But it wasn’t that simple. The next day, although Paige didn’t have a breakfast appointment, she did have a full day of meetings, including a long teleconference with her boss, followed by an even longer one with the heads of several underperforming departments.
By the time she finally returned to the room that evening, all she wanted to do was sleep. She picked a bit at the delicious room service meal Maddy had chosen but had no interest in food, stumbling into the shower, then collapsing into bed, mumbling, “Sorry, Maddy, I’ll talk to you tomorrow.”
“Woman, you work too hard. We’ll talk about that on the plane tomorrow.”
