragged me to the door and entered the living room where Dani was chatting with his Uncle and cousins. Julia stood in front of Dani and said. “We want Hazel and you to stay with us tonight. Do you have any objection? “She asked Dani with her hands on her hips. I could see an aggressive personality in her. I wondered if she was in politics she would become a dominant leader. Dani looked at me and stared as if he is seeing through me. “If Ria has no problem, then I am ready.” Dani said. “She would have no problem because she can be assured that her husband will not go out of control as this chubby man here has no flaws. No drinking, no smoking and no bad habits at all. Dani you know something, I really love you but partying with you means eating popcorn and watching movie like kids. Anyways we haven’t sat together for a really long time. Hazel, say that you are ready.” Mark looked at me. “Okay, I am ready only on one condition. If Hannah says me to stay then I will.” I looked at Hannah and eagerly waited. Hannah stood there bewildered as if I had asked to commit suicide. When I looked at others I could see the same shock even in Dani’s face. What’s wrong? Have I said something so bad? I could see tear forming in Hannah's eyes. Her eyes say a lot. It’s the most attractive organ in her body. She had a crystal blue eyes which are as innocent as that of a baby. It seemed to be like forever when Julia said and I stood awestruck. “She can’t Hazel. She is dumb. She can’t speak.”
