Kieran Arnell It was some time around 8 pm when I got to the compound, I was sure I missed Dawn today again, work has been very time-consuming for me this past month and it has made seeing Dawn an impossible feat. Immediately I drove into the estate I was enveloped by her scent; never have I perceived and recognized someone else’s scent in my compound but then she was not just anybody and that was obvious. I wondered where she was as I drove the car into the garage, keeping an eye out for her as I parked the car. Getting down from the car, I thought of the last time we saw each other and how she has been on my mind since that day. I was thinking about the kisses, I could not get the thought of them out of my mind. Following her scent, I used my nose to find her. It took me a few minutes to find her, she was lying down on the bench and snoring gently, so gently that I might have not heard it were it not for my wolf hearing. She looked like she was enjoying her sleep and I did not want to wake her up but it was late and the bench must be hard and uncomfortable so I needed to take her into the house. So, I walked to the bench and picked up the backpack she had placed on the ground beside the bench. Then I carefully lift her so I don’t wake her from sleep and I am surrounded by her scent almost immediately she is in my arms. Dawn and I had not seen each other since that day, it has been a month now. In no time, I was in the house and already walking up the stairs to her room. When we were both in her room, I set her backpack on the bedside table then I dropped her carefully on the bed and watched as she adjusted herself, and then she turned away from me. Good, she did not wake up. I was almost at the door when I heard her voice, “Kieran?” “Hey Dawn, are you good?” “Yeah I am,” she said yawning as she sat up on the bed, “How about you?” “I am doing great.” There was a pause. Should I leave? Should I stay and talk to her? Nah, she fights tomorrow, “I should leave you to rest, you seem tired.” After stretching and cracking her knuckles she replied with a voice that sounded tired, “I am, and I have a fight tomorrow. I need to sleep,” then she chuckled, “I slept off on the bench didn't I? I can’t believe I slept outside if you had not come through I would have probably woken up around midnight, dazed and confused.” “Don’t worry, nobody knows but me and you.” “oh? Then I’ll have to kill you.” She said smiling at me. “Good luck with that, I would like to see you try." I should not keep you up longer than you plan to, I will take my leave now.” “No.” “No?” “Yeah, no.” then she got up from the bed, yawning more as she walked to the balcony then turned to me, “Please join me at the balcony, I want to ask for your advice on a few things.” Walking to the balcony and joined Dawn who was leaning a bit forward on the railing and closing her eyes. “I feel a bit anxious.” After the words were out of her mouth she did not look at me, she just kept her face directed towards the wind with her eyes closed. I could try to understand how she was feeling but I couldn’t so I just said what I could to make her feel better. “Open your eyes and look at me,” I said as I watched her slowly open her beautiful green eyes and held her gave, letting our eyes lock. How could one be so attractive? I then held her hands and went on to say, “and feeling anxious is fine, in a real sense this is your first real fight so that also makes sense.” “That is true, I guess I will just focus on the most important thing which is mentally preparing for the fight. But do you have any advice to give me? About the fight. Hera and Joe have given me a couple of pointers but it will mean a lot if I hear from you.” It did a lot for my pride and ego when she completed her sentence, so I just told her the first thing that always came to my mind whenever I was in a fight, “Never let your guard down, not for anyone or anything. That is all I can tell you, so just focus on your opponent, their every move, predict and focus on their future moves. You should be alright.” “Yeah, I should be.” She replied still yawning, I chuckled at her reply. “You should not even bother yourself, you just have to learn. The main reason for this is to have you learn in an environment where you are not familiar with people you are not familiar with. So, you should know that you don’t need to pressure yourself, I know it is going to be a learning experience for you.” I saw how sleepy she was and it seemed like she was done asking me the questions so I told her goodnight and made a mental note to come to see her before the fight tomorrow. She thanked me for getting her to her room and the advice, again then she sleepily walked me to the door and surprised me when she planted a soft kiss on my cheek. “Goodnight, Kieran.” “Goodnight, Dawn.”
