A wandering mind.

1650 Words
Kieran Arnell As I stared at her, I did the one thing that has been on my mind for days. I kissed her, it gave me a warm feeling and when she kissed me back I felt fire all over my body. She held my arms with both of her hands and then slowly her hands moved up until they were on my shoulder and she was cupping the back of my neck with the two hands and pulling my body closer to hers. When I moved my body close to hers, I realized the awkward angle at which we were, and I knew that to get into a comfortable position, I was going to have to get on the bed and over her but at that moment I remembered why she was in my bed. She was recovering from the bite and the beating she had gotten from Cara. I had to stop because I knew that her body was still sore from the fight so I did not go too far and it took all of my will to stop kissing her. The moment I stopped the kiss, I detangled her hands from the back of my neck, I saw her pout, and then she said, "What's wrong?" "Nothing, my love." "Nothing?" She asked one more time looking at me with her big green eyes, they were glowing. "Well not nothing, your body is still sore from the fight and you need to rest, Dawn. I don't want to act like a horny bastard and just have my way with you." "But I want you to," she said a bit shyly surprising me. She had changed since she got here, she was no longer that scared naive girl, she was saying what she wanted and doing what she wanted. And if the way she spoke to me now did not show me that then the fight should have shown me. She handled the fights she had brilliantly, I figured that her relationship with Hera was one of the factors and the fact that she was in a better environment. I liked the change. "Don't tempt me, Dawn," I said as I could feel the desire begin to burn me. She did not, she must have been feeling sore because she did not say anything again, she just fell back on the bed then yawned and pulled my arm so I fell on her body, "But you can lay by me, can't you?" "That, I can do," I said as I got up and walked around to the other side and slid under the covers. Getting under the covers, I pulled her body to mine, she felt so warm and the way she fit into the curve of my body, it was like she was made for me. We stayed that way, her back to my chest, me holding her firmly to my body as she let out a sigh of satisfaction. I could smell her scent and it was making my wolf go crazy, he wanted her and he was being restless, I had to scold him and tell him to be patient. As we stayed that way, I heard the rhythm of her breathing change and I knew she had slept off. I smiled and kissed the back of her head then I closed my eyes so I could just let my mind wander but my thoughts kept going to one place. I was thinking of letting her know that she was my mate. My Luna. But I did not want to do it now, it would be dangerous to just drop the news about her being my mate on her just like that and I did not want her to think that I confessed my feelings for her because she is my mate. As I could not come to a decision, I just tried to change my line of thoughts but my thoughts kept wandering back to it, making me try to come up with a way of telling her the truth and not hurting her or looking selfish till I slept off. ****** I woke up and Dawn was not beside me, I opened my eyes immediately and got up to a sitting position. Then I listened for movement in the house, specifically listening for the movement that was specifically hers and I did not hear it so I used my sense of smell and that was when I found her. I realized that she was just a few rooms away. In her room. Getting up from the bed, I mind linked May, so someone could come and get the trolley from my room, and then I walked to Dawn's room, I was not going to stay because for her to have left to come to her room, she probably wanted the privacy. So I was just going to check on her and leave, getting to the door I knocked and did not get any response, "Dawn?" Still no response, I got alert so I masked the sound of my steps and quietly opened the door then I walked into the room. After walking two steps I saw that the bed was still made and nothing seemed to be out of order. That was when I heard a sound from the bathroom, she must have been in the shower. Face palming myself, I quietly and slowly retraced my steps back to the door and when I almost got to the door I noticed a familiar book on her bedside table, it was opened, she must have been reading it. I moved closer to it, it looked very familiar but I could not pinpoint where I had seen it, then I remembered I had seen it on the day I picked Dawn from the field. It had been part of her belongings. Face palming myself and feeling like a nosy bastard, I was about to turn to leave when I heard, "Kieran?" Turning around so fast, I almost pushed the bedside lamp off the drawer, I said, "Dawn!" She started laughing at me as she walked toward me, she was wrapped in her towel and her long white hair was wet. She had just showered. She looked fresh and beautiful. "I, um was looking for you because I woke up and you were not beside me. Um, I see you came to shower." I facepalmed myself in my head as I listened to myself talk, I sounded like I was babbling. "Yes, I did. I actually came to get my mother's journal so I could go back to your room and read it there till you woke up but I got here and decided to shower first. I mean, I had been fighting earlier on." she said looking visibly amused, "Yeah, that is your mother's journal, I thought it looked familiar and that was why I was looking at it," I said, she had come close to me and that was when I saw that she did not look as worn out as she had earlier, I guess the sleep did magic on her. "I have been reading it," she said as she walked past me to stand over the book, then she added, "Not as much as I should and that was because my focus was on honing and developing my skills as a werewolf but now that I am a lot more confident as a wolf, I think it is time to focus on it. There are some things my mother wrote here that I did not know about." I looked at her face, her eyes looked glazed over and it looked dark, there was something on her mind and I could tell because from where I was, I could hear her heart beating very loudly. I was not going to ask what it was because whatever it was, it seemed personal so whenever she wanted to let me know she will. "Then you have the time now, especially as you are recovering. Just take your time to heal and know that I am here if you ever need to talk." She smiled and turned to me saying, "I know, Kieran. Thank you." I winked at her and said, "You are welcome," then walking to the door I looked at the time, it was already some minutes to 11 pm, and I added, "I should let you get ready for bed. I'll leave the door open just in case you want to come to my room." "Okay, Kieran. See you in a bit." I nodded and gently closed the door behind me as I left the room. As I walked to my room, I had a smile on my face. She was coming back to my room, that was why I was smiling. Still smiling, I opened my door and almost bumped into May and the trolley, if not for her lightning quick reflexes with which she used to move the trolley to the side. "What is going on?" She asked with a knowing look of suspicion, "Nothing, May," I replied, laughing at her as I dodged her and the trolley and walked into the room. She moved the food cart out to the front of my door and still giving me the look, she asked, "Where is Dawn, I did not see her inside." "She left to shower, she is in her room." "Okay," she said smiling at me, and then she added, "Take care of that girl, Kieran." I knew what she meant, May always knew things. I am actually surprised that she did not know that Dawn was my mate already, or maybe she did. "I will, May. Good night." "Good night, Alpha Kieran." she bowed and left. As I closed the door behind her, I narrowed my eyes as I wondered why May bowed at me, she never did that.
