One month later… Dawn Daniels “See you tomorrow, Hera.” “See you. And don’t forget to come along with your best fighting attitude Dawn, Joe and I bet on you.” Laughing at that I walked away from the car, through the gate, and into the compound, Hera dropped me by the main gate to the alphas residence because since I started training seriously, I have made it a habit to jog to the gate on my way to morning training and walk back home from the gate after training. It has been a month and I must say the training has been intense, the first week had me sleeping like a log and eating like 2 people but slowly I got a hang of it and my body could take it. I had trained with Hera and then Joe on some days and I was feeling a bit confident in my skills. My connection with my wolf was currently in a very good place, I could shift with ease now and she tends to listen when I don’t want us going overboard. Tomorrow was one of the annual fighting competitions they always had at the Rogue lands, it would be the first time I will be in close combat with anyone other than Hera or Joe and it was going to be me proving my strength and the impact of my training. It is also necessary so from the assessment of how the fights go, I will be assigned to a section in the pack. I was excited for tomorrow and so were Hera and Joe because why would they bet on me if not for that? My phone rang, it was Darius. “Hi, Darius.” “Hey Kiddo, what’s happening?” “a lot! I have been training a lot,” “I figured, I hope Kieran has not been too firm on you.” “I haven’t trained with Kieran. Yet. I have been training with the head warrior, her name is Hera.” “okay. Was there or is there a problem?” “as to why Kieran is not training me?” “Yes.” “Ohh, no. I was not comfortable training with him at first, you know, shifting and being naked and all that.” “oh, that makes sense, why didn’t I think of it.” I chuckled, “because it has never been heard of, a werewolf who is not nudity friendly.” He laughed, “that is true but then that happened because of the situation you found yourself in growing up. How have you been though?” “Sincerely? I have been good.” Then like magic, the thought of my mother’s journal came to my mind. I have been so busy and my mind has been so occupied these days I forget about it and on the days, I remember I want to read it I am usually too exhausted. “but I have been really busy, I haven’t been able to read moms journal.” “that is not a problem, is it? Did you give yourself a timeline to read it?” “No, I didn’t.” “They there is nothing to fuss yourself about, plus you have been busy so…” “Yeah, I just remembered it now and I felt shame because it was like, I missed her so much but there is a part of her close to me and I am not going through it.” Darius then chuckled, “I am pretty sure she understands, don’t push yourself too hard you are already doing a lot, child.” “Thank you, Darius. I miss you.” “Miss you too, Kiddo. I just wanted to make sure you were doing fine and it seems you are.” “Yes, I am actually. Never been better. Also, guess who is going to be having her first close combat with a werewolf that is not any of her trainers?” “Ohh wow, you need to make sure the whole thing is recorded, irrespective of what happens I want to see it! Even though I trust you will be great.” “You didn’t even answer the question,” I said laughing as I stopped before getting past the garage and just sat on one of the chairs strategically placed to face the waterfall in the center of the compound. “You sound more excited than I am.” “I am, and I am proud.” “Don’t worry I will send you videos of it.” “I can’t wait! So Dawn, talk to you soon and break a leg tomorrow, child.” “Hopefully not literally, bye Darius.” “bye.” It was getting dark now and I just sat on the bench, watching the clouds in the sky shift and not thinking of anything. I was fighting tomorrow. Cara Tinsel A phone notification popped up and it was an invitation to one of the annual fight competitions for werewolves as I tried to swipe it away I mistakenly clicked on it. It led me to the invitation and as I was about to leave the page, I saw a line that caught my eyes. “…the mystery white-haired newcomer would be one of the competitors…” Newcomer? She should not even be classified as "new" anymore, I thought as I got up to a sitting position on my couch. To think that girl was still popular and on people's tongues, after a month was a problem, I thought she was going to be one of those one-time wonders. She was a steady topic of conversation, her origins, her looks, her hair, some had said her eyes glow. What was that? I was also hearing that a few of the werewolves who had seen her during her training were saying she was extremely strong and everything was making her more of a threat than I had anticipated. A threat to my being the future Luna and a threat to my popularity and even though I doubted her power I would have to find out how strong she was, just to be sure. How was I going to be sure? I thought as I rummaged through my head and then it clicked in my head. All I had to do was get enrolled in the competition, any member apart from the high-ranking werewolves who were in charge of the pack could participate. I was really strong and apart from the fact that I started training from a very early stage, my family was one of the founders of the Rogue lands and our bloodline was one of the strongest. In all the 22 years of my life, I have never fought except it was for training because I was born to use that power as a Luna and not for petty squabbles but now my position was being threatened and I would do anything to remove any threats. So I made a call and entered the competition.
