Chapter Two
Paige was dozing lightly, almost awake, when the phone rang with her wake-up call. She thanked the staff member and staggered into the bathroom to shower and get ready for her day of meetings.
Maddy was sitting up in bed when she returned, and she grinned as Paige dressed in her sober navy suit, hose, and navy pumps.
“We must go shopping and get you some brighter clothes.”
“You’ve been saying that for years, but I deliberately dress this way. Functional, efficient, and designed to hide all my excess poundage.”
