Dawn Daniels We went to the store closest to the arena and just before we got out of the car, Hera looked at me and asked me, “Ready for the stares?” I chuckled a bit then I said, “Yes. I mean if not now then when? Plus, I really need to get clothes so…” then I opened the door before I change my mind. I was still a bit anxious when we first got in then I noticed that after staring/looking at me the people in the store went back to what they were there for. Hera led me through the store and I was able to get a number of nice clothing items, I also got a leather jacket for Hera which I had to force her to accept because I thought it looked really nice on her and it fit her edgy aesthetic. I enjoyed shopping with Hera, she is so much fun, she literally stared down at anyone who gave me bad looks and that made me feel at ease and a lot more confident. When we were done shopping we joined a queue to get to the counter. While in the queue, there were a few people who complimented my hair and a few who just thought I looked good. Anyone who thought otherwise could go hit a wall I thought, chuckling to myself. I was definitely feeling a lot more confident, thanks to Hera’s company. Heras phone rang while we were still in the queue so after telling me to give her a few seconds, she left me in the queue to answer the call. “I would give anything to have hair the color of yours, so different.” Someone said from behind me. I turned around and saw one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen in my life, she was looking at me with a smile on her face. “Thank you…” “you’re welcome.” She said cutting off the rest of my response then she added still smiling, “everyone, well not everyone but most people have been talking about a whitehaired newcomer and meeting you, I am impressed. I also heard you are housemates with Kieran...” she then stopped talking when she saw someone or something behind me. I turned to see what had stopped her and it was someone, it was Hera actually. “Cara, can we help you?” Hera said dryly giving the lady called Cara a very bad look. The lady looked at Hera with a look of amusement and contempt. “I was talking to the white-haired lady here and not you Hera.” There was obviously bad blood between them. “Anyway,” she said looking back at me, “I’m done saying what needed to be said, I just wanted to compliment the newest celebrity on The Rogue Lands, that’s all.” Then she turned as if she was leaving then added, “Oh, and please tell your housemate, Kieran I said hi.” Then she chuckled and left. “annoying bitch.” Hera cursed silently under her breath but not quite silent enough that I didn’t hear it. I was curious about what that whole encounter was but I did not mention anything about it till we were out of the store and back in the car. Immediately after we got in, Hera turned to me and asked, “what did she say? Did she make you feel uncomfortable in any way?” “No, she didn’t but I could hear the saltiness in her speech and I can tell you don’t like her.” “I was that obvious huh?” Hera said smiling and shaking her head. “I don’t think you were trying to hide that. Who is she? And why do you not like her?” I asked. “An unnecessary b***h, that’s who.” She said then laughed at my look of surprise at her reply. “I don’t like Cara for a number of reasons and she has a habit of getting on my nerves.” “Cara is a selfish-minded, spoilt brat who thinks she should get everything she wants. She dated Kieran for some time but it didn’t work because she kept persuading him to mark her. She wants to be the Luna of The Rogue Lands and she wishes she could own Kieran too, she is obsessed and she would do anything to get what she wants.” “Ohh, I thought her smile seemed saccharine and I really doubt she came to say I, it seemed like she came to let me know that she is around even though I don’t know why,” there was something about her smile that did not reach her eyes, it seemed very pretentious and after hearing what Hera said, it made sense that she would tell me to send her regards to Kieran. “Her whole countenance is just saccharine and she is feeling insecure because she’s not with Kieran anymore and you are in the picture now. I have always wondered what Kieran saw in her but you can never really understand men.” “For someone who spent her life not getting a lot of attention, these last two days have been an attention Galore for me,” I said chuckling. “if you think about it, you will realize that you have actually always gotten a lot of attention. I mean you were cast out and still made to go through all you went through? Sounds like they wanted to keep their attention on you.” “Now that you say it like that…” I said thinking about the bullying and the mistreatment. Shaking my head, I bring my attention to the present. “Do you think I should tell Kieran she said Hi?” “you should definitely let him know so he figures out how to deal with her now because I for one don’t trust her. The fact that she came up to you and spoke to you is very suspicious.” “well, I guess my housemate and I would have to talk about that but before then can we get something to eat because I am starving.” “food over everything girl, what’s the time?” Hera asked as she started the car. I checked my phone, “it’s some minutes past 1, wow we spent more than two hours getting clothes.” “With the items we got, it was well worth it and good timing too, my favorite food place will be open now. Let me introduce you to good food.”
