At home

Kieran Arnell “What is that tension between the both of you?” Joe asked immediately after we were in the car. “What tension?” I said pretending I had no idea what he was talking about. “The tension from you and our white-haired newcomer that was choking Hera and me.” Laughing at his decision to keep calling Dawn the white-haired newcomer, “Her name is Dawn. And I have no idea what tension you felt but it was not from the both of us.” Joe laughed, catching me off guard, “I cannot believe it. I can tell that you like her but I also feel like there is more to it. Did anything happen between the both of you?” “Give me some credit Joe I can’t take advantage of her when she is in a situation like this. Now can we leave? We are wasting time talking about something that is not there.” “Heyyy chill, the way you are acting is making you seem more and more suspicious K. I will get to the bottom of this, you know.” “well good luck with that. Can we leave my garage now or do I have to make you?” I said making Joe laugh again as he started the car taking us out of my compound, he seemed to be having an exciting morning. Lucky him, I thought. Yesterday I thought I was going to have the most exciting Monday morning training Dawn but well it turns out that this is what I have to deal with. The thought of Dawn excited me, I was drawn to her in ways I could not even imagine and I must have slipped up in some way because Joe noticed my attraction to her. I had to be more guarded about how I felt whenever I am around her so the other werewolves don’t notice. “so, you said you handed her over to Hera because you want her to get comfortable, but I am beginning to think that there are other things involved,” Joe said after a few minutes of silence, of course, he was trying to figure out whatever he had picked up from the short conversation/introduction we had before Hera and Dawn left us. Joe was the most intuitive werewolf I have ever met and his detective skills were top-notch, I have always appreciated that but right now I wished he would stop but I know he won't until he gets his answers. “Okay.” “Okay? You’re killing me, Kieran, just give me a hint.” Then I thought about my decision to not tell him Dawn was my mate and changed my mind Joe was my Beta and my best friend, he was one of the few people who could get under my skin and get away with it, lightly but he is an amazing person who always has my back and gives me the best advice. And at the moment I needed advice. “I’ll tell you.” I mind linked him as he was still driving making him grin excitedly as he drove. “But not a word to anyone, not even Hera.” “Wow this must be serious, not even Hera? Okay.” “She’s my mate.” Joe turned to look at me as if to confirm something. “You are not joking?” he scoffed “It came to mind! But I did not even give it too much of my attention. This one would have taken me a little more time to find out.” “Can you even imagine? What are the odds? I am so happy for you but why dint you want it known?” “I was just going to share my thoughts with you and ask for your advice, that is the only reason why I told you.” “Of course,” Joe said dryly “The moment I realized she was my mate, I didn’t tell her because I wasn’t sure of who she was and how she would take it, I feel like at made the right choice then but I still haven’t told her and I don’t want anyone else to know because I feel like it will overwhelm her as she has been through so much and now she has so much power. I believe she is already taking in so much at once, I want to hold this one back till she gets comfortable in her new phase then I’ll tell her.” “Hmmn, that is a very thoughtful decision but are you ready for the repercussions of your actions?” Sighing I then realize that is what has been making me rethink my decision, I did not want to lose her but I also did not want the possibility of her losing herself. To take in too much would be risking her sanity, she was too strong for us to take the risk. “I am now. She is really strong, Joe.” “How strong?” “She was in a blood rage when I found her. She is that strong.” “wow, does Hera know?” “I am sure she will know after today.” “Why won't you just train her?” “That was the plan, but yesterday at the beach her wolf was coming unto me. I thought she knew but I realized she was just drawn to me and she couldn’t help it. That is not a problem really, the problem is that Dawn could not control her. She was also not comfortable enough with me, she is not comfortable being naked, and if we are going to train she will have to be naked at some point so…” “wow, we all know nudity is a werewolf thing,” “She wasn’t considered as one. She was not even allowed to stay in the regular living quarters, Joe. She said she was never made to feel welcome. She was treated so badly and alienated, how old was she?” My voice was dark, I was feeling so much anger. “He will pay.” “The greedy bastard did a number on her back in her old pack. We will make him pay.” Simon Wade would have to pay for what he did this time, I am going to make sure of it. Dawn Daniels As we got down from the car and walked to the entrance of the building, I noticed there was no one at the entrance or anywhere around. The moment Hera stood in front of the entrance the door opened for us to go in, “Welcome to my not-so-humble abode!” Hera announced as we both walked in. Her not-so-humble abode? I thought. “This is where you live?” I asked her as I looked in awe at the large opening which was at least 15 steps ahead of us. “Sometimes I wish I could,” she replied chuckling then added when she saw the confusion on my face, “…but I don’t.” “Ohh, I was like Woah so cool,” I said laughing as I looked around. Before getting to the opening I could see ahead I noticed there were entrances on both the right and left sides of where we stood. Hera joined me to laugh saying she was just pulling my legs, of course, how could someone live here I thought, facepalming myself. “This is “The Arena” and even though I don’t live here, I am in charge of it as the Head warrior of the rogue lands. No one has access to it but me, and our Alpha & Beta of course.” “Come on, let us go to the main attraction.” She added as we walked further into the building, closer to the opening. As we stepped into the opening I fell in love, and I could understand why she said this was the main attraction, it looked like a gladiator arena just more modern and designed to work perfectly for werewolves. I had thought it was lit by lights but it was lit up by the sunlight as the opening had no roofing except for the areas where spectators would sit. I was in awe. “So, I take it, you appreciate it, right?” Hera said almost proudly as she looked at me and looked around. “I do, I do, but where is everyone?” “The arena is only used during training, events, competitions and rarely banishment. The access, light, and sound controls for the arena are mostly computerized so we have just a handful of werewolves handling that, making it mostly unoccupied” The word banishment sent a shiver through my spine but I ignored it because that was what started my journey here, “So, we’ll be training here?” “Most times, yes. When you get stronger and more comfortable we will train in uncomfortable places.” Hera said with a glint in her eyes. “Now let’s talk about you.” I told Hera a very summarized version of what life was before I got banished and I also told her how exactly my wolf had acted when we were with Kieran, she took note of it and said we needed to do a meditation class every morning before we trained to build and strengthen my connection with and my control over my wolf because if we didn’t it would be a problem. I also remembered that I needed to get clothes so I mentioned that to her and told her I had savings from some of the jobs -which I was underpaid- I did back in White moon pack so I could afford to buy a lot of clothes. “Today we use the last of anything with you that reminds you of White moon pack,” she said referring to the money I had worked for but was paid unfairly “we are unto a good start, Dawn. Welcome home.” I loved the sound of that. I was feeling at home.
