A dangerous rival.

After the first round was over, we offered food and a few refreshments which I declined. My stomach was sensitive and I did not want to try to test it now so I just drank water, meditated, and rested in general while the others ate.

After the break, the winners were then put together and our names were collected so that a machine will draw and pair us with our opponents so there will be 3 groups. The contest had 4 rounds, in this second round, the winners who were 6 werewolves, 2 females, and 4 male werewolves in the case of this contest would then give their names which will then be drawn so everyone was paired with their opponent with the machine.

The whole time I kept my distance from Cara who made it hard because she kept coming around me, trying to start conversations with me. I had seen her fight, she was a good fighter but she did not scare me one bit.

As we watched the names of the fighting pairs appear there were some murmurs as the first pair was me against Cara. I did not show any emotion as we were told to wait for a few minutes before we will be called.

I wondered if Cara had something to do with us being drawn to fight against each other but it did not matter because I was not scared and after seeing her fight, I was looking forward to our fight.

“First set, Dawn Daniels against Cara Tinsel,” Dane announced, “Both of you should get to the passage, show time is in two minutes.” Then he left the general room.

“I saw you fight. You are not bad but you are no match for me, Dawn.” Cara said behind me, then with a wicked chuckle she left my back and went into the dressing room.

Ignoring her, I took a glass of water from the table of refreshments and drinks then I walked to the passage and walked through it till I was standing at the edge, then I heard the commentator’s announcement,

“Now back to what we came here for, the contest!” there was an uncontrollable roar from the crowd then after hearing the cheers from the spectators he added, “ The second round! And the first fight is one that we did not know we needed!”

“Announcing the first fighter, Dawn Daniels!”

As I heard my name I came out to the crowd I had fallen in love with, there were cheers as I walked to the center and waved to them, I once again faced the alphas booth and bowed in respect then I turned back to the crowd and then waited for Cara to be announced.

“Announcing! Cara Tinsel.”

There was another roar from the crowd as Cara stepped out, she had changed her outfit for the second round. She walked in, swaying her hips like a super model as the crowd cheered her on.

“As I said, this is the fight we never knew we wanted to see! Dawn versus Cara!”

His announcement made the crowd roar louder and it was obvious that Cara lived for this kind of attention, she twirled some more before turning to the alphas booth and giving her respects.

I looked up at the booth and I saw the expressions on their faces, I could not read Kieran and Joe’s facial emotions but Hera did not hide her distaste. I imagined what was going on in her head and laughed easing myself as Cara and I stood in the center of the field listening to the cheers and waiting for the fight to start.

Then the hall then got quiet just like the first time I had fought so I knew we were about to fight. Then after the first whistle was blown we both turned and faced each other with Cara smirking at me, it got quiet then another whistle blew indicating the beginning of the fight.

In a split second, Cara moved very fast and was in my face then she said,

“You can not have the alpha,” as she caught my leg and flung me so hard, I thought I was going to fall into the crowd but I ended up falling by the barrier separating the crowd seating area from the field.

Just as I tried to lift myself she was in my face again and this time she caught my leg and swung me to the other end of the field so that I hit the barrier, she was moving fast not giving me any time to think.

Silver was getting embarrassed and angry, I had to tell her to be patient as I used my speed to hurriedly get to my feet before Cara reached me at the end of the field. This time, I caught her by the arm she had brought out to use to catch my leg before she could any harm and swung her so high she hit the barrier and bounced to the floor of the field.

I was there to catch her before she hit the ground and then I swung at her before she could make another move. As she fell from the blow I gave her, she then howled and shifted into her wolf form. She was angry and I could tell that from the way her wolf was, my wolf was agitated. But I knew that it was not yet time for me to shift,

“What are we waiting for? Let us make her pay for humiliating us.” Silver said in anger.

“Not now Silver, have some patience,” I told her as I moved slowly in a circle around Cara who was growling at me then she jumped and said,

“You should have stayed back in that pack, you are not welcome here, Dawn Daniels.” then in a split second she was at my neck and she bit me.

I have never felt such pain in my whole life, not even the first time I shifted. I screamed as I tried to get her off my neck. There was a loud exclamation from the crowd, I could faintly hear them screaming,

“Woahhhh.”

As I struggled with the hold that Cara had on my neck, I was able to get her off me, then I flung her hard with the last of the strength I could muster then I moved with speed to the other end of the field them I staggered back into the barrier and stayed there with my weight being supported by the barrier.

I kept my eyes on Cara who was trying to gain her balance after the throw, the sounds around me beginning to sound faint as I started feeling faint, then I heard Silver say,

“Let me take over, Dawn. Your body is weak now, let me make her pay.”

“No, please. I don’t want to lose control, there are people here.”

“You won’t lose control I promise. The moment I am done, I will let you take over.” Silver said, then I looked at Cara who was smiling in front of me waiting to pounce on me again.

I was not going to lose this fight to her, even if it was the last thing I was going to do. So, I let my wolf Silver take over.

“Good, now we will make her pay,” I heard Silver say as I closed my eyes and let everything go dark.
